Trump won...if people are as sick of politicians as they claim to be. Hillary did a great job of looking like more of the same. But I am so biased that it is really hard for me to look at it like someone clueless enough to be "undecided" at this point would.

Very true. But I was trying to look at it from the lens of a person who just watched the first political news segment this political season. Which, was about probably 10 million people. The middle 10% that determine the election.

So true, and Trump did his best tonight to make sure people don't vote at all. Again.
Well I recorded it so I could FF whenever hilderbeest was yapping. I thought Trump did okay including cutting off Holt whenever he tried to butt in. I'll have to wait for Rush's review tomorrow as he probably watched the entire debate.
Politician vs non-politician. Just that simple. That's what this election will come down to, NOT who "win" debates. The media surely does everything they can to influence the election. How about we have non-media types lead the debates?

She sounded just like all the other do nothing politicians! Rehearsal didnt work! Trump showed he was better, when he didn't attack her family! He had the opportunity and showed more class than she! Her economy answer was a major failure! I counted 11 lies from the robot in red!
So how many folks or so called undecideds changed their minds tonight? maybe 1/2 of one percent. I turned it off after 15 minutes as it was blatantly obvious this was to be a waste of time, nothing new was going to be said or happen.
As someone said, No one wins the Presidency on a debate. But you can loose one on a debate. Ultimately I'd call it a draw. Clinton used Holt like democraps have used blacks for years. Rush was talking about all the things the Klinton people were asking Holt to do. Far as I can tell he expects a check from the Klinton foundation next week. He was bought and paid for. She obviously new every question she was going to get and was well practiced on the answers.
I listen to it on the radio... I had better and fast answers than trump...sad to say ....that witch kept tossing the lure. Trumpster fish kept bite in ...imo
Who won? Whoever gets my credit card info for a few jugs of powder tomorrow morning. I bought 2 lbs of RL19 today, after the debate I'm buying the schitt out of everything.
my thoughts on trump are well documented. I thought hillary was ubber prepared and kinda sounded rehearsed and flat. I thought trump failed on a couple chances to score on hillary. the point should have been made what a pre hillary SofS tenure looked like vs a post one. I also thought the email thing should have been hammered especially when cyber security was brought up. along with that I would have suggested that if indeed someone does have those 33k emails couldn't they inturn be used to blackmail a hillary president?? that would have been a touchdown.
so trump may be lost technically but IMO what substance of the debate will a person that is going to vote for hillary remember? I say not a darn thing I also say that trump appeared willing to throw a punch at anything. I think your average voter kinda likes that in a person.
The question I thought trump handled the worst was when he said he settled that case with no admission of guilt about racial issues. people plead no contest to things all the time that doesn't mean they weren;t guilty.
at the end of the day I don't think this did any damage to trump
Trumps entire claim to fame is the ability to close a deal.
WTF was this?
You're up against the Clintons, a 30 year target rich history of dirty deals and downright treason and you whiff on every soft pitch to instead brag about yourself..
From the start he knew he'd be against Clinton Inc. This machine is more entrenched than the Kennedys. Did he think he was so good that he could come in and wing it?
He doesn't have to just win the polls he needs to win despite the get-on-the-bus-for-a-sandwich voters, the illegals, the felons and the dead.
Once again I wonder if he's really in it to win it.
And do you prefer the cold turd sandwich, or will you go for the hot one- with gravy? (But I didn't miss your point about damage.....I'm sure few minds were swayed tonight, but a whole bunch will be claiming a win somehow.)
I think Clinton looked very rehearsed. She had 3 or so prepared directions to go with each question. I am also sure the debate was rigged, and and would be very surprised if she did not have the questions in advance. That's what it looked like to me. Very contrived. Trump was reactive, more than proactive. It was a hostile, unfamiliar place to be, for him. Attack the woman, and get hammered for attacking a woman. Don't attack the woman, and get hammered for not pushing an advantage. Much like Obama's race, Clinton's gender is a problem in the public perception of an attack. Sounds to me like he was throttled back to minimize a gender based critique. In my opinion, that was a mistake. He needs to ground and pound. That said, if you plan a Hillary vote, and think you saw the real Hillary, you are sorely mistaken. She is evil, bad for the US, bad for the second amendment, bad for the economy, you name it. Her plan is to tax us into prosperity. Riiiight....hope you Clinton voters are Communist sympathizers. If so, you would be very happy if she wins.
I watched for maybe 20 minutes, had to turn it off, Trump was an embarrassment. Unless Hilribeast gets arrested between now and the election she's the next president.
Well, I watched the whole thing and I don't think Hillary did the Donald any harm, and He managed to get in a few things without seeming too mean to Her, which I think the Dems were counting on. One was about NAFTA being a big mistake, and Her Husband being the one doing it. Another was when He asked Her why She has waited all these years to come up with the good ideas that She claims to have. She had the power and position to do things, and did not do them. He also put out there that He did not think She had the stamina to be President. He also pointed how the Democrat Politicians have failed the black community. Small points to be sure, but things that could take root in peoples minds. miles

