I tried it a few miles in to the ride directly after he "smelt a barre in the woods," a la Davey Crockett.
I slid my hand down the rein and stared to turn him on his haunches.
He took that as a signal to kick it up a gear, headed around the "Clubhouse Turn," and didn't stop for about a mile. Or, you know, 8 furlongs, I guess.
He hasn't done it since
