Met the first one in high school. I dropped a friend off, pulled out on the highway, saw this blonde girl sitting on the back of a truck. I stopped to ask her directions, as if I didn’t know where I was. She had just moved to our little town. I ask her out, she was 15, I was 17. We married a year later, first girl born two years to the day after we were married. We had two girls, stayed married 11 years. Knowing everything now, I would have changed to make that work. I still miss her. She found a good man, married to him 34 years. I thought being single would be glorious, it wasn’t. I still see her quite often at kids and grandkids birthdays. We always go to her house for Thanksgiving. My son works for her hubbys company.

Met the second at a country dance bar after being single for three years, been married 32 years Aug 1. We have one son. I get along great with her. We still go dancing every other Saturday.

Where did you meet yours??
Folding lingerie panties in the Department store we both worked at. I was a floor walker educating employees on spotting boosters in the fittingrooms. She was organizing the thong display.

we got married the year after she graduated, and i had a year under my belt at ft. hood.

we've been married 47 years. she has the ph.d and i have the guns.

College. We only lived about 15 miles apart, and one of my cousins was one of her good friends, but we'd never met until our second year at the local community college. Been married 48 years come October.
Our wedding cost about $650 all inclusive... ! Went camping for the honeymoon.

I met my wife at a country bar. A bar buddy knew her and I was introduced to her when she came over. Took 3 months to as her out. Dated 9 years until her son graduated high school. Been married 14 years now.

It costs a lot to keep her drunk enough to put up with me.
I'm jealous of you happily married types.
I met my wife at Goldwyn Studios in Hollywood, where she was the executive secretary to the Exec. Producer of a teevee show for which I was writing. We began dating, fell in love and got married. That was 41¾ years ago. I've never once regretted being married to the most wonderful, kindest, considerate woman in the world. (With all due respect to those here who feel the same about their wives. wink )

Back of the local pub...the publicans sister walked past and I annoyed her, she responded and hasn't been able to shake me for the past thirty-three years.

Irony being that neither of us are drinkers and all the drunks that assured her it would not last are all either dead or divorced.

I got the better deal.
Haymow.... Well ..1st time I seen her @ 9yo ..lol.. School....parents said no date'n till 16 ....6 years of dating and finishing schoolin... 36yrs of wedded bliss????? Lol !!!
First grade
Pike Lake
Teaching school. She was a English teacher and me Physical Education and biology. 34 years ago. I don't tell her how to exercise and she doesn't correct my grammar.
Lol....I met my wife on the phone to AAA.

I had a '66 Ford F-100 p/u, that suddenly refused to run. It would start fine, then die. I checked all the obvious stuff, then called off work for the day. Called AAA for a tow to a local shop, then went back to checking for problems.
FOUND IT! (Someone played a prank on me!)
Truck had an inline fuel filter I had installed less than a week earlier, and I could see fuel, but just to make sure I pulled the supply line and removed the filter (perhaps it had gotten blocked). When I released the supply line, the end dropped, and a mechanical pencil erasure poked out of the fuel line! It was just small enough to free float in the line and slide up tight to the fuel filter when the fuel moves. Choked off the fuel like a valve.
I called AAA to cancel the tow truck, laughing quietly at the joke. I was put through to the dispatcher, who couldn't understand why I was laughing. "Someone wasted your time, cost you work and pay, and that's funny? Don't you have better things to do than deal with pranks?"
I responded "sure, I could take a pretty girl out to dinner. When should I pick you up?" (She turned me down flat!) What i didn't know, was she was a trainee with a mentor at her side. She though it was nonprofessional and could get her fired. Her trainer had other ideas. "Girl, what the hell is wrong with you? The man just asked you out, and you said NO?"
She told me later, that my info was still on screen, and she copied it down, and sent me a car which still hangs on the wall to the effect of:
"Sir, if you were just being friendly, know that you made my day, but if you were serious.....I accept. "
First date was a 6hr phone call.

She worked for me as an admin assistant.
Born again when I was 23 in 1981, I asked God to supply me with His choice for a wife. Met her months later at an evangelical meeting. Never saw her before but turns out we grew up within 4 miles of each other. We've been married since 1983. Awesome woman. "He who finds a wife finds a good thing & obtains favor from the Lord."

