Ok. I just saw the Bruce/Jeep commercial. There has been a lot of virtue signaling in this Super Bowl. Its been hard to stomach coming from people who have been nasty and uncivil for years.

In 1976 Springsteen was on the cover of Time Magazine, and letters to the editor said his best days were behind him.

I never liked Springsteen, but the guy with the blue collar logic channel did, until he started hating Bruce for being a liberal.

I think they are doing fine.

Look at everyone bitching about the commercial, meaning they must have seen it.
Which of course means no one is avoiding supporting such nonsense.

Unless I've missed something, there is no difference in the NFL and Jeep, as much as people cant figure that out...

Red states might make their mark in the used Jeep market but the commercials are selling new Jeeps.

New Jeeps are a inner city thing, the only outdoor experience many inner city dwellers get is dropping the top on their new Jeeps on a nice day to drive to the office. Gives them a chance to wear their Mountain Hardwear fleece and everything.

Doubt that many rural dwellers buy a brand new Jeep to use as their hunting or mudding rig. A lot of rural Jeeps may have first been a inner city street dweller before they were re-sold used in the rural market.

A lot of money is spent in advertisement research, Jeep knows their market.

Much like those that posts in these threads, how many were never going to watch another NFL game?

Their memories fade as headlines change.
No NFL here..

Again, the commercial popped up before game time, on my Youtube.

Using Roku, was watching goose hunting videos
My cat loves em.
Climbs on the couch and expects me to turn on hunting vids so she can swat at critters on screen.

No fuggin NFL or NBA in this house.
Gave up on pro and college sports, and even reg TV chit, years ago.
The point of the commercial is that he is liberal. He's a liberal at a church. Churches are generally seen as republicans establishments. Add in he's Kansas which is typically a red state, as are most of the heartland states. That's the point of the commercial, that supposedly we meet in the middle, and right can accept left, and left can accept right. It was very well done in my opinion, especially in today's "that offends me" mindset. And for the record, I'm not a Springsteen fan.
Theyre telling you where the middle.is geographically, as if that translates to the middle politically, when theyve skewed everything so far left.

Fuggem.

The message of the commercial was solid: for the good of the country , let's be open minded, discuss ideas and meet on what is best for the country.

From a reality point of view it has several issues:
- MASSIVE HYPOCRISY: where was this add for the last 4 years when the Ds did everything possible to obstruct and remove Trump
- assumes the "middle" is where you want to be

That said, they didn't pull any political punches, just said essentially "everyone, pull your head out of your ass and start talking". Hard message to swallow after the last few years if you believe it was a D generated ad, good message to hear if you believe it was a non-political ad

Way too much of the same/same to not think that there were not "guidance" protocols in place that dictated what would be accepted for viewing.....And the only one that could make the rules was the NFL....

Some major companies opted out this year....They can tell you it was about covid and money....but I have doubts....

Trump and plenty of his followers wanted the Democrats to get on the Trump train and ride it to prosperity. Many took advantage of all the winning his Presidency brought forth for the country, while at the same time railing against him/us and trying to do their damndest to sabotage the country. The Dems have crossed the line in the sand on many issues. The only compromise with them should be do we legalize machine guns first, or silencers? And by "legalize" I mean stop the infringement and get rid of the unconstitutional laws and free the political prisoners.

Lets take a relatively small thing for an example: Why, when we have the Instant Background Check, is there a law against interstate buying and selling of handguns? There is no reason other than the Federal government has had a little-known but fully functional policy in place of doing everything they can to slow down and even prevent gun sales within the context of current "laws".

The Democrats want you to have an attitude of compromise and inclusion in their evil. Guns are "only" one thing.
Springsteen, just another liberal pos.

I drive a JEEP every day here on the ranch, and we have 5 of them we use for hunting, they are like any other 4 wheel drive that's used in rough country, you have to take care of them, we have never seen a Ford, Chev, Dodge, Toyota , That will hold up to our kind of use and abuse, we have a 93 Sahara, with 300,000 ranch miles on it, I have a 05 LJ with 176,000 miles, with regular care, Jeeps will do the job. I'm no fan of Springsteen, and have not seen the commercial, and piss on the NFL.

