I'll admit that I like Trump, but don't want to go through another term with him as president. He is just too abrasive and divisive to get anything done in DC and he is so narcissistic he just can't see it IMO...

So, let's say is wife convinces him not to run and he bows out- who do you think would be the best candidate to run against the dems in 2024?
Mitt Romney.

He doesn't make mean tweets.

Yeah I'm not sure that you've been paying attention, if you want a president that will go with the flow, and not make any waves in DC, then you deserve another swamp creature as POTUS.
JEB!
Can't believe nobody said Liz Cheney yet.
At this point, for sheer electability I suppose DeSantis has the edge. That said, I could vote for Cruz again.

Not going to happen. DeSantis has a target on his back, and when the time comes, the Media will declare him a killer of thousands regardless of the “real” numbers. Nothing is real when it comes to Covid numbers, nothing.

I kinda doubt his wife is in the drivers seat of that marriage.
DeSantis is as close to The Beltway as we should consider.

Any and all, inside The Beltway are nothing more than Establishment Loyalists and members of the Uniparty.

If it has to be a politician, then DeSantis, but I prefer another outsider, or the same outsider.
I like Ron DeSantis, Florida would lose a great governor but the USA would get a potentially great president.

What an incredibly stupid post this is. You’re a moron
DeSantis for the win!
Doesn’t matter anyway, the 2020 election was stolen, as will be the next one, the one after that and the one after that and so on.

“We have put together the most advanced election fraud network in history”
Joe Biden

This is still in place and there are No real attempts to undo it.
2016- I didn't want Trump in 2016. After the primary though, he was the candidate and got my vote.
I was wrong about him. The guy kicked azz. He wasn't perfect, but was damn close. Best Pres of my lifetime.

2020- was a no brainer.

2024- Trumps gonna be OLD. Fugk all these 80yo's. I don't care if he was abrasive, I Just don't need a octogenarian in decline sitting in the WH.
He needs to throw his ice cream eaten' azz behind a candidate and stay in the news cycle chirping at the Dems, raising money, and pushing the America First platform until he croaks.

Who will it be?
DeSantis sure seems poised for it.

Some of the people I’d like to see in there in either position, and in any combination:

Candace Owens
Kristi Noem
Ron DeSantis
Donald Trump Jr.

Well, you live in TX, so your vote may actually count as cast, no Dominion, but most of the rest of the country will cast a vote and have no idea if it is canceled, switched, or recorded as cast.
DeSantis/Noem for 8 years
Noem/Trump Jr for 8 years
Trump Jr/Owens for 8 years

Outsiders all, nice list
We need people who don't want to be president.

The list of contenders are too interested in it.
Stanley McChrystal, Paul Howe for VP.

DeSantis sure seems poised for it.

that is pretty much where I'm at on Trump for 2024. I think he needs to work with someone to pass the baton.
I'm with RTE, Trump got stuff done. I don't care how "mean" he was, or how "abrasive and divisive" his tweets were. It needed to be said, and he had the backbone to say it. Remember "Drain the Swamp".

Unfortunately, Trump will be too old to run again in my opinion. And - he's the messenger, not the message. We need a younger candidate to carry the torch. Who that might be is yet to be determined. The Swamp Critters and the media will try to smear possible candidates like DeSantis between now and then.

+1 .

People who talk the ''he's so abrasive'' ''he says mean things'' must be the biggest puzzy in their county . Sickening -- show me one time when President Trump attacked someone for no reason -- YOU CAN'T - when someone talks some schit some people don't stand there and take it . It's called BEING A MAN .

Kristi N. - yeah right - she wouldn't get a damn thing done she's proven to be a go-along

Same

Trump is getting too old, and the powers in the DC conspiracy...FBI, CIA, DOJ...etc will stop him again.

DeSantis and Noem can win.

So, let's say is wife convinces him not to run and he bows out- who do you think would be the best candidate to run against the dems in 2024?
....................Oh yeah? Like he was too abrasive and too narcissistic to get anything done during his 4 years as POTUS? When IN FACT, he accomplished more and got more things accomplished for the GOOD of the country than any other POTUS in American history? Ya mean that abrasive and narcissistic Trump?

