My wife's birthday is a few days before Valentine's day, so she generally gets a month of going out to eat at least once a week, plus some stuff she wants. Right now she's getting a weekend off, since like a lot of self-employed people we tend to work more than 40 hours a week. I did some stuff yesterday that needed doing, so she wouldn't feel compelled to do it today or tomorrow!
Would have bought her another gun, but she tends to do that for herself....

It was 24 years ago today I gave her a husband. She keeps patching him up hoping to get to get a few more miles out of him. Everyone thought I was such a romantic cuss for getting married on Valentine's Day. I knew every year the retailers and the media would send me a reminder with plenty of time to spare and there wasn't any good hunting or fishing going on at the time.  What a coincidence- my wife and I were married 24 years ago today, as well. Gave her an elephant hair bracelet- we were on safari a few months ago in Africa, and she has wanted one ever since. (bracelet, not elephant).
I'd rather be a free man in my grave, than living as a puppet or a slave....

I did give her 24 long stemmed red roses this morning. Later this morning we are driving to Willow so I can look at a double rifle or two (just to look and drool) and then on to Talkeetna, one of her favorite towns, for lunch.
Chronographs, bore scopes and pattern boards have broke a lot of hearts.

I gave her a foot massage for about 45 min. last night. Then at 3:30 AM I wake her to say happy valentinse day. So today, my OWB overheats from a creosote fire in it so the only way to keep water from draining is crank the heat. At this point she will think it was all for her. 67* in here now. I vacuumed the family room and bedroom,washed the dishes, cleaned up more stuff by noon. I got nothing......... so far, however, I might just go buy that Ruger Blackhawk today sinse I got her a Ruger sr22 two yrs ago.... It's only fair.

I slipped out early this morning and let her sleep, I got her a card with some of the "universal gift certificates" included (she knows I can't pick out something for her and get it right) and dinner tonight. She ordered me a S&W 69 at the local gun shop and gave me a gift certificate for it. She is a keeper and has let me hang around for over 30 years…