Yeah, let's all just forgive & forget & unit & eat the good schitt sandwich that the Demons want to serve up now called the "Unity Schitt Special"

That was the message of this ad, & I ain't buyin' it.

Here's what The Federalist had to say about it today, by their very best writer.

Springsteen Jeep Ad

The 3 Worst Things About That Terrible Jeep Super Bowl Ad

How could a major corporation not see how propagandistic it comes off to suggest that when Republicans win a national election, that's divisive, but when Democrats win one, that's unifying?

By Mollie Hemingway

FEBRUARY 8, 2021

In a generally weak year for Super Bowl commercials, Jeep’s stood out for being particularly obnoxious and tone-deaf. Called “The Middle,” left-wing political activist and world-famous singer Bruce Springsteen narrated and starred in the ad about how the country has been divided, but now it has a bright future as the “ReUnited States of America.”

While advertisements that appeal to virtues in order to increase sales and profits can work — see Toyota’s beautiful ad about the joy in adopting a child with special needs — this one fell flat and faced mockery and opposition from many viewers. Here are the three main reasons the ad didn’t work.

The Messenger Is Known For Hating Republicans
Many Americans love Springsteen’s music. His successful career has spanned four decades. Many liberals love that he shares their political views and works so hard as a political activist. Springsteen, like so many other wealthy celebrities, regularly speaks ill of Republican voters and politicians.

Just before the 2020 election, Springsteen called for “an exorcism in our nation’s capital” as dark music played on his radio show. Of Trump’s presidency, he said, “I thought it was a f—ing nightmare, but it was true.” The episode, titled “Farewell To The Thief,” also insulted President Trump’s family.

The 71-year-old Springsteen told Australians that he would leave the United States and move there if Trump was re-elected.

Springsteen’s posture against Republicans is well known and goes back decades. He was angry at President Ronald Reagan’s positive mention of Springsteen’s “Born In The U.S.A.” He endorsed and campaigned for John Kerry, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden.

Of President George W. Bush in 2008, Springsteen said the United States was now “suffering the consequences” of eight years of rule by a “very radical group of people who pushed things in a very radical direction, had great success in moving things in that direction, and we are suffering the consequences.” By 2016, he was calling President Trump a “moron.” In 2017 he bashed Trump in a protest song.

As one Twitter user put it, “That’s all I could think of, the whole spot. Being preached to by someone who doesn’t respect my views who relishes in suppressing them, having the nerve to pretend to be ‘my community’ and declare unity. They have no idea how transparently cynical the whole thing came across.”

The Images Were All Off
The ad began with images of a tiny Christian chapel in the middle of the continental United States. The chapel, which seats maybe a half dozen, features a cross on top of a map of the United States that is painted like the American flag.

Later Springsteen’s narration uses biblical imagery evocative of the Old Testament journey of the Jews to the promised land: “So, we can get there. We can make it to the mountaintop, through the desert, and we will cross this divide.” Springsteen says that the chapel is for all, which is undoubtedly true, but it’s very particular religious imagery to be used in service of car sales.

While lefties began claiming that Springsteen was endorsing “Christian nationalism,” others felt that Jeep was “using our religion and God to mock us.”

The ad featured the Springsteen, who is extremely well known for being from New Jersey, wearing a cowboy hat and boots, small earrings in each ear. He appeared to have continued his regular upkeep of plastic surgery. The overall effect was one of cosplay rather than authenticity.

A Jeep with no top on in the middle of what seemed to be a particularly frigid time in Kansas drove down a dismal road. No Jeep owner would do such a thing. In general, the images were frosty, cold, and dark.

The final image was a map of the continental United States minus, for inexplicable reasons, the upper peninsula of Michigan. In the center was a red star, an image historically associated with communism and more recently with socialism.

The Argument For Unity Was Not Made Well
“The middle has been a hard place to get to lately,” Springsteen said at the beginning of the ad. The end features the text, “To The ReUnited States Of America.”

What made the United States divided until recently, the viewer might ask. Why, according to Jeep, is the country reunited now?

For 74 million Trump-voting Americans who lived through four years of epithets and refusal by elites such as Springsteen to treat the president of the United States as legitimate, it’s not hard to see why the ad is going over like a lead balloon. One reason the middle has been a hard place to get to is because of wealthy and powerful people like Springsteen spewing hatred toward Republican presidents and their voters dating back to the 1980s.

