Homicide Trial finishing in Wisconsin. Seems like a viable self defense argument.

Shocking new footage of deadly Apple River stabbing https://mol.im/a/13293763#v-5514043011501439274

I listened to Matt Walsh talk about this today. WOW!

I think at the end of the day it is self defense.
Guy was wading in a popular river looking for a lost phone and was randomly accused of being a “pervert” and aggressively approached by a gaggle of drunk teens looking to fight? Is that the gist?
Pay wall- - - - -not gonna happen. Anybody got a better link?

Yes. Seems he could have walked away at any time though.

But once he got surrounded and punched in the face the murder weapon (pocket knife) came out.

Listening to some folks and court videos, you would be led to believe the guy had a "Now, that a knife" knife and took it on his float trip to kill drunk teenagers.

I pack a pocket knife bigger than that to church.
Why should he have to walk away? Sounds righteous.
Always like that reference, "Teens". Looked to me like those "Teens" should have left that dude alone.
The whole thing starts with the guy saying "your trespassing" a teen says "so what if we are?" Dude then grabs the teens raft and stops them, resulting in pushing and finally stabbings. He may have dropped something after stopping them but he started the whole mess physically.

He should have let them drift on by.

Oh, I don’t know……..maybe because trying to deal with a mob of drunk teenagers is a pain in the ass?

Maybe drunk teenagers are stupid?

Not saying the guy had no right to defend himself, just saying there was a moment there he could have walked away.
In my opinion, he knows he has some culpability because he started building his case early. De-escalating the situation would have been wise.
I think he went way above and beyond. Looks like he approached the youngsters first, and then it escalated.
Just because he approached, told them they were trespassing, doesn't mean much.

Who assaulted who first? If the punk asked "teenager" struck first it's defense. In the video he was being assaulted repeatedly by multiple people. It's plausible, given what's been going on lately that he was in fear of his life. What about beyond shadow of doubt?

It's definitely a case of FAAFO!
Good people are sick of having to retreat in these situations. The reason azzholes act like this is they have been allowed to get away with bad behavior.
Ecclesiastes 3
Reasonable doubt.
The guy should walk.

A good point the defense lawyer made about the teens knowing they were being filmed by their friends, then everything becomes about creating some cool footage to share.
Didn’t this happen yrs ago?
No doubt he was a dirty cop…
This will obviously depend upon the language of WI's self-defense laws. Some states have language in their law that essentially says, if you start a physical confrontation, you can't claim self-defense. Even when the law doesn't expressly state that, there are likely precedents that establish it.
This is a somewhat local case, so I have to assume most of you don't know details. I hope the defendant get life behind bars.

That river is not owned by any one individual. He may own land on both sides of the river, but he cannot own the land under the river or the river.

There was NO trespassing unless they were on his land, if he claimed they were trespassing by being in the river, then he started the fight.

Miu (the defendant) punched one gal and stabbed another gal, both were in their 20's. Neither gal was even in the group that Miu was arguing with. After being arrested he made up a whopper of a tale regarding what happened, and then was surprised that it was videoed by someone on the scene. Miu started everything that happened and is desperately trying to justify it after the fact.

Can you provide a link to that video? Not being an ass, but that is not the videos I've seen and if there is more out there, it needs to be plastered everywhere.

No, just local enough to have it on the news every day. Most of the players in this deal, including the defendant, are from the area.

Wow, you're seriously basing "facts" on media reports?

Yeah, don't do that, they are not to be trusted.
Its on video, been watching the trial for a few days. No reason to gut and stab 5 kids , after first punching a woman in the face who weighed 115 pnds .

No. The whole thing is on video.

The whole thing? Or just the parts they showed you?

Still pics are not video. The prosecutors are doing their jobs to create a narrative, but the defense is also doing a good job destroying the witnesses.

25-year-old girl, but apparently very scary even while walking away, stabbed:

Guilty - First Degree Reckless Homicide
Yup - guilty on all counts..
Should have stayed in his home country to practice his knife fighting skills.

A couple more tats will hide those scars in no time

Those charges were added mid-trial by the prosecutor when he felt murder one was not going to stick.
Matt Walsh had a good piece of the case, and the prosecutors are lucky they got the charges they got to stick from what I have read and see in his video

The Matt Walsh version skips the part where the knife psycho stops the groups rafts before the fighting starts.
