CrimsonTide;
Top of the morning to you sir, hopefully this finds you and yours well.

My late father used to always say that that to me and I have fond memories of those times.

Often when we'd hunt together we'd take off in the dark to be at our destination on top of some mountain or another at first light. Being of a certain age Dad would need to get out of the pickup "to check the tires" about the time the sun would be just beginning to show on the mountain range to the west of us.

As he'd exit whatever tall 4x4 I had at the time, he'd often groan a bit and say, "Pain lets us know we're alive Dwayne..... and this morning I feel VERY alive.." grin

Thanks for twigging those fond memories this morning sir and all the best to you and yours this spring.

Dwayne

How about 73+?

You rang ????? grin

But I can't complain. Wednesday, I replaced the brake caliper, rotor, and pads on the R/H side, and pads on the L/H side of my 3/4 ton 4WD Dodge. Fifteen years and 350 k miles meant that NOTHING about it was easy.

Yesterday, I framed out one wall on the addition I'm building on Peggy's house. A sixteen foot wall with three large windows, using secondhand lumber. Swinging that framing hammer all day ensured that the arthritis in my right hand was gonna hurt like hell last night.

Thank God for Aleve.

Gotta get back to impersonating a carpenter this morning.

Reading Curdogs post got me thinking.

How many here start their day with the two Aleve ritual?

I'm one!

I save it for a really bad day. I try my best to not take medicine unless really needed.

Roger, The last hardwood floor I installed is going to stick with me for life, and I'm only 41. I broke 3 bones in my back when I slipped on a wet stair with the table saw. Two of the breaks 'fused' over, but the third one is now a daily reminder of how quick chit can go south. Listen to your Docs and take care of yourself man.

Good morning, Dwayne!

Hope all is well with you and your family this morning.

I got a kick out of your post, largely because it was my Grandfather who taught me that line, almost exactly like your Father taught you.

Where would we be without Fathers and Grandfathers?

Joel

I used to. And more at bedtime.

Cardiologist said not only "No!", but "Hell No!"... wink

I don't do that anymore.

Days like yesterday spent with a heavy chainsaw doing some heavy cutting, I sure miss them, though...

Damn, I gotta go run that saw some more soon, before it warms up. frown cry

Peggy's son has one he's offered to loan me. But the arthritis in my hand is caused by an old break that healed up crooked since I never went to a Dr. It affects my trigger finger knuckle primarily, and if the nail gun is very heavy, I may not be able to handle it.

But the Doc said that exercising it is actually good for it if I can stand the pain. It's about time for another injection that helps a lot. I think it's a steroid of some kind.... I've had two of 'em about a year apart each time.

What would really help is a skill saw that will remember the correct length between the time you measure and the time you're ready to mark the cut.

I've gotten to where I carry a little note pad in my back pocket. laugh

I watched my Dad do this for years and wondered why he didn't just remember the numbers like I did...

This whole thread has made me feel much better. I thought I was shot.

My father was in a real train wreck in 1957 when he was 46. He could never work again, but he was able to get around and even horse riding for years afterwards. He always complained of pain which I attributed to the train wreck, but now that I am 61 and hurt without a train wreck, I think a lot of Dad's pain was due to aging...
