I didn't wake up this morning thinking I was going to buy a rifle today, but getting a really nice older Marlin 39 is one of those things that reside in the back of your mind waiting for the right opportunity to present itself. After jstamper emailed me some more pics I could see this was the one. It's in beautiful shape overall and checking for similar items on gunbroker showed his price is very reasonable.
I made the obligatory 30 second attempt to talk myself out of it, failed of course, and said the magic words...
.... it's in shooter conditions (no idea of % this or that) and shoots just fine
