If you think that the success rate is better than this in any number of like cities/situations, think again. You might be surprised. And, it may be even worse - much of the achievement data from such school systems is not trustworthy. But. don't worry, that wonderful teachers' union will fix it all.

Look no further than the NEA, the largest blight on this problem today, and in the last 50 years...give or take. Do you wonder why a private school can expend 4500 to 6000 per student per year and beat the national testing by 3 plus grades aptitude on average?

Maybe they should make their tests a little more real life for them, something they can relate to. For example, here is a general math question:
Quantavius loots a Flat Screen TV worth $500 during a mostly peaceful protest and decides to sell it for $500 for drugs. He wants to get as many $50 meth rocks as possible. Rapsheen, the local drug dealer, agrees to buy the TV for $500 and sell Quantavius as many $50 rocks as he wants. How many Rocks can Quantavius get?
A. 10 B. Rapsheen’s entire stash. He just robbed Rapsheen and took his stash and along with the TV. C. Zero. Quantavius dropped and broke the TV when he tried to carry a box of liquor bottles he grabbed at the nearby ransacked liquor store as he was carrying the TV. D. I don’t know. That is a tough one. Could be any of the above. You forgot: E: Zero. Shanequa robbing Quantavius when he passed out.

This is what happens when your culture ridicules the academic excellence and two parent homes that can break the cycle of poverty. Instead, it hangs its hopes on hoops and lottery tickets. Failed culture.

Students get out of school exactly what they put into it,
Not a real member - just an ordinary guy who appreciates being able to hang around and say something once in awhile.

I wonder what the average IQ of those dedicated students might be?

While a kid and throughout my education and work career in more than one field, many black people have been my friends or colleagues. In general, they have been as disciplined, value-driven, competent and responsible as all others around us.
It is impossible to understand why the bulk of the black leaders in this country cannot muster the common voice, will and dedication to overcome the rotten political manipulation, misuse and abuse of so much of the urban black population. I would support such leadership and agendas strongly, and think that many others here would do the same.
This political and human sin, boosted greatly by LBJ's "Great Society" scheme and stupidly funded increasingly since then, is now compounding itself in dramatic fashion. I liken those who perpetuate this to the black traders of old who sold fellow blacks into slavery..
The need for action is great - ethical black leadership is essential.

Yes, Charles Murray had this all figured out years ago. I don't believe the bell curve is more than a tiny part of what's going on in Baltimore.

If a person has experienced knowledge of urban areas in the 1950s and 60s for solid comparison with the present conditions, and understands what has happened inside the "education" scheme since then, one knows that this mess goes beyond any normal human conditions.
