This is a tough one for me just because I really like them all. I have had a 257 Roberts for years but the 7X57 probably get the nod for all time favorite.

I just bought a M70 in 300 savage but have yet to try it out but I'm sure it will be a favorite in time.

How about the boring ol' 30-06. Venerable old rifle deserves a venerable old cartridge. Not to say the .300 Sav. isn't, but a lot of us grew up on the '06, myself included. Hell, there was a time when I was a kid that I thought guns came in three flavors- shotguns, .22s, and 30-06s. John

I'd say .243 but the .257 is awful nice too.but then I just bought a 1949 M70 Super Grade in .300 H&H so we'll see.

Pugs you will like the 300 H&H, slickest bolt of any of my 70's. It's Hell on whitetails with a Nosler 165 BT.
Congrats on a nice find.

Congrats on a nice find. Thanks. Not a pristine collector, good wood, decent bluing but very nice and the bore is spotless. A care box of 100 pieces of brass arrived from Jorge today and dies are on order. Bullets I have from 150 to 180 so I see fun on the horizon. Once I replace the petrified after market recoil pad with a Win repro and get a scope in it and some range time I'll post pics.

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

30GOVT06. Kind of hard to find green steel boxes full of M2 ball anymore. But not at my house.

I think it's un American to not own a pre 64 model 70 chambered in 30-06..... The rifleman's rifle in the all American chambering...

375 H&H. I really like the big bores. I would have said .458 if I could afford one.