Joe Biden, after winning a narrow election that came down to about 40,000 votes in three states, began asking the media to run with the narrative that he was a unifier. They dutifully did so, even as he signed radical executive orders and moved not one bit to the center but further and further to the left.

Corporate media, who have ignored or mocked concerns about election integrity despite the widespread sloppiness and rampant mail-in balloting associated with the 2020 election, have cheered on the crackdown of protesters in or near a riot at the nation’s capitol. They did so after spending months defending and contextualizing violent riots from the left that seized cities across the country, attacked federal buildings, killed dozens of Americans, set churches on fire, and terrorized small business owners.

How could a major corporation not see how propagandistic it comes off to suggest that when Republicans win a national election, that’s divisive, but when Democrats win one, that’s unifying? The corporate-approved approach is to paper over disagreement while Democrats hold power while amplifying a full-on #Resistance when Republicans are in power.

Jeep sales will not heal the fabric of the country. Jeep ads can’t even help toward that goal so long as they are using dishonest and manipulative partisan framing in service of car sales.

Springsteen is a has been , washed up .
I would be not just surprised, but amazed, if Bruce and his family turned out not to be crypto-Jews. They fit the pattern, right down to the nonsense name that sounds European, but translates oddly. It was obviously contrived. He has certainly been "chosen" to receive all the cash, fame, awards, and accolades available, particularly given that he has little talent. He has had relationships with Jewish women: another tell.

Just food for thought.

Seriously?? The "message" in that trite commercial has been in front of us for many centuries. Most breathing humans know the message. Due to current context and power politics behaviors, it is facetious, hypocritical and sickening. Since the start, Springsteen's shtick has been low class and crude - no change.
Remsen,

I removed this post after a conversation between my Wife and Miss Lynn. I had her call her and to see how she was doing.

I have nothing more at this point to say as this is her own matter, and it is to stay that way.

Dinner time and the bell is ringing.

I love the mountains, visited often as a young man.

Might read a little about them after the chicken and dumplings feast.

I am sure that it takes a while to legally gain access to who you are and where you post from and so and so on. I also know that people also leave clues in their postings on the internet as to who they are, where they live, where they work or practice, and other little details that help those who need to know. I believe you also know that.

You should contact her yourself, there is a system onboard here for you to use to do so.

I believe that when a PM is sent, a notification and content is sent out to the member.

I also believe she has been advised not to return to the Fire for now.

I don't know anything more about the situation and the proceedings.

I spoke with her brother when the wife and I called to inquire as to how she was these days.

A little heads up for all of you, continuing in your ways to and against her on this forum does not show intelligence or acts of decency, it just compounds what has already been done and said and recorded in some manner for future references apparently.

But then again, as a lawyer, you would know that this whole debacle and its' continuing even after she has exited will not fair well for any of you.

But from what I gather by what you have said about yourself, you are a lawyer of high repute here in the US, and I would guess from your comments you have a lot of clout in the legal world, where you could win without even really having to fight to any real depth.

I also understand from what you and the others here have written about Miss Lynn that you have proof of what and who she is and that she has done and said what you have stated about her, and you all are willing and able to back up your statements.

All in all, I am under the impression from you and the other posters that you all believe yourselves to not be accountable for your words or actions against her, and that not one of you believes you are guilty of defamation - libel, or cyberbullying.

But I am sure that Miss Lynn and her representatives will be no match when you consider your prominence in the legal world and the upstanding character of your clients in the real world, not the internet world.

Off to exercise the pups before I settle in for the day.

Have a good one.

Benny

WOW

LOL
I missed the ad, so I had to google it. I figured one of you guys would have posted it in 5 pages. So if you missed it, here it is. Bruce and Jeep can take their red star and shove it where the sun don't shine.

Yeah, I buy that. 8-Q..............

Are you even American?

You sound like a subject of the crown posing as an American, because no American would think “cyber bullying” (aka “he was mean to me on the inner webs”) is a legal offense.

If you do have citizenship in this fine Constitutional Republic please take Bruce and his Jeep and go to a place where you can be surrounded by your kind and not drag this country further down.

That’s one of the most retarded posts I’ve read since the attention monger herself “left”.