Woman I was going out with at one time...we both realized this was going no place, no sparky stuff, but nice enough person that she introduced me to my future wife...thinking it would be a good match. Turns out she loved to hunt and fish......this was taken when we were still dating.....

I met my wife while stationed at Marine Barracks Rota, Spain 1972-1976.

I First met her in this Spanish tienda called "The Sangria Shack" (for the Americans) and also "Bar La Parra" (for the Spanish, and because it had an outer patio covered with vines "parra" in the summer.)

I was teaching a class at South Alabama, she was a student
Pulled into McDonald's in 1968 with a friend. We were hot and sweaty...and he screams into my ear "pull in next that car...I know those girls". Long story short he married one and I married one of the other two....I got the best deal. His marriage was
done in less than 2 months when she started cheating with her ex boyfriend. We are still going strong these last 50 yrs...gave her a big 50 yr anniversary balloon on the day we met...only been married 47 yrs. Best friends and lovers ever since 6/5/68.
She can't understand how I know the exact day we met. Hell, I know the exact time! 5:20 pm EDT.
I met Mrs Mag when she was dating my best friend, things din't work out for them so I got her drunk and kept her that way for 32 years now.
Skyway bar in Idaho Falls. She was on a first date with an acquaintance and my date and I were just friends so I bought her a drink and she winked at me.

Wednesday was our 37th anniversary.

This reminds me of the time back in about 2002 or so when a buddy's sister was liquored up and we got a picture of her knockers as she flashed a few of us. Her face wasn't in the picture....so we got an idea: When my buddy came back from the bars bombed out of his mind we showed him the picture and he yells out: "those are some nice TITS!".

We broke the truth to him the next day that those nice tits belonged to his sister. God that was funny. I still bring it up whenever I see him.

Met my bride at my first real full-time job after college. She was the plant manager's secretary in the plant office and I was in the plant in the engineering/lab building. She delivered and picked up reports and mail several times a day. I thought she was a couple years older than she was . . . she just seemed more mature than your typical 20 year old, even back tn the old days. Got her phone number after about a month on the job. Tried to call her numerous times but her roommates always answered the phone and she was never there. I thought she was just not interested and decided I would call ONE more time. She answered and agreed to a date. We went to the only local Chinese restaurant the night before Thanksgiving 1975. We were engaged on December 17 and married in July. Three weeks ago was anniversary #42.

BTW - I got the better part of the deal . . .

It’ll be 46 years tomorrow. We met on a blind date in the spring of ‘69; a fraternity brother of mine and a sorority sister of hers that were engaged fixed us up. We married three years later, a week after I was commissioned in July ‘72 and I started flight school two weeks later. We’ve lived all over including Hawaii and Japan. Somehow she’s put up with me and followed me through lots of deployments and 9 moves in 21 years. We’re really blessed with a grown daughter and son who each have fantastic spouses and two of their own, three grand daighters and a grandson.

She’s been a blessing and right by my side through 7 weeks of radiation (one week to go) and still babies me. She makes good sammiches too😁

1st wife, don't remember or care.

I can't forget the first time I saw my wife Pam.
I was parking my car at the facility where I work and I saw this nice little brown Mercedes parked there, door open, long sexy leg with a high heeled shoe dangling out the door. I couldn't see her face or anything else.
A few days later I invited her to an ice cream social.
15th anniversary this year.

Family reunion! 1982

Her Uncle was married to my Aunt. Cousins in common were my best buddies.

She still puts up with me 35 years later. Three kids and ten grandkids. The way the oldest grand daughters are starting to behave, we will probably be great G parents before long.
Fish Biology/Ichthyology/Fish Ecology class or some such in college. Relatively large classroom/lecture type room with theater like seating. I was a few rows above her when she walked in to find a seat. She had to pass in front of me, with me getting a good look at her backside. Long dark hair down to her waist, nice figure, and her ass was wrapped in tight spandex type athletic jogging pants. I was immediately attracted let's say. grin She moved gracefully, more on that in minute.. Didn't "date" for a couple of years afterwards but studied some together for classes we had together, and had multiple acquaintances so would run into each other at 'events".