Some people like you look at the style vs SUBSTANCE. And in so doing when ya focus on style rather than substance, you could wind up with a far worst alternative. Trump stood up to the establishment, the elites, the corrupt and lying propaganda news media and even the RHINOS in his own party. He stood up against our enemies, did NOT appease them nor negotiate with them, stood up to NATO telling them to pay their fare share for their own defense. AMERICA FIRST!! And on and on I could go with Trump's list of accomplishments.

Trump would have AND DID handle the Taliban and Afghanistan far differently than the incompetent clown we now have sitting in the oval office. And you are worried about Trump being too abrasive and too narcissistic? Aaaaaaaah...PO BABY!

Why the hell don't ya put our country's best interests ahead of your damned complaining.

Well, got the expected answers from the expected people so all is right in the campfire world. Trump made some great strides as president and got a lot done, that is pretty evident. However, his constant fights with anyone who even slightly disagreed with him- including his own cabinet members and members of Congress and the Senate made life more difficult for the really big items he wanted to get through. Most of his accomplishments were through executive order and those are far too easily set aside by the next president with the stroke of a pen.... Add in what has been stated above that he will be almost 80 at the 2024 election and it should be obvious we need some younger blood in the White House who knows a bit about how government runs along with having enough backbone to make the changes and big decisions and defend them. Never underestimate the power of knowing how to play the game if you expect to accomplish the big items on Capitol hill....

Desantis, Noem, Cruz, and a few others would have the talent, backbone, and skills to accomplish what the country needs IMO...

There are a few others I am also interested in but will wait to see what colors they show in the next couple years before forming an opinion on them...
Your question is moot.

President Trump will run.

I would choose Biden again.
I'm not considering anyone other than Donald Trump. If he decides to not run then I'll have choices. Maybe none of them will work out and as far as I'm concerned that's a bigger reality than any of them being good enough to right the ship. Every day I pray for Donal Trump and his family and that if It's God's will for him to run again I have faith he'll have the health and strength for the job. To say that he's too abrasive brings to mind people that get into a fight thinking they won't have to be all in. If that's your mindset your butt is getting beat. Trump never took the oath of office to accept defeat.

Suits me.
POTUS Trump is the greatest president the USA has ever seen and will ever see. Having said that, DJT can better serve as the King-Maker vs being King himself.

....................Well good. I'm glad that you got the answer or the post you expected from me....There were a few legislative moves that Trump got through congress; namely the individual tax cuts, the corporate tax cuts from 35% down to 21% and a few other pieces of legislation. You are right about the executive orders which can be cancelled by the next POTUS. Nevertheless Trump executed them for the good of the country and America first.....

I would rather have a 90 YEAR OLD as POTUS who's conservative policies puts America and the Constitution first rather than some younger POTUS, who may be more more polished around the edges, more stylish with better diction, who may be less obtrusive and blah blah blah, who in turn DOES NOT put America nor its people first.

Now if Trump runs in 2024 and wins the nomination and runs against some big libTURD socialist demCRAP such as Biden or some other scumbag liberal,,,WHO YA GONNA VOTE FOR Sheister?? Ya gonna put the well being of your country ahead of your FEELINGS? HMMMM??.............Feelings,,,nothing more than feelings,, da de da de da de da. Yep! You know how the song goes.
Pete Buttigieg. Let's break that rainbow glass ceiling!

Trump DeSantis.
Let President Trump run for Potus.
Then he resigns at 2 yrs 1 day due to "health"
Mystery appt from President Trump ???? Owens as press secretary.....

Which all this allows DeSantis to run for 2 terms himself after he finishes out the 2 yrs from President Trump.
DeSantis then picks Owens as his VP.

Liberal Socialist Democrats heads will spin.
And them attacking a conservative black woman will not work out for them across many Demographics including blacks themselves.

Spin the Liberal Socialist Democrats Schit against them....

If the 2022 3 peat of election fraud goes down.
All bets are off and we are done as a constitutional republic....

Well, if Trump is the candidate against anyone after the primaries he gets my vote without hesitation but that remains to be seen even with all the ballyhoo going on at the moment.... but if it comes down to having to vote for an alternate candidate is what the question really is .... good to have alternatives in case things happen. And we have all found out how "things can happen"....
I would rather see him stay in the game as a fund raiser and one who can use his power and influence to help members within his party to be elected for other offices.

