Hi! Happy Easter everybody!!

We had a great family day here with all the kids home, an Easter egg hunt, a great meal, good laughs, it was a great time.

Now Stan, what in the world is a 300 AAC Blackout?

Is that as sinister as it sounds? Long case or short?

What's it do? when did it come about? I've been living under a rock, i've not heard of it.

Something clever here.

Dave,300 Blackout is basically a .223 case necked out to .30 caliber. It was designed to allow the military to load larger projectiles into an existing brass.Advanced Armament Company developed it at the same time the 300 Whisper (same thing) was coming into being.
Lots of pluses to this round including the ability to load sub-sonic rounds. I became interested in it about a year ago and have done mucho reading up on it. Do some google on it and read. It is neat.
Imagine a 220 grain round at about 1100 FPS and inherently accurate. Great deer round with little recoil and lots of accuracy out to long yardage.
The Handi rifle in 300 Blckout looks like a toy.

Thanks a lot Stan. I've got a Blackout in an AR but the Handi being cheap and short will be great on the front rack of my Rokon.

I haven't heard much about the black out but in a handi-rifle it could be some fun!

I'm loving the kids' .223, I'm going to try to get a full sized version for myself I think.

Grabagun is closing out .300 Blackout Handi rifles out for $219 plus $5.99 shipping.
Bud's Gun Shop is also closing them out.
Tzone, this would be a perfect caliber for your kids as well as much fun for daddy.

dang Stan, I might be needing them dies back wink

that's a hell of a deal, but I think I'm gonna stick with the .308. it will do everything the 300 AAC will do and more.

one of them 300's would be sexy with my new suppressor on it though!

I was impressed enough with the .223 using the TSX bullets on deer this year that I got a few more.

The Colt 6920 may be getting an Aimpoint PRO or something on it, but it shoots really well with irons or a detachable scope mount and a Weaver fixed 4.75x Grand Slam so far. The Savage Axis was under 200 bucks out the door with a Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal. It shoots well enough that I may replace the trigger.

I'd love to get a kimber in one. I'll prolly just get the full sized ruger tho. the Rem 700 mt rifle in .280rem I got yesterday will have to do for awhile. I'm a sucker for .280's. it has a ginormous Burris 4.5-14x42 scope on it. if anyone would like to buy it for cheap let me know.

Time to get out to the garage and get the boat ready. This weather's gonna break for good real soon here, and I want to be ready to start getting some crappies. It appears the mice pretty much left the boat alone last winter. No major projects this spring. Replace the winch rope and anchor rope. Pick up a new spare tire. The battery needs replaced, but that's about it. I've got a swivel seat that's been sitting out there since last year. Might mount that up, but that's about it. 'Pulled all the bells and whistles out of my little 14 ft. Lund last year. 10 years of no use had let the critters have their way. Yanked all the wiring, bought a couple of those flashlight style running lights, and called it done. No switches to trouble shoot, no rotting wood floors to repair. Basic is good sometimes. It's time to go fishin'.

Amen! I agree that simple is a great way to go. I started stripping my boat yesterday, remember the lund with the rattlecan camo job? she's starting to look respectable again. mama said we're going on the water today, so I better get my stickers on there and get it back on the trailer. I had to stop early last night so I could make it to the Pheasants Forever Banquet. I won a henry goldenboy lever action .22. first thing I have ever won, so that was cool.

walleyes are biting so I might see if we can snag a few of them today
