Why don't the governor call out the guard units that have generators and go to the worst hit neighborhoods and power up schools, gyms, etc for people to go to to get warm and have an MRE meal or take a shower? This can all be done at the local level at worst hit areas.

I worked for a gas utility company. We liquified natural gas in summer by buying gas on the spot market cheaper, and storing it. Then released it in winter to keep the main pressures up. 1/3 of our gas was sold in summer to the power company to make electricity for the air conditioning demand. Texas is geared for summer peekes, not winter, and weren't prepared. They should store more gas in spring and fall to cover peek demand, also put low weight oil in the windmills gearing in the fall , and heavier weight oil in the spring. Then they should build some nuke plants.

Why should my tax dollars be spent disrupting Texas independence?

It's their lust for independence from Federal regulation that's killing their residents during this storm.

The software update couldn't have come at a better time, I camped in my model 3 last night and the only concern I had was that you can't disable the video that shows up about 30 minutes to an hour after you turn the car off. Before camp mode the climate would shut down after that period now it displays a video of a tent with a fire pit in front of it.
