We just started watching it a week ago. Been bingewatching, up into 3rd season. Wife gets mad at me. Looking at the houses, they aren't houses on a 7 generation ranch. They are wannabe ranchers lodges. The Cabella's decor sets it off.
Really like the I-Joists visible under Rip's porch.

Amen.
Not realistic for a family owned ranch for generations, and for that many generations. There's a saying...and it usually holds true. Most likely that place would have been lost/sold three plus generations ago.
Anyone that worked on a big outfit like they are claiming on the Yellowstone, no women living in the bunkhouse. The whores would of been booted, not hired.
The roping scenes are lacking, other than chasing one down the arena at the home place. Oh wait and roping one bull?
Dillonbuck & Coweater: Don't you two think that over "7 generations" (approximately 140 years!) that one of the latter generations would build a "more modern home"?!? Sheesh. I have been on the grounds of that ranch and indeed I saw no signs of an older structure being torn down/reconstructed/modernized. Anyway its "Hollywood" and its entertainment - NOT exact historic type documentary! Sheesh.
As an aside - I love Beth's new car - its just like a wealthy friend of mines Mercedes. I took a drive with my friend along a siding road (East Nelson Siding Road west of Cle Elum, Washington) and was screaming for mercy when his Mercedes screamed past 120 M.P.H.! IIRC he stated his 4 door Mercedes has a horsepower rating of 570 H.P.! But when he and his wife went to the hot rod Mercedes manufacturing plant in Germany they told him his car actually has 590 H.P.! That Mercedes does 0 to 60 in 3.1 seconds.
I am really enjoying "Yellowstone" more and more but have become "disgusted" with "Big Sky" - to much homosexuality, metro-sexuality, bi-curious, lgbtgfaggy stuff and liberal leaning B.S. for me to enjoy Big Sky anymore. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

I had a big long reply then decided to go with, "You've been in Montana too long".
I got a kick out of Men's Health running a full recap of this season's final episode on Saturday evening, 1 / 1 / 2022, with all the details of what happened and to whom, 24 hours BEFORE it ever aired...
I thought the season finale was pretty good: glad to see Jimmy and his Texas fiance thriving down in Texas, the bunkhouse cat-fight was funny, Beth getting married was a positive. Chili with/without beans was hilarious, I thought of the 'Fire when that argument broke out.
Jamie Dutton has two murders to his credit now, I'll say he cracks up or gets forced out of office as AG next season. What a tortured soul that character is, and it's all of his own making.
Those log mansions are more typical of Jackson Hole than a working ranch. All the killing is over the top. But Beth is entertaining for sure. She's good with words.
I'm still wondering how "working cowboys" have so much extra time to play in the arena and the energy to party in the bunkhouse? He ain't working them like my old ranch boss worked us !
The season finale was great, I really enjoyed it. Beth is cold hearted woman.
I was excited to watch Big Sky, I am a big fan of C.J. Box novels. What a disappointment. I am really disappointed in CJ Box for signing off on that bull [bleep].
I can deal with an F-bomb here and there, but it seems that's the only word they know - even the kids. I had to sit through one episode when the sister-in-law and her husband visited, but no more, thankfully.
I have been watching it but it is starting to get a little old. Every dog in the county wanting the ranch, no where else to build anything except on the "Yellowstone". It is getting about as bad as "Dallas" in the last year or two before they pulled the pug on it.
Bought the DVD of the first season. It's really boring. The plot reminds me of "The Sopranos" but with cattle instead of drugs and garbage. But the Sopranos were way more sophisticated.