I don't think either one of them were something to write home about. You knew going in that Hillary was going to put her spin on everything and not be thrown any hardballs. You also knew, or should have known, that Trump is a master of talking a lot and saying nothing. I think he should have hammered her on the email thing, and I think that he showed he wasn't prepared to give a direct answer on a number of things. In the end, I doubt many minds were changed one way or the other. I doubt there are as many undecided voters as is being said, and those who are may be just keeping mum for the time being.
Answer to the OP's question of "who won the debate?" - Clinton won on points. Well prepared, rehearsed, unconstrained by the truth and greatly helped by her guy refereeing the match.
IMHO, however, the outcome of the November election will not be determined by the 'undecided' voters. The 'undecided' are the historically and politically ignorant; the uninvolved in the affairs of our Nation. Rush's 'low information voters' who'll buy the professional politician's stories hook, line and sinker.
It will go Trump's way if all of us who know that Clinton can never become POTUS turn out and vote. It's that simple
If we cast a vote in November for the Second Amendment - the single most important foundational right for us to remain free citizens, a vote against Clinton and the socialists - Trump wins and we buy time to get it right in the next election. If Clinton wins, I'm afraid the coming Apoclypse for our Nation will be at hand. May God grant each of us the courage to do what's right. YMMV

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ THIS
ALL he had to do was keep his cool, and he DID that. Whether or not you like it, you are looking at the NEXT President of the States.
Love the impartial Lester Holt. While admonishing Trump supporters for cheering, he decided to let the Clinton supporters cheer on. It was obvious who he wants. If nothing else anyone with any intelligence can discern how biased the media has become, they with other politicans do not want the status quo apple cart upset. While I do not care for all the Donald says. He is definitley about change, and if we ever needed a course correction it is now.
Trump needs to do better but he did not lose the debate. That ain't the same thing as winning the debate.
That.
He missed at least two opportunities to sock it to her. When she was yakking about national security/hacking etc., DT should have commented that her 'private server' demonstrated how lax she is regarding security.
Second was when she was yakking about DTs alleged business practices and how he treats women. He should have reminded the audience that the FLIP pays women on a lesser scale than the men on her staff..
I thought the first 10 minutes where ok. Both sort of answered the jobs question, drawing clear lines between them. Everything after that was a waste of time.
I did get a laugh from Hillary claiming her web site home page was now a fact check, that was priceless. No bias there.
I see that all the butt hurt Cruz losers are here to blast Trump as usual. She looked like the slimy bag of [bleep] that she is last night and most of the radio talk shows today have gone to Trump as the winner. YMMV..
I think the Trump v. Clinton/Holt debate was won by Trump. Donald spoke from the heart with some emotion. She looked robotic as usual, and kept referring to her talking points, her scripted responses. Her partner, Lester went after Trump a few times but Trump did fine.
The experienced politician better watch out, Trump is coming.
This is the same reply for three different threads.
I wasn't impressed by Trump's debating skills. It doesn't matter to me.I will vote for him because the alternative is unthinkable.
I would never vote for a closet homosexual who licks the smelly crotch of her female Muslim spy.
I would never vote for a scumbag who sold out the safety and security of every American citizen with the uranium deal that paid her 135 million.
I would never vote for a c-u-n-t who did not rescue our men in Benghazi because it would have upset their slogan "General motors is alive and Osama Bin Laden is dead".
I will vote for a patriot rather than a closet homosexual,scumbag,c-u-n-t.
Hilary is the better liar - still would not vote for her if she was the only one running.
Power don't come from a badge or a gun. Power comes from lying. Lying big and gettin' the whole damn world to play along with you. Once you got everybody agreeing with what they know in their hearts ain't true, you've got 'em by the balls.

I agree but how many uninformed and undecided voters will see it our way? No answer to my question until November.
Trumps all over the news today, saying he's gonna really take it to Hillary next debate...about Bill's infidelity. I'm sure that gives his biggest fans a woody, but it doesn't sound like such a good idea to me. Maybe he should talk about how he's DIFFERENT than them.

