Funny how SF defense is so good, but is one of the worst D in giving up 3rd down conversions. That won’t fly against either AFC team. Last season KC hung 40+ on SF in Santa Clara. Lamar and Ravens already beat the hell out of them a few weeks back.

The only reason the Niners are able to afford the embarrassing amount of superstars on that team is because they can pay the QB a measly pittance.
Purdy is a solid QB (in only his second year) and I don't understand the vitriol toward him. Furthermore, the Niners would most likely have played in the big game last year had Purdy not gotten hurt in the NFC championship game.

Agree, but it just seems like the Lions are getting it done. Hopefully Aaron Glenn will come up with a plan to stop Purdy & McCaffrey. He’s done well as a Defensive Coach so far, with the little talent he’s had to work with. He was one of the best DB to play in the NFL and plenty smart. Hope he gets to be a head coach someday.

They're likely to lose their OC to the Redskins as their new HC. Now they're picking in the end of rounds instead of at the start and they have to play a 1st or 2nd place schedule. Do that 5 years in a row - then you're actually built for something. If they go back to a 6-11 record then 9-8 etc, they're not exactly "there" yet.

I was pulling for the Lions (something rarely done for fans of a team in the same division). And by the end, I was happy they lost - because they deserved to lose.

In my opinion it was more about execution or lack thereof on the Lions part and less about play calling by Dan Gamble. Reynolds dropped 4th and 2 pass was a very catchable ball. He dropped another late in the 3rd. Add in the fumble by Gibbs. Those plays out weighed the gambles on play calling.