Rest assured......ms Lindsey will be tossing her garter in the ring just long enough to remind the world what she would do as president.
quote=Sheister]I'll admit that I like Trump, but don't want to go through another term with him as president. He is just too abrasive and divisive to get anything done in DC and he is so narcissistic he just can't see it IMO...

So, let's say is wife convinces him not to run and he bows out- who do you think would be the best candidate to run against the dems in 2024? [/quote]

The problem with your post is that the President of the United States is elected to do a job in compliance with the requirements of law stated within the US Constitution.

Trump did that better than any predecessor and successor. Opinions on his style bring no value to any argument. He got the job done under the duress of more inhibitors than again, any predecessor or successor. He will stand in 2024 and he is possibly the only person who could turn around the current and potential damage to be done by the Opposition.

You voted for Biden so no one here really gives a crap about your opinion.

Your post is a good representation of your opinion, but misses one very large point- part of the President's job is to work with the legislative branch to get important legislation passed to help the American people in the long run. If you can't work with the legislative branch you won't get long term bills passed and have to legislate in the short term by executive order, which is a bandaid as we have seen with Biden reversing practically every executive order Trump wrote- no matter their worth .... Trump was a great president by many standards but could have accomplished really long lasting help for the american people if he could have learned to work with the Senate and Congress- many of whom were on his side but somehow he didn't trust or support in their efforts.... if Trump had a weakness, this was it...
Trump isn't going to run in 2024. He may not have the legal right to cast a vote in 2024.
Montana governor Greg Gianforte.

Your opposition reply infers that someone else could have done a better job that Trump?
As you will be aware, throw away criticisms are almost a patent of the left.

In order to validate your throw away criticism, please explain whom that may have been better and why?

I said that his company would be charged with felonies and that his CFO would be charged with felonies. And his company and his CFO were indeed charged with felonies.

There will be more charges against his company, the officers of his company, and him individually.

You can pretend otherwise. Enjoy.

..................I will enjoy. Cuz ya see there Admiral sir. It is one thing to file charges. It is totally another thing to make them stick with guilty verdicts and get convictions.. We both know Admiral sir, that the NY AGs office is simply trying to keep Trump from running in 2024. They are just interested in manufacturing whatever crimes they can with the hopes that anything may stick. Even if nothing sticks, then they are hoping for negative publicity there admiral sir!

No need to worry with. Until all states decide to hold legal elections we need not bother voting. Doesn't appear that anyone gives a XXXX so we will continue to let the Democrats install their own choices. GW
The red democrats (that's y'all) won't go for Paul. So Desantis/Noem seems like the ticket. Desantis favors big government and has never had a real job. That fits the bill for big government, progressive republicans.

At this point we need someone willing to forgo building a legacy in favor of a hard four years of cleaning house. You have to look way, way back to find a president who might have done so.

Trump won in a landslide and they still stole it!

As far as Trump, he tried to accomplish more when he was in office, but the RINOs never helped him!

Our government is so corrupt a politician will never get us out of this mess. Its corrupt politicians that sold us out and they are still in the majority. It will take someone like Trump (if there is anyone) who is not bought and paid for by the establishment. MAGA.

He needs to throw his ice cream eaten' azz behind a candidate and stay in the news cycle chirping at the Dems, raising money, and pushing the America First platform until he croaks.

Who will it be?
DeSantis sure seems poised for it.

This totally mirrors my voting for & current opinion of Trump. He's a tough & determined man, but having an 80 yo for pres isn't a good move.

True enough, but I would add that the problem was not that Trump couldn't or wouldn't work with Congress, it was that Congress wouldn't work with Trump. What Trump accomplished with an uncooperative Congress was nothing short of miraculous.
If Trump wasn't on the ballot, I'd write him in.

So, let's say is wife convinces him not to run and he bows out- who do you think would be the best candidate to run against the dems in 2024?

Excellent response.

There are extraordinary men who have major accomplishments even in their late seventies.Unfortunately most men don't fit this category and they have no sense of what is possible for those rare and extraordinary men.
Love me some trump but he’s going to need a strong vp and rand Paul has been tearing into fauci I believe they’d make a good team
no question.... even if I get 10 emails a day that I delete of them begging for money.... Trump.
