Destroying kids' lives before they've ever have a chance in life.

BY JACK PHILLIPS July 15, 2021

A significant number of Baltimore public high school students earned below a “D” grade point average during the first three quarters of the 2020–2021 school year, according to an analysis.

The analysis by Project Baltimore, an investigative reporting series by Fox affiliate WBFF, found that during that time period, 41 percent earned a 1.0-grade point average (GPA) or below. That would mean that more than 8,400 of Baltimore City Schools’ 20,500 students are getting grades below a “D” overall.

Meanwhile, the analysis found that 21 percent of city high school students obtained a 3.0 or better GPA—or a “B” average.

The school district, in a statement to Fox News and other outlets, appeared to blame the poor student performance on the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Consistent with the experience of many school districts across the country, the COVID-19 pandemic created significant disruptions to student learning. As early as the summer of 2020, City Schools identified large numbers of students with decreases in their grade point averages and classroom performance when compared to past performances,” Baltimore City Schools stated.

The statement added that “City Schools is providing students with a variety of opportunities to acquire the unfinished learning they lost” and “each student’s progress will be assessed, and an action plan will be developed to complete any unfinished learning,” which will “guide families and teachers in helping students get back on track.”

Across the United States, a number of public schools struggled to implement online learning for students during COVID-19-related lockdowns. Some districts saw an increased rate of failures and an increase in absences from classes.

For example, nearby Anne Arundel County in Maryland saw failure rates more than double to 7 percent from 3 percent, according to data obtained by the Baltimore Sun.

Jovani Patterson, who ran for Baltimore City Council president last year, noted that the school district absorbs a considerable amount of funding but doesn’t deliver results.

“We don’t see much change. Our schools outspend 97 percent of other major school districts,” he said in a campaign ad.

“They don’t care, man. They come from the same environment,” Patterson said of city officials and what he described as an inability to deliver positive results for students. The Baltimore City Council leader, Nick Mosby, and other officials are “a product of Baltimore City schools.”

“But then when you bring this [analysis] to them, they don’t care. They don’t care at all. You have to raise the standard … Everyone should be speaking out about this.”

Officials for the city of Baltimore and its school district didn’t immediately respond to a request by The Epoch Times for comment.

I'd be interested in knowing the ethnic makeup of these students...though I can hazard a guess....
It's too late for those students.
Ya don't need a high GPA to shoot up the hood.
This is what happens when your culture ridicules the academic excellence and two parent homes that can break the cycle of poverty. Instead, it hangs its hopes on hoops and lottery tickets.
Correlate it to race and see what you find.
Well even here theres that problem.
To address it, if a kid doesnt turn in an assignment or flat out bombs a quiz or test, the lowest they can be given is a 50%.

That way they can go to credit recovery class and just press buttons over and over til the computer program says theyve reached the end ( loops til enough correct answers to go to next section, complete all sections and get the credit ). Literally, one could just press the buttons enough times on the short mult choice til program indexes....

Not even read the screen and in time, get the credit.
Could be all day, all week or a few minutes.

Some kids have health/ medical and come in, hammer out the work snd get caught up. Most however are fuggups snd the majority of one demographic.

Same ones having probs in big city schools, problems w the police and normal society.

Admins want those kids in school, have to be there so many days to get the gov money. Public school is a joke.
Those kids.....run the halls, raise hell.....the avg teacher in a reg classroom spends half the time telling tbem to shut up and sit down. 90% of the time its a black male raising hell.

You know the ones where 75% dont graduate.

Only way to put some distance between them and a kid wanting to learn, is to put the ones trying to be students in honors classes.
The dilution of grades and entrance exams and I'm even losing my trust in the credentialed professions. We have a complete dumbing down of society. Fake professionals fill society.

Because holding up standards constitutes White racism directed at blacks to keep them down. Therefore, standards have to go.

Isnt it racist to expect a group of people by color to be lesser performing?

Youd think a self respecting black person would NOT want the system watered down.
We used to teach Latin, Greek, philosophy and the classics in high school.

Now we teach remedial English in college. A 201 level course...
I watched a show about Prof. Walter E. Williams. He said he was glad he received his education before it was fashionable for white people to like black people. That way an A on his transcript was the real thing.

They've been told that whenever there is a disparity (occupations, income, disciplinary action in schools, arrests, prison sentences, performance in school or on tests, etc.), it means that it's due to White folks discriminating against them in one way or another. That's far preferable for them to believe vs the alternative.
I wonder what percentage of them will be registered Democrats.

The Algebra II and Trigonometry I had in high school forty years ago would be a stiff challenge for many students in college pre-calc courses today.

The stories I can tell about young engineering grads...
Good, smart, hard working kids from respected schools, that simply don't know how to reason or apply basic skills to field problems. And it is across disciplines - structural, mechanical, electrical. The overwhelmingly predominant reason is they took entire credit classes that simply taught them to use programmable functions on a calculator, or to use packaged software to answer questions - without ever being taught the reason for the question in the first place. Sad, really...and unfair to these kids.

I can't tell you that, but I can tell you this.

A few years ago, I decided to do some research on Section 8 tenants and squatters I had evicted over the last several years.