Wink wink, nod nod

Hey Benny - you may be the world's biggest expert on what Springsteen 'has" - so what form of worship led you to that knoweldge? And, apparently you are too ignorant to realize that you are writing to guys that don't care a lick about what Springsteen "has". Folks here tend mainly to care about what a person "is".

And, your post reveals that you knowlittle or nothing about what guys here do or do not have. One thing we do not have - or give - is respect for an ignorant troll.

Here is some commentary on Bruce from the NY Post. The writer is disgusted by Bruce, and reveals that he has even made the Libs angry:

Bruce Springsteen sells out with pablum
By Andrea PeyserFebruary 8, 2021 | 4:10pm | Updated

The most nausea-inducing moment of Sunday night’s Super Bowl came not during the public spanking of The Chiefs by the Bucs. It was during a tone-deaf, two-minute TV commercial starring New Jersey’s own Bruce Springsteen, in which the mega-wealthy musician and leftist sage revealed that his longtime working-class grift is as phony as his cowboy hat.
In the commercial entitled “The Middle,” Bruce, is seen driving a 1980 Jeep CJ-5 to a chapel in Lebanon, Kansas, which he describes as “standing on the exact center of the lower 48.’’
He rhapsodizes about this geographical oddity — ignoring the fact that Kansas voters handed a substantial state victory to Donald Trump over Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.

“It’s no secret,’’ he continues, undeterred by Kansas’ Republican bona fides, “the middle has been a hard place to get to lately. Between red and blue. Between servant and citizen. Between our freedom and fear. . . .’’
He sifts soil with hands that have never performed manual labor. (Or labor of any kind.)
He sips from a cup.
He lights a candle. There’s a shot of a back-lit American flag. A random horse.

“We can make it to the mountain top, through the desert and we will cross this divide,’’ he says. “Our light has always found its way through the darkness. And there is hope on the road ahead.’’
As the mini-film reaches a visual and musical climax designed to jerk tears from viewers’ eyes, a slogan appears onscreen — “To the ReUnited States of America,’’ which is rich, when one considers just how divided the people of this nation remain.
In the next and last frame — surprise! Here comes the Big Reveal.

The words “Jeep.com/The Road Ahead’’ appear. And in an instant, the viewer realizes that this entire exercise in heart-string-pulling, Middle American condescension, a ride we’ve taken with the expectation of a dollop of wisdom, has been nothing more than an expensive effort to sell motor vehicles to the public.
How could Bruce have done this to us?
Heavy criticism flew from the right, but also from the betrayed left.

“Convincing someone that Springsteen is fraudulent . . . now requires much less work from both him and you,’’ Washington Post pop music critic Chris Richards wrote ahead of Super Sunday.
“Springsteen’s songbook has long stood up for the marginalized and the disenfranchised,’’ Richards continued, “but here, in lieu of writing a new song, he’s sticking up for a car company whose products are hastening the death of our planet — a death that the boomer demo being courted with this two-minute clip won’t have to witness.’’
He didn’t just sell out, he’s a planet killer!

Bruce, 71, has been spreading his man-of-the-people drivel and contempt for the right at least since the Reagan administration. Now, the little people are not amused.

“Pretty easy for a guy who is worth 500 million to say what he did . . .’’ reads one online comment.
Jeep is also less of an American brand than is commonly believed.
Currently, it is owned by Stellantis, a Franco-Italian-American multinational automotive manufacturing corporation with headquarters in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. At a time when so many of his fellow citizens are out of work due to the pandemic, one would hope Bruce would root for all-American vehicles.

If there’s a silver lining here, this commercial may finally convince Americans to ignore the fraud that is Bruce Springsteen.

Hi Benedict

Thanks for finally responding. I have no interest in contacting Miss Lynn, as she is not the one who threatened us with legal action. In fact, I believe you are the one who made that threat, claiming that you were relaying the message on her behalf. So you can relay this message too: SUE ME. NOW.

"But I am sure that Miss Lynn and her representatives will be no match when you consider your prominence in the legal world and the upstanding character of your clients in the real world, not the internet world."

Correct. I actually want to meet the lawyer who would tell a potential client that she has recourse for hurt feelings on a hunting/shooting forum that she visits volitionally.

