I don't see this ending well

It is amazing how swift change comes with elections. I lived in Calgary, oil and gas, from 2005 - 2009, and it was a nice place to live and work. Stephan Harper ran the place. I was born and raised in NorCal leaving in 1995 for west Texas. I would visit my parents and in-laws annually and of course change was obvious. That said, in the last five years of my Father's life change was dramatic year on year.

Now that he declared an national emergency, I'm sure that brings all kinds of tyrant tactics and resources to the table. These fugks, including in our own country wave the banner of freedom and democracy, but whenever they feel threatened, they simply redefine the situation and become a dictator. They get it both ways. Dictatorship on demand while cloaking themselves in freedom. Of course if Trump ever pulled that, they'd be screaming coup from the rooftops and deploying weaponized civil unrest everywhere.

That is actually Chrystia Freeland, our Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, which is more or less the second highest ranking in any ruling government's hierarchy.

Her training for that position was that she has a Bachelor's Degree in Harvard in Russian History and Literature and a Master's Degree in Slavonic Studies from Oxford. She's also been invited to the meetings in Davos, Switzerland for whatever that's worth.

Not bad for a lady who came out of the Peace River country in Alberta - or completely terrible - depending upon one's viewpoint I'd suggest, no?

Oh and then she was a journalist in such esteemed pillars of truth as the Washington Post, Financial Times and other legacy media. She was in the Ukraine for a good long time reporting there too before getting into Canadian politics.
