Yes, he did. And Texas is damn well worth a two-day drive to me.

I hear, you are still on good terms with your driving mate. That says a lot.

Dan,

is Lois attacking our pig driving ostrich?

I do not believe, the story ever came out, but that bird was instrumental for Joe taking that one pig of opportunity late that one evening.

We were walking back to stand after checking for sign of a hit of his first shot, when we hear the pigs in the brush off to the side. A few steps in got us into position - spreading out for clear lanes of fire.

The ostrich then came in circling around, flushing the pig out for Joe to shot.

Like a damn pointer. It was a sight to see.

We should have 'em look into that and train em for pig hunting. I tell you, there is a fortune to be made.

oh damn that's funny, I hadn't heard that story grin

Be hard as hell to fit one inside the back seat of a pickup though. Actually, even my niece's mastiff would fit better smile

That ostrich stuck his head into Roof's ground blind one day, and damn near got its head blown off.

Cool beans! you did a fantastic job on short notice this time! The accommodations were the absolute shizz. Ed and I slept like kids till 10 am the morning we were supposed to leave at 8:30.. whistle

I was stunned. The ranch crew were all sitting there about twiddling thumbs waiting when we moseyed out of the room. Though I was sick the whole time it was flatazz relaxing and a pleasure to meet some new names.

Dan,

If you need any help let me know. If within a reasonable drive I will kill a day to visit a potential ranch. Nothing but time here. grin

Looks like a good time....

Work interference interfered this year.....
But going from a yak to a pig pointing ostrich has me wondering about the new things that'll be showing up in the years to come.....

The worst thing was that he was standing right in front of us and wouldn't move out of the way so we could see the feeder. All the more reason to blow his head off.

I don't think it would be possible to train'em to do anything. I don't think there's very much goin on up stairs.

Texas looked fun but I hope you guys come back this way next year. I'm good for the entire trip now that I have a new boss and can take a couple days off.

Steve is planning on a survey trip soon. While Texas is awesome, there are some great folks we would get if it was a one day drive too. Lots of room for two campfire pig hunts.

I would definitely like to do the TX trip but TN is pretty convenient as far as a 600 mile drive goes. grin

Yes plenty of room for 2 hog hunts...

That said,
So I have an idea for numbers (which I know is almost a year away) who is still interested in attending a TX hog hunt?
This isn't a concrete commitment but it will give me an idea of a rough number so I can find a ranch according to group size. As usual we will have new members wanting to join our merry band and other who have attended that won't make the next. We were at 24 this year...