Your stirring of drama and attempts to call attn to a particular board user are reminiscent of that same individual.

Do you actually believe that saying things one individual (or many for that matter) finds objectionable on the internet is grounds for a winnable court case?

If so, you definitely need to move to another country where they lack a first amendment.
Jeeze....should I hire a lawyer?

This sounds pretty serious.

I've seen both versions of your previous message...the first one, where you talked up the legal threats coming our way, and then the puzzified version you changed it to. Again, I will be very clear about this:

SUE ME. Tell your doppleganger in Canada to sue me if you want to continue the charade that you're not her sock puppet. I can take the pain, hit me with the hurt feelers complaint. Teach me a punishing, humiliating lesson. Do it.

If'n I win your tractor do I have to take over payments?
I have never been able to be "WOKE" sorry, old Sailor, I am what I am.. If one does not like that, I am fine with that. It would be nice however, if the country could find a middle ground.

Some how, some way, the self-inserted "victim" in this charade keeps taking on more and more negative outcome. Are these symptoms of masochism?
Never been a fan of Jeep or Springsteen. I know a few guys that have them tricked out for off road / Moab, but for the most part West Omaha soccer mom's, lesbian's and teenage girls drive them on the street around here.
I did not watch the Super Bowl so did not see the Springsteen/Jeep ad. I did today, however, click on a link Victor Davis Hanson provided in his commentary about the hypocritical ad shone during the S.B. I've never been a Springsteen fan, so at first did not recognize that "old man" driving the Jeep. The ad bored me but at the end, did you fellows notice that with Springsteen's admonition for all conservatives to join in, unite, and agree with left liberal hypocrites such as he, there was a map of the United States ... with the Red Star of Communism in the middle of the U.S.

Looks like mega-Millionaire Marxists and Billionaire Bolsheviks have struck again.

L.W.
Springsteen was wearing a fricken ear ring and a 'cowboy' hat at the same time.

Super lame.

My schit is so old the bank wont let me finance it.
Through the years I have enjoyed some of Springsteen's music, really could take it or leave it. If you listened to any radio you were going to hear Springsteen songs if you liked it or not.
I do remember he portrayed himself as a "New Jersey Street Rat." He said that he had grown up in a tough city and was in youth gangs, like the kids portrayed in West Side Story.
I gave up on Springsteen when I read an interview with a guy who knew him as a kid. He said he couldn't figure out how Springsteen had this image as a city gang member, they didn't live in an urban hell hole, he said Springsteen grew up in a suburb
and there were no gangs nearby. A normal middle class upbringing.

That meant that Springsteen was a phony. That was it for me I can't stand fakes and phonies. Tried to avoid his music after that.

And he is true to form. Here is is in Kansas, driving around in an old Jeep on rural roads and wearing a cowboy hat. What a phony. A New Jersey suburban boy, and now he is playing a cowboy!
Talk about "all hat and no cattle."
Mr. Springsteen was arrested last November for DWI in New Jersey. Wonder if he was driving a jeep.

Springsteen DWI

Good
I believe we are talking about a single DUI, from November 14 of last year.
Funny how Bruce managed to keep a lid on it. Today, Jeep dumped him like a hot potato.

Listen, Bruce has a net worth of $400 million, he doesn't need any money from Jeep.
He wanted to make a political statement of how much he hates Trump for the Superbowl.
I think the only reason we have heard of this is because it was a bust on Federal land.
I have read several stories where Bruce's buddies say he wasn't an alcoholic, they never had seen him drunk.
BS! You don't go around for 71 years as a choir boy, and all of a sudden decide to drive drunk. He has been pulling this crap for years.

He gets caught by a local cop for DUI a year ago, the local cop is going to say "Oh my God you are The Boss. Call a backup driver and I will let you go."

He finally got nailed by the Feds and the Federal Officer wouldn't give Bruce the "home field advantage."
Didn't he get his start in chitholev Jersey bars?
Drunken Jersey Yahoo's driving home.

H certainly want playing to the strait edge hard core crowd...
I have found in life, one does reap what one sows.
i got so sick of hearing him every other fuggen song when i lived over that way. jersey people think he's a god. when i dared to disagree, they were all shocked. everybody in nj loves that fake working man ass hole.
