Most opinions here are that the Weaver K4 and K6 are pretty good glass. Has anyone found a problem with the eye relief?

They will work ok on a short action, I'd not put one on a long action.

Can't speak for the K4 but the K6 is a short action only affair unless you like picatinny rails.

That's the only way I could get a K6 close enough on a Zavasta action. The front ring is mounted to the rail nearly in the middle of the action. Great glass for the money though.

They're both surprisingly good scopes for the price and almost as easy to work with as similar powers in the Leupold M8s. I've used them on both M788 (308/6mm) and M78 (30-06) Remingtons. Eye relief is fine. How they fit you and the rifle you plan to put them on is probably dependent on body configuration.

I love K4's have several of them. I'll try a K6 sooner or later.

Never had trouble with my K4 (s). It's not a Zeiss but for nostalgia that does the job you can't hardly beat an old Weaver.

Eye relief has never been a problem. I carry it in thick stuff and am good to 300 yards.

Huge Weaver fan. 4X or 6X..... Not as good at dawn or dusk as the Leupold. But for the money? The best and then some..

Got them mounted on both Short Actions and Long Actions ( Model 70s on the Long Actions)... eye relief is just fine and there is enough room or length to mount them on a Model 70 Long Action or a Model 700 or Ruger 77 LA...I've had them on all three actions.. in the long versions...

The K4 Classics are excellent scopes. I've owned several over the years. Most seem to pop up used being sold by folk who undervalue the quality and are priced very low. The last two I bought here in Canada were $75/shipped. I sold them to friends to let them check'em out. They were very impressed as well.

They do tend to fit better on a short action, but I do have one now on a RAR, but only because of the shorter ring spacing allowed by the bases.

Here's a Weaver K4 Classic (center) with a couple Leupolds for comparison. M8 top, FXII bottom.

That does it, my next rifle is getting a K6, it'll be just fine on a VZ-24 in standard leupold mounts.

As you stated, nice glass, short eye relief. I have used bunches of Weavers ( Jap models) but only on certain rifles/actions.

I mounted one on a bud's 270Win maybe 15 years ago. I don't care for the set up much, but did kill a deer with it. Even hit a running deer with it.

He is 6'4" and the shorter eye relief probably is less of a factor than with most.......

I'm a long time fan of the basic weaver scopes. They are pretty under rated in today's market of uber-hyped scopes.

In fact I have a new 4x rimfire version sitting on my bench waiting to get mounted on a Marlin Mountie.

They Classics are a solid value.

I do not prefer the 2.5-10x38, or the handgun scopes, however.......

Anybody have a photo they would share on a K4 or K6 (new ones) on a remington long action and a mauser (FN) action? I have a really good Husqvarna (FN) 06 and am thinking a K4 would be a nice scope on it. I also have a SS Mtn rifle that needs a scope, the K6 might be one to consider, in Talley LWs.

Pat .... Send me a PM on CGN and remind me. I might be able to size a K4 on a 700 LA for you.

I don't think that scope will fit on your FN without either an extension base or rings. They are tight on a LA.

Scott,

The one on huntinaz's rifle is definitely an El Paso K4, not one of the Japanese scopes.

The eye relief on the new Japanese K4's and K6's is about average; I measured of my 6's and it's around 3-1/4". The bigger problem is the short tube. You can get around that with some mounts, but not with others.

All of my new K4's and K6's are on short-action rifles, but have enough short-action rifles to find them all homes....

Hey Pat ... Here's a pic that may help a bit.

Rifle on right is my 257Rob on a 700 LA. Rings are Talley LWs and scope is a VXIII 2.5x8. VXIII is as far back as possible in the rings.

Rifle on left is a RAR in 30/06 with Weaver Classic K4 in Weaver style R&B. Front base has two slots which allows a further rearward placement of scope. This type base is the only reason this scope works on this rifle. Scope is as far back as possible as well.

Both rifles are resting on the butt and both ocular lenses are at the same position.

Paul, that pic tells it all, thanks very much. I will have to find another solution it seems.
