I'm not even an MMA fan, but "Warrior" is probably one of my favorite movies from the last 10 years. The clip below might be a spoiler if you've never seen the movie.
I watched this scene one evening and stopped the VHS.
Then I got on my knees and prayed. The Lord kindly answered that request. The very next class my old friend from years ago walked into the room unexpectedly and we got to work.
To learn how that can happen, you must watch the link in my signature. It's beyond awesome.
I like when Indiana Jones shoots the sand negro with the big sword in raiders. Always makes me smile
I concur.
I read that that wasn't in the script. Ford had a bad cold or something and was fatigued by a long day of shooting. He was supposed to fight the guy in some elongated way and win, or something like that. Instead, off script, wanting the scene to end, he just pulled his pistol and shot him. I can't recall if they reshot the scene, but the director thought it was brilliant and kept the concept.

I read that as well, maybe the flu with a fever, Ford reportedly felt like crap. About the best; "I've had enough of this chit" I've seen.
Reality is always better than fantasy. I've studied this writing for application. I believe I Samuel 17 to be perfectly accurate as is the rest of the Bible of course.

This is a style I'm familiar with. It's real martial, with a little extra dramatic choreography. Denzel and the director get the best teachers for these scenes.

This part is over the top because they really start to let you know that Someone else is involved besides Eli. The extra references to the Book, and God was added by Washington as the production staff just wanted another shootem up secular movie. He said no to the movie UNLESS he can convey a Christian message. Of course it wasn't a Christian movie, but it was the best post apocalyptic movie ever made, because of his influence. Denzel should have been listed as co-script writer too.
I'll always remember that from the 80s(?). I liked the theme of the underdog using a clever modified weapon in a brutal way to defeat the guy who went on to become the worst villain of the Highlander movies. A man is measured by the strength of his enemies theme.
Jeremiah Johnson revenge scene. Pretty sure thatās a pileated woodpecker in the soundtrack, not native to either Utah (where it was filmed), or the Rocky Mts but they make such effective use of it I give it a pass. That call appears twice in the movie; the first time is when Johnson pauses before leading the Army column through the Crow burial ground.
A nice touch, generally overlooked, in a very well made movie.
That is truly a classic BW. I might be wrong, but Looks like he did his own fight scene too.
Thats some major detail, I never noticed that woodpecker in those scenes. They are something to behold up close. One visits my cherry tree in the back yard on occasion.
I heard that scene, was originally written another way....
but Harrison Ford had a bad head ache.... so when they were doing the scene, he just took out his pistol and shot the guy instead.... who just fell back " dead"
Spielberg loved it so much he just left it like that...
as far as fight scenes.... does John Wick or the Accountant fit in here?
I think in each John Wick movie, they kill more people than Cecil B. deMille killed in his entire career...

John Wick actually reloads his guns after the correct number of rounds, so just on that alone, his stuff is right there at the top.
This next fight scene was from the 60s, but was deemed sooo brutal that YouTube required an age restriction to see it on the CBS channel. I don't know how this slipped through the censors, but viewer discretion is advised. If you are under 21, please ask your mommy before you click here.
