of MRE's and cases of bottled water and
bags of ice in the back of his truck. He hollered
at the guy standing there writing on a clipboard
that he wasn't there for all that, him and his
wife just wanted to go in the store and buy a
loaf of bread and a few other items. So they
tossed 2 or 3 loaves of bread in with the other
stuff and told him to move along.
Sad part is that somewhere else down the
road a few hours there was somebody that
most likely really needed all that food, but
they were able to put a checkmark down
that they had given away XX amount of food

I learned my lesson after 40’years here my pumphouse is heated and very nice! Never had froze water. Did empty the tank once and had to wait for power to come on to get a refill. In meantime I was boiling snow on back porch grill to wash dishes.

This has been just a inconvenience for us. I got a full freezer and putting on a pot of home made chicken soup today. Put thermostat on 62. House has not gotten below 60 whole time. It’s old folks I worry about. Unless they got folks to help em. Old son has been driving to two places to knock holes in ice for the cows.

Fish fryer set up in kitchen! Bbq grill on back porch. Still some elk and deer in freezer.

Why don't the governor call out the guard units that have generators and go to the worst hit neighborhoods and power up schools, gyms, etc for people to go to to get warm and have an MRE meal or take a shower? This can all be done at the local level at worst hit areas.

I worked for a gas utility company. We liquified natural gas in summer by buying gas on the spot market cheaper, and storing it. Then released it in winter to keep the main pressures up. 1/3 of our gas was sold in summer to the power company to make electricity for the air conditioning demand. Texas is geared for summer peekes, not winter, and weren't prepared. They should store more gas in spring and fall to cover peek demand, also put low weight oil in the windmills gearing in the fall , and heavier weight oil in the spring. Then they should build some nuke plants.