Wall. Talk about the wall. Trump guys love walls.
I forget, are we expecting a deportation force this week or is it off?
I thought Trump did OK but left a lot of opportunities to hit Hillary on the table. The good thing about Trump compared to previous Republican presidential candidates is that he fights back! He's not too well organized, but at least he doesn't try to please the media and avoid offending anyone.
Hopefully he will hit Hillary on her dishonesty and email issues more next time. And he needs to remind everyone that taxing the rich will never yield enough money to fund all her giveaways. Most of the money to fund those programs would have to come from the middle class, just as it does in Obamacare.
Trump needs to make a list of all the chit that traitor clinton has done over the years and when a "moderator", brings up his tax returns, birther, or another non-issue-to-most-all-Americans thing, tell them I'll talk about that after we talk about these things, and then filibuster naming them all off and some pertinent facts about her treachery. That's what he should do, and the crowd and TV audience would love it, or shrink in shame! That would keep those marxist moderators on focus. Trump's focus!
Trump was smart to keep his cool. I think that was the plan, and what clinton did not want to see. This debate was for the people in the middle. Trump made no mistakes, and polls suggest he won. He did not have to shame clinton or change the opinion of democrats, he just keep the momentum going.
MY confidence in his perceptions and predictions, as well as my own eyes and ears in the few minutes I wasted on it compelled my to buy a couple of pounds of powder and a thousand CCI 450s today. I don't think I can afford to be ready for the next four years the way I'd like to be, but I'm trying to be a little less unready.
Trump didn't have any of his policy information he stated correct... on NAFTA
It was a Reagan/Bush policy, Reagan first bringing it up in his 79' campaign... in fact it was the Canadian government that fought its implementation more than anyone. It was President Bush that signed the pact sending it to be ratified after the election.
After nearly a year it was and lengthy consideration and emotional discussion, the House of Representatives passed the North American Free Trade Agreement Implementation Act on November 17, 1993, 234-200. The agreement's supporters included 132 Republicans and 102 Democrats. The bill passed the Senate on November 20, 1993, 61-38. Senate supporters were 34 Republicans and 27 Democrats. Clinton signed it into law on December 8, 1993; the agreement went into effect on January 1, 1994. Clinton, made no recommendations for any changes and left the pact as was signed by Bush.
As to the cause of ISIS beginnings, any half-wit realizes that ISIS saw its beginnings in a U.S. military prison camp put in place by the U.S. military during the Bush administration, as to the troop withdrawals Bush made that firm with the agreement he signed with the new Iraqi government the Bush administration put into place. Saying that the Obama administration should have been able to renegotiate, wasn't possible without granting demands that weren't possible.
OH, Benghazi and the E-mail's, whether one wants to admit, everyone realizes they are political initiated hack-jobs. Hell there were more U.S. Embassy or Consulate attacks and deaths under Reagan than any other President, and incidents and numbers over the last 40 years make Benghazi a tragedy, but nothing unusual as it is a dangerous profession today.
It is what it is. I think Trump missed some gaping hole opportunities but he'll review that stuff and hopefully won't miss them again. It's kind of a moot point because Trump is the nominee and she wasn't my first choice, but I would have loved to see what Carly Fiorina would have done with Hillary in that debate. I think she would have demolished her. All in all, I didn't really think either person was the glaring winner last night.

Did he prepare for the debate? Sure didn't look like it. His not paying taxes makes him smart? How about it makes him look like a cheat? No tax returns? Automatic disqualification.
His performance was dreadful. It's very clear that he can beat a bunch of Republicans when there are 15 people on the stage. But BS doesn't hold up for 90 minutes against a qualified opponent. He's a worthless POS. Anybody who watched that debate and thinks the Dumpster did well is beyond help. Wake up, guys.