.
Yes, its too much.
Every series should stick to the Shakespeare model. Three scenes (seasons), and make it count, not filling space until it gets too bad to watch.
My wife loves it. I tolerate it. It is the modern version of Dallas. Everybody, even the Indians is corrupt probably even the animals. A sentence cannot be uttered without profanity. The cowboys that work the ranch play more than work. There are so many bodies buried out there one would think at some point people would be tripping over them. Nothing is taboo and now they are addressing the "Great Spirit" with that fasting seance involving a "protective wolf" if you can believe that. Roping a fellow through the window of a PU truck is borderline crazy. Still can't figure out why Jamie's significant other hates the family so much. She is just as diabolical and conniving as the rest of his circle though. The patriarch appears somewhat muddled. He cannot figure out why his daughter is so "afraid" and hates his adopted son so much. Although he's a cancer survivor and has recently suffered no less than six potentially fatal wounds, he can still fight as good or better than Rocky Marciano.
I can deal with an F-bomb here and there, but it seems that's the only word they know - even the kids!
Exactly! ^^^
Why?
Yep. The language could be calmed down. Unfortunately that kind of language is all over the TV nowadays. Over the holidays I was channel surfing and about every show on used inappropriate language. It’s just another reason to not watch TV.
Everything I have seen that was written or directed by Taylor Sheridan is at least decent. Yellowstone ain't perfect, but it beats the hell out of most other programs on right now. Hardly any homos, trans, ghetto thugs, rap music, etc. Plenty of mountain scenery, horses, leverguns, shootouts, fistfights. Does not feel like wasted hour to me each week.
Knowing full well how fickled Hollywood is, and with the spotlight shining so intensely on him now, I figure writer Taylor Sheridan is trying to grab all the loot he can, while he can, for as long as he can.
He's made a name for himself with Sicario and the sequel, Hell or High Water, Wind River on the big screen and now moving into writing TV serials which has become a quite lucrative genre with Yellowstone, 1883, 6666 and Mayor of Kingstown .
Watched a 2021 movie on HBO just last week that he wrote, directed and produced, tilted, Those Who Wish Me Dead, that starred, Angelina Jolie, and co-stared, Finn Little, the same boy that also plays Carter on Yellowstone.

Even a foul mouth like me thinks its a little much.
Absolutely. Headquarters Guthrie, TX King county. The story goes that a guy named Burk Burnett won it in a poker game with 4 6's. His daughter Ann Burnett died recently and it was sold in toto to a syndicate that involved the writer of Yellowstone.
Hell yes the 6666 is real. I worked there along time ago. Lived at the chuckwagon pulled by mules for months at a time during spring and fall gathering. Good cowboys and rough horses.

I thought the same thing when I tried to watch Deadwood. It was over the top. A good F bomb needs to come naturally 😁
It's been my experience over the past 30 years or so that I hear more and more females, especially younger ones, use profanity in common conversation fairly often as if it is no big deal and some worse than men do.
Is the acting and action better than Rat Patrol???
My man !! I have watched about 10 minutes of Yellowstone. I didn't get in to it. I stay up and watch Combat, Rat Patrol and 12 O'Clock High every Saturday night from my favorite recliner. When I'm tired I shut off the light and close my eyes. Still no Yellowstone.

They have to hollwierd the hell out of the show to make it more interesting. Doing cowboy stuff is just like flying, hours and hours of boredom with moments , of sheer terror
Question for you Texans. Is the 6666 ranch a real place?
Yep. It’s just right up the road a ways from my Ranch. My Great Grandfather and Great Great Grandfather both worked for the Six’s. My Great Grandfather was born on that Ranch.
Absolutely. Headquarters Guthrie, TX King county. The story goes that a guy named Burk Burnett won it in a poker game with 4 6's. His daughter Ann Burnett died recently and it was sold in toto to a syndicate that involved the writer of Yellowstone.
That’s a myth about Burk Burnett winning it in a poker game.
I watched the the first three episodes of the first season. Liked that the home "ranch" was in the Bitterroot. But couldn't stand it. Soap opera for metro men.
Why does Beth think she now owns Jaime? Because she has a picture of him dumping a body where her father and husband have also dumped dozens of others?