Over time I found out she was a dedicated "returning" student like I was, and, while not "gifted" academically, worked hard enough to eventually get accepted to grad school (our advisor said he'd rather have one of her type than 10 "gifted" non working types). We shared interests in certain things and eventually started dating. I then found out about the "graceful" movements. The student union had recreation programs like learning fly fishing, kayaking, etc and published a pamphlet with pictures and stuff of the activities. I had taken the fly casting class (Cheap and taught by a former Orvis instructor!) so had seen the flyer. Turns out the picture of the very attractive belly dance teacher was one of my wife from years earlier! shocked She had danced since she was 17 or so, taught by one of the most respected dancers/teachers in that community at the time, and did the teaching thing to earn some money while in school.

We met in about '91-92, started seeing each other on a dating basis in 94-95, moved in together in '96, married in '99. Life has been a struggle at times, many of you know we have moved for career reasons TOO many times and had to live apart due to our jobs for large portions many years. And I am certainly not the easiest person to get along with. wink

Still together for now, glad we met at the advanced age of mid 30's after we had both sowed our wild oats, and we get along..............mostly......now.

Geno
Thanks guys for the encouragement.

One of my co-workers at the time introduced his cousin to me at a dirt track race I was driving in. She didn’t like me at all. I think she said I was a smart a$$. But my charm must have worked because we’ve been married 14 years. She had a beautiful 2 year old daughter that just graduated high school and we have a 5 year old son. It’s been great for the most part.

A guy ask me how I met mine yesterday. I’ve enjoyed reading these very much. I was at the country and western dance bar when a cute dark haired girl came up to me, she said her friend wanted to dance with me. I was thinking, ugly, fat, both, but I went with her and met wifey. I’m glad I went.
St.Mary,s church, in Anchorage , back in 2002, at a non church function, ( long story) back when I bad long hair and a lot bigger. Took her to Jackass, the movie...yeah...I know..
Took five years to get a second date, we,ve been together ever since!
10 years together this year, we had an outdoor wedding in 2016. Our honeymoon, did the traverse from Deer Mountain to Sylvas, in Ketchikan! 13 miles, 4 smallish mountains, both our packs waaaaay overloaded , and our mud buggin dog!
Pretty sure I married way out of my league, but like I tell my little brother on occasion, better lucky than good!

That is the best sister tit story ever....
I met my wife at work in a hubcap factory in 1984. She was working a summer job during her college years. I had been there 6 years and didn't know any better. We were complete opposites. She was quiet & studious, I was a party animal. In the first 3 months we dated I took her to my friends' annual "Heathen Fest" and a mafia wedding (that's a whole 'nuther story). I think she hung around just out of morbid curiosity. That was 34 years ago, we've been married for 31. I can't imagine where I would be today without her. Surely not in such a good place.

I've known her since elementary school when I switched schools and we ended up riding the same bus (I was in the 5th grade and she was in the 6th grade). We also went to a summer camp together through the school (Clearcreek near Schofield, Utah, for any of you who might be familiar with it). Fast forward a few years to high school and we both worked at Fred Meyer, which is where we struck up a close friendship and started dating. Got married when I was 18 and she was 19, and we just had a our 30 year anniversary this past March.

We have four daughters and this is our clan:

First wife i met in a bar,was married 15 years, she developed , (or always had) mental illness and an eating disorder.i finally had enough,i told her she had 30 days to get professional help or i m gone.she thought i was bluffing,i wasn t.went through a bloodbath divorce.
a year later a friend of mine told me he ran into a girl that said she used to date me in 1987,he gave me her business casrd,i called her up and asked her to lunch,a year later we were married, have one child together, been together 10 years now.i wish i would have married her first.
Met my wife in HS in 1959, got married in 1961 and still in love and married.
Once the Anti-Christ got done with me I signed up for a co-dependence class at church to make sure it never happened again and that's where I met her.

My now wife had been through a similar experience and signed up for the same class. So we got to know all each others dirt before we ever dated.

If you want to know the truth, finding your wife at a class on codependence probably shouldn't be your Plan A. But we've made it work 11 years now.
Bound to better than in a bar, drunk as shlt and just after banging some trucker in the parking lot
Met mine in a chat room back during the old days of the internet. We were both on there for about a year and a half before we started paying attention to each other. She invited me up to Boston to visit her. I had her down to Kentucky to visit me.

That went back and forth for a few times and I just said she should move to Kentucky to eliminate the flying expenses.

That was 19 years ago.