The error you make is that you think their flaws are equivalent. Not so. The Dumpster is a despicable sociopath, a pathological liar, a racist, and a very small man. All you small handed guys like him because he's just like you. Sad.
I know some people don't like to talk about 'our' dear candidate with anything less than endearing support. However, we all know he is faulty to a fault. WE also know that Hillary is no better than the corpse of Nixon (or the live version for that matter) with a Halloween Hillary mask attached. So the debates are not so much about winning as they are about not losing. People don't have the same expectation for bad candidates as they do when at least one of them is flirting with greatness in some ways. Clearly that is not our problem in 2016.
Somebody once said, "I have a dream that one day [we] might live in a country where [we] don't judge people by the color of their skin (or presumably their gender either), but by the content of their character."
That's good enough for me. Hillary's single most positive attribute is her gender. It was a similar 'attribute' (having nothing to do with character) which resulted in the previous disaster. We don't need to repeat the mistake.
His lack of policy knowledge showed badly. He was poorly prepared and displayed his ignorance, his penchant for bullying and his ill-temper. (He interrupted Clinton 57 times). There was a lot of low-hanging fruit on that tree and he left it all there. Moreover, given that Putin has a 6% approval rating in America it was stupid beyond words to suggest Putin has ever gotten anything right. His ignorance of US first strike policy and of NATO was just down right embarrassing.
This is what happens when you run a reality TV show host for president.
3. The Hillary Problem. Can we speak honestly, just among ourselves? And before we do, let me state, I actually like Hillary â a lot â and I think she has been given a bad rap she doesnât deserve. But her vote for the Iraq War made me promise her that I would never vote for her again. To date, I havenât broken that promise. For the sake of preventing a proto-fascist from becoming our commander-in-chief, Iâm breaking that promise. I sadly believe Clinton will find a way to get us in some kind of military action. Sheâs a hawk, to the right of Obama. But Trumpâs psycho finger will be on The Button, and that is that. Done and done.
Letâs face it: Our biggest problem here isnât Trump â itâs Hillary. She is hugely unpopular â nearly 70% of all voters think she is untrustworthy and dishonest. She represents the old way of politics, not really believing in anything other than what can get you elected. Thatâs why she fights against gays getting married one moment, and the next sheâs officiating a gay marriage. Young women are among her biggest detractors, which has to hurt considering itâs the sacrifices and the battles that Hillary and other women of her generation endured so that this younger generation would never have to be told by the Barbara Bushes of the world that they should just shut up and go bake some cookies. But the kids donât like her, and not a day goes by that a millennial doesnât tell me they arenât voting for her. No Democrat, and certainly no independent, is waking up on November 8th excited to run out and vote for Hillary the way they did the day Obama became president or when Bernie was on the primary ballot. The enthusiasm just isnât there. And because this election is going to come down to just one thing â who drags the most people out of the house and gets them to the polls â Trump right now is in the catbird seat.

Jordan
You still have a no grip on reality - but then again you are from CA..
Hillary has been at this for 46 years - new research says. Trumps has been at it for 15 months. So he did remarkably well for a newbie and a hostile moderator. That said, look for him to fire both barrels at debate #2. Don't listen to the pundits on tv or liberals here who might possess a gun case. This election is completely different. Hell, reports are he is tied in MN. with HRC at 43%!
I taught 3 1.5 hour blocks of AP World History to 15-16 year old sophomores today. I didn't prompt them with any questions, just listened as they came into the room. Without exception there was one overwhelming sentiment:

Is Arkansas really that backwater? Are your students really that stupid? Obviously you are, but your students? Is there really no hope?

There are a few of us here who understand that hard work, preparation and experience are good things to have in a POTUS. Bluster and bullsh*t may sell on reality TV, but we don't want to elect a POSOTUS.

[/quote] There are a few of here who do not understand that in spite of not being charged, Hillary broke the law, deliberately destroying evidence and having classified info on an unsecured machine and server. If you think that "mistake" is a desirable trait in a President, then you do not think such information is important. Hillary was also fired from the Watergate team for being a liar and unethical. She studied under Alinsky and passed out Communist pamphlets, while in college. Having known a couple of Secret Service guys assigned to her, she is holy hell to deal with. A miserable excuse for a human being. It also looks as if she sold influence while SOS. I cannot think of a worse candidate.
I've come to the conclusion it really doesn't matter who won the debate.
At the end of the day, the people who could swing the election for Trump will hold their noses and throw the lever for Hillary.
The MSM has done their work well. As disliked as Mrs Clinton is, she will be seen as the lesser of two evils and win fairly handily.
Damn shame, but that's the world we live in. The MSM got out of the business of reporting news 50 years ago and are now in the business of forming opinion.
To say it hasn't been effective is to deny the facts. Theyre experts at demonizing anyone who disagrees with their liberal philosophy.

The irony is that they gleefully promoted Trump, almost as if by design, knowing that that would help propel the Democrat of greatest political strength into the pinnacle opposing position, and knowing that they could then prey on the many faux pas which the Donald (or any other non-politico) is known for.