Nobody took a picture of Beth or John Dutton with a dead body, and if they did Rip would take them to the train station.....
My son and I were in Bozeman Saturday checking into a hotel.
A lady asked where we were from and then she shared she was from outside Houston. They had just decided to come to Montana to spend 5 days piddling around. She admitted she had never felt anything like the cold temps that day. I had to burst her bubble that it actually felt pretty good outside right then. It had warmed up and was in the low to mid teens. At home we had seen -20 a day or 2 before.
My boy was asking what possessed these people to fly in to Bozeman to just spend 5 days traveling around. I guessed it was the Yellowstone tv show. My son then asked how they film that show in the temps we had been having. And then he realized they never show any winter scenes in the show.
Beth character owns Jamie several times over. She has that picture of him dragging what appears to be a dead body. She also has kept the secret of what he did to her as a child. If either her father or Rip found out they'd make lampshades out of his hide while he watched. She could ruin his life many times over if he managed to live. Of course, they can make a character into anything they want. The little pigmy from NY should be the next unwilling resident of the ranch and could well be next season but I wouldn't expect any happy endings. Garrett got his just reward even if it was via blackmail. What was meant by the answer " I saw our end"? The end of his family or the end of the ranch? Don't expect it to be the end of the lunatic Mia. That quip about her being persistent was a clue. I would expect more misery in the life of Jimmy. The lunacy won't ever stop unless they end the series.

Jimmy will become the new 'cutting horse' rider.................
Jimmy will become the new 'cutting horse' rider.................
I'd sure be fine with all that "horsetard" BS hitting the floor in the editing room.
Absolutely can't stand that crap. It's got zero to do with working ranches, and everything to do with people who have too much money, and are too ignorant to know not to waste it on horses in an arena.

I started off liking yellowstone but I can do without it now, way too many story lines. A lot of bad acting too, Casey, his wife, and son....those are the worst scenes ever....cant act worth crap. Jamie cant either. I dont know the fixation on Jimmy either, no one cares about Jimmy. How is Casey not in jail, seems he has to kill someone every time he goes to the store.

john Dutton owns a team and makes a lot of money off the winnings. His way of bringing attention to the ranch.
Watched about 15 minutes of season one when it was originally on Paramount. Cosner haggling with the Sheriff. Never watched it again.
Fall of 2020 we got Peacock TV on our cable provider. Started Yellowstone on season one and eventually started watching it all the way through season three, when I had nothing better to do that winter. It's fairly entertaining and well written The scenery, nags, firearms, Beth's anatomy and the dialogue is okay. Agreed the F notes are over done, but that word lost its luster years ago, from common usage.
Don't watch much TV, other than history stuff and anything that's interesting on Smithsonian, AHC, etc. No weekly network series and none of that "reality" crap which seems to be popular..
Watch Yellowstone because it's usually entertaining, nothing more, nothing less.
Rockin b bar nailed it...too much money. As far as barrel racers go, it's about the same thing. The more your parents or husband can afford, the better your horses, the better your horses the more you win. If you take first in the NFR, you have just about paid for 1/4 of your pickup and trailer. Brat hobby. Behind every successful barrel racer is a ton of money.

So they made a slave out of ol Carter....has to sleep in the barn, gets cussed at regular, talked down to by Rip & Beth, yet John just wants a riding buddy...Monica and Tate should divorce kacey and get their own trailer back at the Rez, dress Indian, etc. I kinda like Kacey lighting people up, so give him more ammo. Beth needs to get on prozac or be institutionalized, give everybody a break (" I'm so depressed, I didn't know they were going to sterilize me" because I was only 15 and couldn't read, blah!) lol

Yep.
I used to team rope...a lot. Was even married to a barrel racer for a while. Behind every successful barrel racer is a puzzy whipped sad sack who saddles her horses, drives her everywhere, and takes her orders. His life is hell if he doesn’t, or if she ain’t winning all the time. Her daddy is usually extremely relieved to have that sad sack take over his chores when she’s of age. Ask me how I know..
It’s always been a money game, even more so now. Gotta have the newest truck and trailer, constant vet bills, new horses. And a new groom/driver (I.E., sad sack) when the current one is tired of her schidt. No matter how good that stuff is, it ain’t worth it for long.

