So I am pulling up to the gas pump yesterday, and I see a 50-60’s-ish lady in her Honda Civic, wearing a mask while driving inside her car, pull up to the pump about the same time and start fussing with her mask. I thought no big deal - people wear masks nowadays (I am not one of them), and must be straightening it out before exiting her car. So as I start pumping gas in my car, I look over at her, and notice what she was doing was putting on an additional mask. I thought whatever. Then she proceeded to put on gloves to use the gas pump handle (guessing she was afraid there might be Covid germs on the handle. Then she went over to the towel dispenser on the gas pump island, get a couple of towels, and carefully placed them on the gas pump handle so as to use the towels as an additional barrier besides the gloves.
It must be a terrible thing to live in that kind of fear.
I could only imagine she has already been fully vaccinated with the most current dose available, but still lives in that kind of fear. I wondered if she hasn’t seen family and friends in months/years, and has her food delivered.
I felt sad that there are people who live isolated, alone, and with that kinda fear.
I was in Baltimore airport last weekend and noticed a 60+ woman,as she sat down across from me. She had a mask on(everyone in airport had to) she then put on a second mask, then proceeded to eat some nuts/cashews or such by pulling the 2 masks down between each handful of peanuts.
We know an older 70+ couple who are about as paranoid as that described by the OP. Scarcely ever been out of the house except for groceries in last 18 months. They get home with the groceries and wipe down every article with sanitizing wipes before taking it in the house.

I love that!
The sanitizing wipes are anti-bacterial......this is a virus we are dealing with.

They are not really living.
Another Campfire member finally bumped into Sycamore.
There's a very attractive Oriental lady that comes in the Walmart Neighborhood Market by my house. Wouldn't know what she looks like these days, though. Always has a full face mask, big Marilyn Monroe sunglasses, long gloves, long dresses, and a huge woven sun hat (whatever that's for?).
Wipes everything down. Don't blame her for that part. Lotta ball scratchers and butt sniffers around here.
Damn shame that people are scared to death of something that kills less than ONE percent of the people who get COVID-19. There's a lot of people who wear a mask into and out of a restaurant. Talk about some dumb SOB's.
There is a clown that works for the corn processing facility that I'm working at in KCMO that wears a mask, goggles and a face shield. Along with the blue latex gloves. I don't understand n the fear either. The place requires a mask everywhere but in the break room Actually the mask requirement is a Jackson County mandate. Mayor Quintin Lucas can kiss the really brown part of my ass too ! Very few of the building trades workers there comply with the mandate
I saw an idiot riding his bicycle down the road wearing a mask the other day. And a black lady in the grocery store wearing one. She was the only one in the whole store wearing one.
I just shake my head and laugh at them.
Makes it easier to spot the Commie Socialist DemoRat’s.
Could be that she has some real problem with lungs or such and contracting covid would mean her death. Don't judge some one unless you know for sure the circumstances
Used to see quite a few folks with masks on before all this bull chit started.
Mowing, painting, sanding, or just simply an Asian. Asians have loved their masks for decades. Guess that happens when you have a billion and a half people all chitting in a handful of cities.

I didn’t think I was judging.
Guess I have a different way of looking at life is all. I have been through a lot, so my perspective is just different.
One of my favorite movies is Shawshank Redemption. In the movie has a line that sums up how I feel: “Get busy living, or get busy dying.”

The women clearly had a phobia. She was not taking scientifically rational precautions.

I had someone remark to me that I wasn't wearing a mask....I pointed to my shadow and said " Look! I'm not afraid of my shadow either!"
I have the perfect answer for that. A mask doesn't stop smoke, and it doesn't stop a fart. How's it going to stop a molecule?
I agree masks are useless as employed by the general public, but viruses are not molecules. They are orders of magnitude larger. Also, the aerosols the virus is carried on consists of more than a single virus. So the whole fart analogy does not work.