The liberal practice of name calling when confronted with a viewpoint different from their own is alive and well I see. I was simply stating what students in my classes said. There is a growing sentiment across the nation of anyone but Hillary. Are you going to ask if the whole nation is stupid if she loses? That is how many liberals, including Hillary approach differing viewpoints, i.e. "they all must be stupid," or "they're just racist deplorables," or "they're clinging to their guns and religion." It is also classic liberalism to paint broad generalizations across conservatives.
Congratulations, you are a lib. Do you want a cookie or a gold star?
A good friend of mine supports Trump because he listens to the far right media and hates Hillary because he thinks she's a liar. It's difficult to convince he to leave the Bubble. If I tell him that Politifact says that 70% of what Trump says is mostly false(17%), false(35%) or pants on fire(18%), he says that Politifact is biased. In fact, only 43 of 273 statements he made were true or mostly true. That's less than 16%, guys. Meanwhile, Hillary's ratings are the reverse. About 51% of the things she's said are true or mostly true, while 27% are mostly false(14.5%), false(10%) or pants on fire(2%).
He just won't listen to anything except Fox, Beck, etc. He's a really good guy, but just sadly misinformed. Maybe lots of guys here on the 'fire are the same, good at heart, just brainwashed by the dickheads in the far right media. That leaves unanswered the question of why he can't call BS when he hears or sees it. No idea, but it does require a lack of insight, judgement, etc.
What I mean by that is, he did a terrible job of expressing his views on, well, everything. He bordered on incoherent at times. You'd have to have drunk a whole lot of Trump-flavored coolaid to think that he won that. It was brutally apparent that his knowledge base is shallow and he relies on BS and bluster..... which doesn't work in that format. He stunk.
That being said, it's not over. His whole thing is that he isn't a [bleep] politician. It's one of the things I can find to like about the guy. He needs to play to his strength. Say something like "look folks, no way in hell I'm gonna stand up here and out-politician a master politician like Clinton. And it's a simple fact that I don't have the depth of knowledge or experience that career politicians do on this [bleep]. So if you want more of that, she's your gal. I'm going to put together a great team of knowledgable people and hit these issues from a whole other perspective. Want to see that? Then vote for me. But don't expect me to be what I'm not."

I dont see anyone on 24hr promoting Hillary, just not supporting a poor candidate in Trump, who's presence in effect hands the Election to the Democrats.
There are a few of us here who understand that hard work, preparation and experience are good things to have in a POTUS. Bluster and bullsh*t may sell on reality TV, but we don't want to elect a POSOTUS.
And Hillary Clinton is full of bluster and bullshit... if you are blind to the [bleep] she has said and done then you are a lost cause...
And who do you listen too and who what channels do you watch?? I promise I will act surprised when you tell us...
I am not greatly concerned with what either of them are saying while campaigning. I expect to be lied at in that phase of things. What does trouble me however is the display of integrity- or lack of it- that people display in the course of official business, especially in elected or representative positions of power. You can only guess what Trump might do. We know what Hillary has done. If that's difficult to sort out, my sympathies to you.
There are a few of here who do not understand that in spite of not being charged, Hillary broke the law, deliberately destroying evidence and having classified info on an unsecured machine and server.
And there are a LOT of us EVERYWHERE that are pissed that we have no decent candidate to vote for. Trying to say otherwise just makes one look stupid. Obviously, Trump is the best choice, but he's not a good one.

I think you have plenty of information about Trump to predict what he'd do as president. Four bankruptcies, 3500 lawsuits by people he cheated in business, 3 marriages, his pervasive lying, his misuse of his foundation, etc. What's to like about this despicable POS?

The fact that there aren't any known dead bodies in his wake??

His views on 2A and immigration, for me. Admittedly, that's about it, but it's enough for me to pull the lever for him this time.
He's weak on the 2nd big time; he's a recent convert and it reeks of political opportunism. No shortage of quotes of him wanting the AWB, on and on.
His views on immigration I can at least believe that HE believes, unlike his 2nd "fervor". However they are utterly impractical and deeply unconstitutional.
He's a POS. After his Twiiter tirade this morning- and stop and think about that for a moment, a freaking Twitter tirade- he's just moving backwards anyway.
You guys would EAT HIM ALIVE if he was a member of the Fire and had posted the things he's said on here over the years.
All that said, I cannot vote for Clinton, I may have to pull the lever for the shallow bigoted arrogant rich-kid SOB.
He has no core beliefs. He will and has taken exactly opposite positions on a given issue, sometimes in the same sentence. Anybody who's up tweeting about a beauty contestant at 0300 hours simply cannot be taken seriously. As if you needed another reason. Come on, guys, think.
Hillary may not be your ideal candidate, but she doesn't want your guns any more than Obama. It simply isn't going to happen. She's better on every single issue, including taxes. I assume most of you are in the middle class. His plan will give tax breaks to the wealthy that the rest of us will finance. Trump's not your guy, he's his guy. Always has been, always will be.