JMO.
Dated a couple of 'horse hags' as a yute....didn't learn after the first, swore to never again after the second.
I like how the men lacking in skill are sent from Montana to Texas to become real cowboys.
Sure would be fun to see what happens if a sign like that^^^^^was put up in Elko or Winnemucca. Bigger grin.
Yep. The people with money made elsewhere(read, not cow money) buy a ranch in Montana. They may have owned for years but that's not where the money comes from.
Not bashing the 4-6's, different style of cowboying, different country.
But go live in a pack rat infested line camp in Nevada. Claude Dallas didn't go there for vacation...
If I'd ever win the lottery, a large sized ranch in Montana would be the first item on the list to buy.
A lot of people on the Fire would agree with me on this.
I'm sure they would and y'all can spend your pretend money as you wish. Spending my pretend money, it's not going where the growing season is too short and the rich democrats flock for vanity ranching as a tax write off.
I'll run cattle where the land is cheap, cattle are thin skinned and wild, cattle that gain on the run. I can calve in May and sell calves just as heavy, yet I didn't have to struggle to keep them dummy farmer calves alive since January.
FWIW I think the "Train Station" must be down by Frannie, Wyoming.. It's a stupid television show guys. It's not suppose to be real.
The Yellowstone writers missed a golden opportunity to add a real "Yellowstone" touch to the story. The "Train Station" should have been a secret backroad trail to a remote hot spring pool in Yellowstone Park. Boiling sulfuric acid water would dissappear a body, clothes and all, overnight. Nothing left but plastic buttons. And no circling buzzards to attract curious people.
I haven't seen even one episode - almost definately won't.
My wife watched this week's episode (her first) to see what it was about- I ain't starting there, so I went upstairs and read.
Today I asked her how she liked it, and if we should try to find the beginning seasons. 15 minutes later, she was still talking..... (She's from Miles City)
Finally I said - "that was a yes or no question, dammit!"
"Well, I think I have to watch another one to see."
I'm taking that as a no, until further notice, and certainly won't bring it up again myself.
What I'll get in 6 months or a year is, "Why haven't you found those first (*) seasons yet?"

can't watch it without starting from season 1 ......my golly.... would a guy be lost doing that...besides there better shows imo....me I got to watch ,and I never watch the end where they say next time of ..blah blah..never!

CowEater did you ever know Claude? I went to his trial (first one) and will never forget how he handled himself on the witness stand. I know just what you mean about pack rat infested line camps in Nevada, though the one I stayed in for a short while wasn't really a line camp, it was a remote Forest Service cabin in the south end of the Ruby Mtns.
Most series set in the modern world bore me. I'm living here after all. I get enough drama (make believe and otherwise) as is to fill my plate. TYhe only reason I'd watch Yellowstone is for the scenery - and that's pretty lacking on the female side, as far as I've looked. The landscape is apt to be decent.
I watched one episode of Dallas, 1.1 of Seinfield and Friends (nope- not funny -1st episode wasn't an un-funny fluke)!).
I've watched Vikings and Man In the Castle, end to end, working on Wheel of Time and a sci-fi - can't recall the name off hand.
Not much funny on TV since Carol Burnett, Tim Conway, etc. The "drama" series are worse than the "comedies"
I like the show,, no its not authentic, just like Ozark isnt, but its better than [bleep] like tyrone Perry or whatever the fuQ they keep showing ,,Aint been a good series since last man standing or home improvment and the like,,, TV pretty much sux, I do wish they would show more horse and cattle working scenes,,

Beth shows boob in first or second episode of first season
I bought seasons 1-3 on fleabay. Now up to do 4 on on demand. Love the whole thing but that pipe stem legged Monica stirs my pot. Imagine a threesome with her and beth.
It's my believe that like the 1883 series and The Mayor of Kingstown series was, an episode or two of the 6666 series will probably be initially aired on the regular Paramount network as a 'teaser' to draw a audience and from then on will be aired on Paramount's paid subscription service.

I did not. I was just a pup then. Know some guys that know him and worked with him there.
Line camp, FS cabin, in that neck of the woods they all get infested. I'm guessing you were down by the refuge?