Oh, that statement works alright.
You should see the looks on their faces when I get to the fart part. Lol.
The most ridiculous thing that I’ve seen was at the peak of the Covid panic a woman smoking a cigarette in her car at a park with gloves on while pulling her mask down just long enough to take a puff exhale and then pull the mask back up.

You should have asked her how long we can live and still use lawn mowers.
The ones that really tick me off are the fuggs wearing their schit under their nose. Usually a old white hag.... Or some fat fugg on a scooter with a dirty t shirt and sweat pants on. In the aisle where all varieties of cheetos are or the ice cream or soda aisles.

i see people walking around outside or driving alone and wearing masks all the time. i think its become a binky (pacifier) for them. take it away and they go ape schit. and ya, the filthy masks pulled down below the nose are a sure sign of idiocy. that and the fuggen face shield. that takes the cake.

You should have asked IdiotCa35 for an autograph…
I don't wear a mask when driving but only when it's a requirement to enter a building. Around here that's danged few places.
Maybe you should have tried harder to finish the third grade.
It's been my observation (here in my area at least) the ones who I see most often always wearing face masks, shields, etc., everywhere, all the time, are known hard-core democrats and their reasons are more to make a political statement and to 'appear' as if they 'care' about others welfare.

I feel the same way, but remember, she might not be afraid for herself. I know several people that are scared they will bring it into the house and cause a loved one to die. I know of a couple kids that are convinced they caused the death of their Dad. I have a couple very frail in-laws, and my kids are always worried they will be the one that causes them to catch Covid.

No one wore a mask when we had flu seasons every year and tens of thousands people died from the flu every year
I have no problem whatsoever with people wearing masks.
It makes it easy to identify the liberal arts majors.....
This is so true. We were at a HS football last fall and my wife and I were talking about all the liberals in our community that we didn't know were liberals. It makes em easy to ID.

She ain't the only one.
I was referring to more than the subject of the OP
The Bride and I spent 10 days in Italy visiting relatives and sight seeing. while Chinese were seeding the covid, found out later, in every city we visited. Nothing like standing in St. Peter's square with your favorite 10,000 Chinese friends on Sunday to see the Pope A month or so after we returned is when the covid fire drill started. Wife bought a box of masks, I tried one on didn't like it so cut the insides out so I had the blue showing, with no discomfort to me. Found out the mask guards didn't notice and let me pass. Keep that mask for months, finally lost it. Finally got the jabs a month or so ago. I think what they used in the hypodermic was deionized water.
Damn shame that people are scared to death of something that kills less than ONE percent of the people who get COVID-19. There's a lot of people who wear a mask into and out of a restaurant. Talk about some dumb SOB's.
The restaurant thing drives me nuts. You can sit down for an hour and eat but don’t walk 15 seconds to your table without a mask.
We still have a mask mandate in LA. It is pretty much ignored, people finally had enough of the bs.
The hypocrisy abounds, wear mask on campus, but pack a football stadium is fine. Fire a border agent for not being vaccinated but allow 100k illegals in per month with no vaccinations and no telling what kind of diseases. Fire nurses for no vaccination after they worked with this crap for two years.
Better for them to worry about that mask than buy all the TP.
No doubt LT !
They'll do both.
All they have to do is see one Facebook post where someone says they couldn't find TP, and the panic buying will commence.
Maybe they can wipe their asses with the pile of used masks they must surely have..?
Barry, I don't know how it is where you live, but maybe all these covtard Green New Deal turds could start a Yugely helpful Save The Earth project by picking up all the masks they've thrown on the ground everywhere.

She may indeed have some sort of condition, but as Fauci has pointed out several times, The mask has zero affect on protecting against this or any virus.

I guess she didn't follow the science
C'mon man. Haven't you heard? Nobody dies from the flu anymore. The "data" says so.
What drives me nuts is all the doctors that are spewing the Covid rhetoric right out of the Dem handbook. I have been around more than my share in the last two years with my parents health issues and 99% are either brainwashed to the max or they're outright lying.
