Thank you, everyone.
Vicki is in surgery now. We hope that they find something that can be repaired!
My bad chemical panels and pain last night turned out to be that the Doc's had me on a too high level of tachrolimous, one of several anti rejection medicines I take and will be taking for life. They reduced the dose and expect me to be back to my terrific recovery and feeling more normal very quickly with the lower dose.
I will update again in a couple of hours when Vicki is out of surgery.
Mark

Kidney donors ALWAYS suffer worse than the recipients. It's a helluva sacrifice to make in more ways than one. I'll pray for this good woman.

best regards seafire And good news you shall have! Vicki's surgery went well, and they did find a couple of adhesions in the bowels that they were able to fix right up. Dr. thought that this would be the silver bullet, and so far he is right as Vicki has already been switched to oral meds and so far is doing well! No explosive pain or bad vomiting, dry heaving at all today so far! We are thrilled, but also cautiously as they have thought they had it figured out a few times before to have the attacks come yet again. Trying my best to have faith that she is on the mend and finally on the mend. Looks like it, and I am going on that premice. we are all going to try some pier fishing on Sunday if she is released to us tomorrow or the next day and feels like going. Pier 86 in case anyone cares to know. Ling cod is open starting tomorrow so I am planning a scouting trip there to see what is being caught and with what. How WONDERFUL it would be to just have a day like that, all four of us, even if there was no fish caught and/or Vicki did not feel up to holding a pole. I have not pier fished in about 2.5 decades. Weather is supposed to be sunny and calm, with highs in the high 60;s. Pretty good day to go as I see it. As for me, I was ordered down from 35MG of Tachro down to 25. My Tachro level was way high at 14. This probably caused my Creatinine and Potassium and blood cell counts to be all screwy as well as the pain I was feeling right in and over my new kidney. Thanks so much for all of the prayers and well wishes. Please keep them up that we are on the healing and mending side now. Mark

Praise the Lord for this miracle.

Exploratory surgery at noon tomorrow. So far Vicki has been 3 days in and out of the hospital back in her home area, and now 6 additional days here.
Several times the Doc's have thought they had her figured out and dialed in, only to have the lower abdominal pain return with Nausea and vomiting then dry heaving. WITH a fresh 18 inch incision that has not had a bit of a chance to get better with all of the throwing up and dry heaves, and now they are going to re open the whole thing. Docs are all out of idea's, this is all they know to do right now. I sure hope they find something tomorrow and can repair, remove, replace, fix SOMETHING!
Prayers, please.
Thanks in advance,
MARK I'm sorry but I find it completely deplorable that you are on an internet forum talking about your next safari while your cousin, who gave a kidney to save your life, is fighting for her life... Not to mention that Drs orders keep you within reach of a hospital and you are volunteering to go look at a trailer ouside of that zone...and I forgot the cold you tried to hide from your transplant specialist. You claim Christianity...better start showing it. YMMV Flame away.

Where can I send money? I'd like to fund this "pier fishing" to help lift your spirits.

Every hour I spent in the hospital for 2 weeks following my transplant, I thought of just these few things: 1. My God. 2. My family. 3. What I'd like to do when I got out. 4. How wonderful the people in that hospital were.
Mark is doing the same thing. A little pier fishing WITH his donor sounds like an excellent No. 3.

Mark is doing the same thing. A little pier fishing WITH his donor sounds like an excellent No. 3. Vicki has been couped up in a hospital room for three weeks now. Both she and her husband agree that sitting on a pier with (maybe) a pole in hand on a sunny day in the sound sounds like aa great way to break away and live a little. I have been with my cousin every day of the way except for the couple of days whe tried to go home and had to get sent back, and I am at the hospital for my own labs and appointments more often than not. Plus, my sweetie is wearing out. And, I will still be within close range of the hospital with two good drivers to get me there if I have a set back. And of COURSE I am anxious to get back into the swing of life. That has always been my way i.e. what is next to plan for and do. The Safari idea is a long ways out as I will not be cleared for full time work until Jan '16 at the earliest. But that does not mean that I will not be anxious to ride my HD, varmint shoot etc. when I get home. I have been too sick to do any of that since last July other than one single day varmint shoot trip that about killed me off right before I came up. None of ya'll are walking in her or my shoes, talking to our DR's etc (who are all unanimous on the pier fishing idea being a good one) so you really don't have a valid position or reference point to make a judgement call. Hmmmm...... judging others.... something in the bible about THAT one, too, methinks... On my way to the hospital for my lab work and appointmnts, plus hang out with Vicki for a bit. Good news on the Vicki front, NO throwing up or bad abdominal pain last night! And with only moderately strong oral meds! Ecstatic here, x 1000
