Yes, in many ways.
But not all.
I know quite a few people who have made up illnesses.

would you describe , i avoided stepping on cracks when i was a kid.(and my mother's back had nothing to do with it).
lots of superstitious things have roots in OCD.
OCD is a broad brush……
have you noticed some smokers lit a cigarette but they already know they can't inhale and don't enjoy it and they put it off, is that OCD?
In a few things I do.
Do wives count? Both of mine, the ex and the current one, would probably qualify.

I am gonna get the paper get the paper
My boss has "CDO"

It's like OCD,but worse, all the letters have to be in the right order.
Can only wipe my butt with my right hand, does that count.
You know, back in the day we didn't know anything about OCD. If someone did something out of the norm we would just say "he's set in his ways"
lucky rabbit foot
OCD, BPD, NPD,...

I live with all of it. I dug a fire pit where I burn a lot of the OCD accumulation,...I say "shut da fug up" to the rest of it.

It's just something a man adapts to.

All women are nuts. Some more than others.

I just roll with it these days.
very extreme cases of OCD is always present with other illnesses. Chris Farley is an example. heroin , cocaine ,, alcohol , prostitutes, eating disorder .. he had it all
.
Women who aren't typically crazy as it results to women eventually gets their tits cut off, stick a Zucchini in their britches, and start talking like Popeye the fuggin' Sailor Man.

So a man has to make a decision. Do you want a woman?,........or do you want Popeye the fuggin Sailor Man?

Had a guy working for me years ago. Had terrible ocd about cleaning things.

First clue was we went to a bar on new years eve while on the road. Just going to have drinks and sit around BS. He goes and gets a towel and completely cleans the table tops where we were sitting. They were not dirty, AT ALL.

Couple examples: We worked pretty much every day and often drove 300-500 miles at night to get to the next place. Every minute delayed getting on the road, was a minute less sleep a guy got. He would stand outside the truck for over 10 minutes methodically cleaning every bit of the tread of his work boots before getting in the truck. Spend half an hour cleaning stuff that would immediately be dirty as heck the next morning. Drove me insane. Final straw was when we were in a hotel one afternoon.I hear the water in the tub running forever. I looked in the open door and he is sitting there scrubbing one of his ball caps with a toothbrush. I joked he might need medication. Holy buckets did he blowup. I think I touched a nerve.

I wanted to feel sorry for his fiance, but she was a real peach too.
I had OCD. Everything had to be done in multiples of three, to the extent possible, or I'd expect bad things to happen. I ate lunch at 12:33 every day, always stopped the gas pump when it showed .33, checked door locks three times before leaving, etc.
My hunting buddy. Love him like a brother, drives me nuts. Most anal, OCD person I’ve ever met. He’s been that way his whole life.

Ron
A shooting buddy has it pretty bad, or I should say he has it pretty good as he's found wonderful outlets for it. He started shooting benchrest matches & in about 10 years from never having been to one he's won two national championship matches in 1 association & 2 time shooter of the year in his class in another association. His pickiness & having all his ducks in a row worked perfectly for him.

But that wasn't enough. He wanted more control over things, bought a lathe & mill & in just a short time his barrel chambering jobs were winning matches.

I set up & leveled his lathe for him when he first got it & felt pretty good about my work. He since told me that after he watched me & better understood the procedure, he went back later & re-did it. The schithead.
Have you seen the garage thread?
Worked with a dude that was pretty bad, he would bring his lunch every day and watching him eat was a real show. I felt bad for the guy. Come to find out he and his siblings were abused growing up. Some things he couldn't get away from, every time he'd sit down he put his knee's together and put both hands flat on his thighs. Very good tech but some of the customers would ask for another tech as he would weird a few out. Everything had to be done right by the book, he could not stand being out of the "box".
I have never met a smart programmer who didn't have OCD , it's a requirement. because finding a solution to a computer requires iterative approach.

programmers will tell you they come with answer while on the john or shower , driving etc...
most of Germany

first time I was there there were Krauts raking the forest , cleared up some things for me anyway.
Funny as hell video. Reminds me of Lady Macbeth.
It is only Obsessive Compulsive Disorder if it causes the person to be dysfunctional... I am OC, Obsessive Compulsive about certain things. Being OC helps me to be a very proficient Project Manager. I have never had a "perfect" project. But they go in on time, on budget, and deliver expected functionality...

Most people prefer their surgeons to be Obsessive Compulsive about performing the very best surgery possible. Most people would prefer their airline pilots are OC taking off and landing aircraft by the numbers.

You are just like Nicola Tesla.

"It’s reported that Tesla started showing symptoms of OCD around 1917 when he became obsessed with the number three. It had to be a three, or a multiple of three. When taking his daily swim at the public pool, he always swam 33 laps, but if he lost count he said he couldn’t leave, and instead had to start over from zero. He often had an urge to circle a city block three times before entering a building.

Tesla worked every day from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

He also became obsessed with germs, he polished every dining implement he used to perfection, demanded three folded cloth napkins beside his plate at every meal using 18 napkins. He also stayed in a hotel room with a number divisible by three (he lived the last ten years of his life in suite 3327 on the 33rd floor of the New Yorker Hotel)."

My wife is the OCD queen. Everything has to be in it's assigned spot, laundry has to be folded perfectly, and put away just right. If I hang a shirt or jacket over the back of a chair in the kitchen, 5 minutes later when I come back for it, it's already gone. Occasionally, just for laughs, I purposely put something in an unauthorized location just to set her off.........
Don't judge me because there's a buckeye in my pocket
I keep clicking on 24HCF.

Help me, Doc!

“He’s real particular…”

😂😂😂😂
My college roommate had it and still does. I remember when I first noticed it, he spent two minutes spreading tuna fish on a piece of bread. It had to be on it just perfectly or else. I was like dude, wtf?

