I'm looking at starting CAS before long, I have a Winchester 94 in .44 Rem Magnum I have been told it prone to feeding problems due to it's being designed for the longer rifle cartridges; can any of you confirm or debunk that? Also what is the normal number of rounds fired with the carbine in a stage?

Take it out and shoot it. Then you'll be the expert on YOUR gun.

If it's new and you don't want to fire it because you might sell it, just load it and rack the rounds through unfired. This is best done in a gravel pit, rifle range, etc.

I have never heard that about the Winny, however the Marlin '94 does tend to develop a jam. That can be fixed fairly easy if you have a decent mechanical streak. I assume you will be shooting 44 specials and not the magnums for CAS.

I've used my Marlin Cowboy plenty and my son has a Marlin lever too and we've never had a problem with them. Like has been said all them lever guns are mysteries of their own. Some work fine and some don't but MOST do. If you want to know for sure run the cowboy rounds through it and it will increase the likely hood. They are a round/flat nose bullet and then work the lever like you mean business.