100% of those I could find information on were democrats.

I have one black gentleman who has rented from me for several years now. We bump heads every now and then, but for the most part he is a good tenant. Takes care of the place and keeps it clean, so he's good in my book. Sometimes he's late on the rent, but ultimately he pays.

He is the ONLY conservative / Trump voter I know of in all my years of renting to black tenants. His views on the disintegration of society are interesting. He is from southern GA.

There is a black owned business down the road from me. The owner is a solid republican, told me he thought Obamme set back black white race relationships 40 years. He had Trump signs in his yard and business. His views on the black family mirrors my own, LBJ and the great society screwed them and will eventually screw us all with socialism.
Wish they all could see who is really screwing them and everyone else.

blondshooter, it's true. They can't see past the freebies to the fact that the demoRATS are the ones destroying theirs and their families' futures.

It's a great return on investment for the demoRATS, really. They steal from The People in the form of higher taxes and use that money to buy votes.

I was representing a small company of 400 employees, and interviewing prospective engineers with a booth at a jobs fair in the Red Lion hotel auditorium in San Jose in 1986. I made a little cardboard sign that said "no new hires" and put it on the counter. I was across from the Ford Aerospace booth that was much fancier, but a blonde news reporter [info babe] went to the crummiest booth and set up in front of my little sign and filmed a segment for the evening news. "It is still bad news for those without experience..." she said.
The goal isn’t to create educated citizens. The goal is to create Democrat voters. Another NEA success story.

Diversity is our strength.

An ignorant populace is easier to control than an intelligent populace.
The 3 or 4 of em outta 100 that are good people.
Dont make up for the rest at all.
Can't even put a dent into the problem just because a few are normal and break away from the rest of the primatoids....

Compound that nationwide...

Fugging world's most expensive pets basically...
And they have the right to vote....
Way back in the later 1700's & 1800's it has been sad on a certain continent the Smart Ones sold the dumb ones into the work program. This is looking like more and more of the truth all the time
Probably just a bad school lunch program skewing the numbers.
If I could go back to 9th grade....
I'd do things different...
Either I would drop Vo-tech and take academic courses,

Or,

Did everything exactly the same, except change schools.

In Baltimore, I could have been in the top 25%!

17k per year spent per student in that chitthole. A charter school or private school would not be more then that.
The 5 largest ethnic groups in Baltimore, MD are Black or African American (Non-Hispanic) (61.3%), White (Non-Hispanic) (27.7%), White (Hispanic) (2.76%), Asian (Non-Hispanic) (2.57%), and Two+ (Non-Hispanic) (2.5%).

They help them more by saving that money up and handing them the total figure on their eighteenth birthday.

They’d blow it all on Skittles, Blunts, and Dope. 😜
Maybe they should make their tests a little more real life for them, something they can relate to. For example, here is a general math question:

Quantavius loots a Flat Screen TV worth $500 during a mostly peaceful protest and decides to sell it for $500 for drugs. He wants to get as many $50 meth rocks as possible. Rapsheen, the local drug dealer, agrees to buy the TV for $500 and sell Quantavius as many $50 rocks as he wants. How many Rocks can Quantavius get?

A. 10
B. Rapsheen’s entire stash. He just robbed Rapsheen and took his stash and along with the TV.
C. Zero. Quantavius dropped and broke the TV when he tried to carry a box of liquor bottles he grabbed at the nearby ransacked liquor store as he was carrying the TV.
D. I don’t know. That is a tough one. Could be any of the above.
It's *always* 41% or more.

They're just tryin ta blame covid.

Although he was a year or two ahead of me, I shared some time with W. Williams when in school. I liked him a lot.
If you think that the success rate is better than this in any number of like cities/situations, think again. You might be surprised. And, it may be even worse - much of the achievement data from such school systems is not trustworthy. But. don't worry, that wonderful teachers' union will fix it all.
Look no further than the NEA, the largest blight on this problem today, and in the last 50 years...give or take.
Do you wonder why a private school can expend 4500 to 6000 per student per year and beat the national testing by 3 plus grades aptitude on average?

You forgot:

E: Zero. Shanequa robbing Quantavius when he passed out.

Students get out of school exactly what they put into it,
I wonder what the average IQ of those dedicated students might be?
While a kid and throughout my education and work career in more than one field, many black people have been my friends or colleagues. In general, they have been as disciplined, value-driven, competent and responsible as all others around us.

It is impossible to understand why the bulk of the black leaders in this country cannot muster the common voice, will and dedication to overcome the rotten political manipulation, misuse and abuse of so much of the urban black population. I would support such leadership and agendas strongly, and think that many others here would do the same.

This political and human sin, boosted greatly by LBJ's "Great Society" scheme and stupidly funded increasingly since then, is now compounding itself in dramatic fashion. I liken those who perpetuate this to the black traders of old who sold fellow blacks into slavery..

The need for action is great - ethical black leadership is essential.

Agreed, strongly. If a person has experienced knowledge of urban areas in the 1950s and 60s for solid comparison with the present conditions, and understands what has happened inside the "education" scheme since then, one knows that this mess goes beyond any normal human conditions.