Anyway he went on to be a big wig working for the Army Corps of Engineers on the Mississippi.
Me...
Clean and well kept firearms
Vehicle stuff
Gun project stuff

Sure as fuuuk nothing OCD related to cutting grass concerning me.
🤣🤣🤣
OCD? Is that like Ocasio-Cortez Depression?

I sometimes have two....one in each front pocket.

Bad year for buckeyes around here.

This.

There are also aspects to it that are beyond the stereotypical symptoms. It can be very difficult to deal with for people and can even effect children.
All the screws in the face plates of the switches and outlet covers in my house are oriented vertical.
Nail clippers, aluminum cross, and buckeye ALWAYS in my left front pocket.
When I tuna fished same lures, same rods, same rod holders.

Some things I couldn't care any less about , but some have to be "right".
I have it.
Clutter and unorganization makes me crazy.
Outrageous Californian displaced or dumbchit
Hunted with a guy once who was shooting a single shot .22 rifle. (squirrel hunting)
Dude had one of the little 50 round boxes of .22's. He would shoot, pull the box out of his jacket pocket, open it, get one round, close the box, put it back in his pocket, load the rifle THEN shoot.
EACH shot fired called for the same procedure each time.
I finally took his shells from him, poured the box into his pocket and threw the box down.
When we got back to the truck, I saw that he had picked up the box and was methodically restacking his remaining ammo back into it! 😖

So, if every time you see a fat girl and have crazy thoughts. Is that OCD
I have to have symmetry too.
The way things are hung on walls or the way furniture is arranged. 😬

My dad taught me about the vertical screws. If I'm out and about and see one not right, I try to turn it.
Persian dog: I know several people with O.C.D. - and over the decades I have concluded that "they" get a LOT of stuff done!

i don't know of a "right" way, but I put them on according to what I want the washer to accomplish and what material it is against. Many other times it doesn't matter.

I seldom put them on after the nut. laugh

I have always gravitated towards HMIs (Highly Motivated Individuals).

Maybe it is a variant of OCD.

Don't really know... and frankly don't really care.

That’s not OCD.

OCD is the person that has to brush their teeth twenty times per side and change their tooth brush every twenty days and wipe their ass twenty times. And if they don’t, they fall apart and need meds to bring them back to earth.

Being organized and straightening a picture frame just means you’re organized and don’t like crooked picture frames.

I'll bet it's closer to 9/10.

Oh I flew with several who were out there.............really out there....
There’s a difference between Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder

My mother has a daughter who is a textbook example of the latter. Folks always told me she was a “control freak”. Never took it to heart until I saw it full blown
which one has OCD :

I was maybe 5 years old, and I intentionally walked under a ladder every opportunity I had to do so.
As I got into my late teens, I resisted that temptation, so as not to look stupid.

I actually have CDO, It's like OCD but the letters are arranged in alphabetical order, like they're supposed to be.
I had TSB when I was a teenager, but never had OCD thank God Amen!

is excessive religiosity is caused by OCD ? why not? how do you explain it?

disclaimer ( you know )
I wish I had time to write about this, but I have to straighten out my sock drawer for the fifth time today.

I only beat off with my left hand...do I need therapy?
i had a friend that would use a roll of paper towles in 1 0r 2 days always cleaning the counter tops kitchen bathroom could not use 1 sheet had to be 2 or or more and numerous times a day . Go into the bathroom, toilet paper had to loose 4-6 sheets before using any, there was other stuff as well , she has asbergers [spelling] as well and being an A personality and going thru withdrawel was a real challenge.

norm
Known quite a few. (I'm the anti-OCD.) I had a roommate a long time ago that was the "iron my socks" kinda guy. He would really freak out about dishes in the sink.

I threw all of them away except one fork, knife and plate for each of us.

That's when I learned that OCD people don't really care about organization...they just want something to worry about.
My wife, she packs things tighter than dicks hatband, I throw a double handful of sweet and low packets on the counter and she stacks them in the sugar bowl
I knew a guy who wouldn’t eat the end of the French fry by which HE was holding to put in his face. Little pieces of every French fry left over.

I apologize in advance if I offended anyone making this post. Maybe I’m the only one who eats the whole fry?
I've got a whole house full of them.
is buying guns a form of OCD , then i am a sick man.
I have a brother who has gotten more and more so over the years. Came from my mom’s side of the family. He won’t touch a door knob to save his soul. Only eats food with utensils no matter what and when he signs the credit card receipt he wraps his napkin around the pen. Funniest thing happened awhile ago when he was staying at our house for a weekend. We were watching TV and Chad was eating a huge bag of popcorn when my wife reached in and grabbed a handful. It happened so fast that I couldn’t stop her in time. The look on my brothers face was priceless. Needless to say he was done with the popcorn. I keep telling him to go see somebody before it gets to the point that he can’t function.

this is a liberal form of OCD

My wife chastised me for suggesting the clean bed sheets be installed Willy nilly. Apparently one cannot sleep on bed sheets containing stripes if the stripes run horizontal rather than vertical to said bed.

Who new?

I can drive her batty by eating a Kit Kat candy bar from the side.
I have it.
I despise clutter.
Messed up beds.
Dirty dishes.
Anything on the floor.
Cluttered countertops.
Dirty laundry.
Leaves on the driveway.
Dishes in the sink.
A messed up truck while driving...fast food wrappers etc.
Kids toys laying around...
🥵🥵🥵
I had it a couple times. The first was a real bad case. Painful swelling and a rash, but the doctor gave me some cream and it went away. The next time was just an uncontrollable desire to arrange the Scrabble tiles alphabetically, so I took up Monopoly.
