Was put in vandy ICU yesterday morning. I had no clue and was down their from 10am ish to 5 pm... He sent me a txt this morning around 10 am . Got the frigging thing about 2 hrs ago. Always been a network issue at times between us .
Anyways Said he crashed and burned hard total jellyfish 0 strength
Potassium issues big time Got a neck port for dialysis Said he had 1 session and they was looking at # 2 2 units of blood.

In step down ICU now , said he is feeling somewhat better.
Sorry to hear of this I know from my limited experience how much hospital rooms suck wind Never served pen time, but it can't be much worse Prayers for recovery

Damn....I spent 10 days in the hospital cuz of low potassium. Borderline ICU. Only way they found my fungal infection was through a urine test. Docs couldn't figure it out.
Im sure his wife and kids are worried sick right now. From the 1st text he sent, Said basically couldnt walk or control musclar function. His son got him down to vandy hauling azz . Waiting for extra 40 mins for ambulance to get him at house to interstate for the 35 min ride to vandy didnt seem to be a option for him and he made decision to get on the road.

Talked to other customers she knows and said she has a form ready to go and can start tanning his tommorow , get it mounted in 2 or 3 days and a 5 or 6 day dry time. And be ready for pickup then

Yep: that’s where I thought that was going for second. Hell, I’ve thought about stuffing some really good dogs. I had one in my freezer for awhile cuz I couldn’t let go.
It took one of us 2 maybe 3 yrs to kill that buck. Both of us kinda suspect it was the starsky and hutch buck from 2019 run in. In 2020 I seen him twice about 125 yds out trotting thru heavy oaks On a east west running ridge across the one I was on 1st time behind a doe covering ground fast no shot. 2nd time bird dogging nose to ground at times on hoof scent about 4 days later covering ground . Maahhhhed at him loud as hell 4 or 5 times with the scope on him. Just hoping he would pause in a opening for a shot. No shot... Slumlord seen him once at the head and flat of both ridges chasing a doe.
No shot.
Early spring 2021 we moved his stand down that ridge about 300 yds down to looking into the wide feeder valley area coming up into the 2 ridges. Cleared shooting lanes. Make a 180° death star setup from his stand on the north ridge the buck had been using consistently. His tree rubs and scrapes all around Multiple 5 to 10vyd wide lanes going out 75 80 yds max Got natrual vegetarian left alone 10 25 yds between them.
2nd day of ML 1st time sitting in that stand for him 2021. Heavy acorn drop and still dropping in the spot. Im like 900 yds away on east side hunting one of my death star shooting lane spots Never even heard the shot due to terrian.
2 or 3 does went past him. Buck coming behind them about 50 yds back. Slumlord said that buck was ready to hit a lane but stopped behind a oak for 10 or 15 mins. The bucks need to follow them does over came his caution he had for some reason. Deer 6th sense many of us have experienced. Slumlord waylayed him with his Savage ML II. Sends me a pic of him doing a selfie with a nice buck. And another of it on the ground. Im like you just drop that buck or is that some pic from back when. He didnt reply. Call him outta curiosity. You just kill that thing?? I aint heard no shot except 2 over here about 1/2 mile away at least. And what I thought was a very faint shot waay west of you.
Yep he is a big buck .

It all worked out moving slumlords stand down that ridge into a doe area on a sunny slope with acorns on a western slope.

If he is home and well enough for a ride. We can go pick it up Or I can bring it to him

I just got done texting him. Some high drama in the e room to get a port in his neck. Had little time to get him up to surgery to do it. Gave him locals to get it in fast. He wasnt digging that or the procedure. He has a lot going on....

Not a med guru . I think but not sure it is for circuit flow thru the dialysis machine. A in and a out sorta constant flow thing.
Its working for him per last text. Said his potassium level was critical and that was why they didnt have time to get him to ER and sedated to put it in. So they time saved waiting on ambulance to get him versus him telling his son to haul azz probably was the thing to do.
Thoughts and prayers for your family also, surely hard on them as well !!

Just got off the ph with him. Good long talk. Voice sounds alot more upbeat than what it did last week for sure. That was reassuring to have him in a talkative mode. Even started laughing and talking about the movie animal house. I dont how we wound up at that??? 🥴🥴🥴🤣🤣🤣🤣

Still got things he has to beat. Told me today he has alot going on with dialysis treatments. Might visit tommorow depending on his med stuff going.
Potassium is under control, and he explained in his in depth way how that affects all portions of body from brain to heartbeat.
Was a good talk °360 all around. Me and him still have ground to cover face to face talking. Alot of things cant be addressed via txt or ph call.
Got teams of med types in and out all the time. Fugging with his sleep at times. Nothing like hitting Rem stage multiple times and getting yanked outtta it.
The franken port in his neck is a PITA for him but he is dealing with it. He knows you guys are pulling for him and he appreciates that. He truly does. 👍👍👍 Talked about his mount and the lady taxidermist Said his son jacob gonna get in his stash of cash at the house and link up with me for the taxi fee. So that is taken care of guys. And all the offers from many of you sent to me is greatly appreciated guys. Things are working out in that matter. Just had to talk to the lady and see if the ball could get rolling which it did. 👍👍👍
Things are looking and sounding better, but he aint outta the woods by far at all yet. But is starting to be able to take steps in the direction needed. Still got ongoing battles he will have to fight. The battles are probably not gonna go away per his overall health But he will be able to hold his own from what we have talked about. I know he is able to say things to me and me to him neither of us can broach with our own familes in a situation like this. Basically blunt to the point factual discussion without fear of eithers feelings being hurt or injecting fear into a relatives mind. Sometimes relatives can severely overreact which is a natrual reaction.
Basically people need a vent/ pressure valve release to a friend at times about stuff. A process that one might need that family dont need to hear for various reasons.
You all know what Im saying....

That intrajugular port is a bitch, wife had one multiple times during the 10+ years she was on dialysis. Fistulas and grafts clot off eventually, when that happens they got to stick that damn thing back in your neck.

I've been in that hospital several times back in my days working in Cardiology, and have scrubbed into a few cases down there, nursing new reps along as a Trainer when they were new hires....This was back in the late 80s early 90s... Impressive place, and had a great cardiology Dept... open heart cases and coronary angioplasty cases...

I should talk though, I had my wife stop at an RV dealer to look at a nice used travel trailer they just got in while we were headed home after my prostate cancer surgery. Here I was wearing a Foley catheter bag walking around in January outside on their lot. I’m hopefully smarter now, and hoping the same for Slummy.

I should talk though, I had my wife stop at an RV dealer to look at a nice used travel trailer they just got in while we were headed home after my prostate cancer surgery. Here I was wearing a Foley catheter bag walking around in January outside on their lot. I’m hopefully smarter now, and hoping the same for Slummy.
When he got out of the transplant after like 5 or 6 weeks in the hospital little under 6 years ago he had me carting him around looking for a Ruger 1911 style pistol the day after he got home.
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ Blew my mind. Lotsa breaks . But he bought a pistol.
Glad to hear he is home and feeling somewhat better. I hope he doesn't over do the activity and keeps improving. This place isn't near as fun without him.
That’s a great reminder to all of us. We’re going to be dead(physically) for a real long time! So if meat or pistol shopping brings you joy, well let’s get it on!! After the fog of anesthesia and hospitalization wanes, super clarity of life, pleasure and passions become crystal clear. Good on you Slum and Rene!