We get along pretty good. I'm ornery enough to make her run her yap at me every now and then,....and that makes me run my yap back at her. Then everybody's happy until the next time.

Neither of us would be happy if we didn't have somebody around that we could run our yaps at every now and then.
Online, I got tired of the meat market in Colorado Springs where men outnumber women nearly 6-1 at times. Took her to a minor league baseball game, and after nine innings she told me that she wanted to try dating another hotter guy she'd met through the same dating site. That hooked me instantly with her being that brutally honest with me, and thanked her for a great first and only date.

She happened to work for a local country radio station, so a couple weeks pass and I hear on the morning show she dumps the other guy because he takes longer to fix his hair than she does. I know she's on the air so I text her "How about that second date?" We got married two years later, and will have been married eight years this September.

I was 38 when I finally got married, I just had to wait for the right one to be put in my path. I also got a wonderful daughter as part of a packaged deal. That daughter is now 15 and one of the best hunting buddies a guy could have.
I was the DOS guru at Cincinnati State. KYHillChick was one of my students. The quarter started NOV1 and my divorce from Satan (Wife 1.0) was final on Nov8. During the class, she came up and told me we had to talk. After class, I took her to the break room and she said she couldn't eat or sleep-- couldn't stop thinking of me.

When I got home, I called my boss (SuperCore) and told him. He said it was okay to date her. He then asked me if she wanted to take his COBOL class Winter Quarter.

We were engaged the following September, married on NOV1 and Angus was born the next April.
Mutual friends. We both worked at different bars in Fort Collins CO.

We met, she stalked me, married 5 years later. I got lucky for sure.

In the bars. Dance halls . yep plural.
She worked with my sister, blind date. The truth.
23 good years in September. 2 girls.
She made me and my life better.

I was at her work shopping, went to use the bathroom.
She was just coming out, as I went in.
The smell made me pass out, when I came to, she was leaning over me.
I thought she was an angel.

What I told my 10 year old daughter when, at supper, she asked how we met.

First day I saw my wife at work, I knew what I wanted and reached out with everything I had and took it. Got each others names tattooed at 6 months of dating, been married for 12 years. We can both be overly proud a-holes, but the love is real and keeps getting better. The 9 and 11 year old boys probably helped us stay together through the rough times, but those are long over. When I am away from her, I wish she was there sharing everything with me.

Very handsome lady.

Thank you.
We both worked at a camp for disabled kids. (Lions camp) That was about 35 years ago.
At the USAMU at Ft. Benning, She was a trap shooter and I was a gunsmith...a marriage made in heaven! 23 years and counting.
She was a bridesmaid in my best friends wedding. We talked and she found out I could shoe horses.

I was taking up money at a high school basketball game when she came in with her mother. I was 25 and early in my career teaching. She taught in a nearby county. Her dad was the girls basketball coach. He hand picked me for his daughter and formally introduced her to me after the girls game ended. I drove her home that Friday night in 1983 and we saw "The Man From Snowy River" on Saturday. We were married 10 months later and are still together 35 years, 2 kids and 4 grand kids later. Actually #4 is due next week.

She comes from a big family and I'd grown up with a bunch of her cousins. We were the same age and graduated from high schools less than 10 miles apart and had dozens of mutual friends. But I'd never met, or even heard of her.

We were supposed to meet a week earlier. She has a younger brother that played on a local college basketball team. One of her cousins was trying to get us together and told me she would be at the game with her family. I went to the game and saw her come in and sit on the opposite side of the gym. But she was was wearing a dressy type dress. That just didn't seem like the kind of clothing I'd choose to wear to a basketball game and I figured she was too high maintenance for my tastes. I was expecting jeans and a sweatshirt so I left without trying to make contact. I found out later that she had to attend a more formal function just before the game and didn't have time to change.

In an elementary school. She was my nephews student teacher when he was in Kindergarten at the time. Most folks get locked up picking up chicks in an elementary school smile
I have known my wife since we were in middle school together. We rode the same school bus too. Knowing her this long, you would think that I would have her figured out. crazy

IF you know a woman for 100 years, I seriously doubt that any man will truly understand what makes them tick. = Females over 12YO have more layers than the average onion & they change constantly too.

Absolutely spot on!
I met my wife in the electrical engineering lab at the university of Washington.
She was showing me how to calculate phasors.

She looked like a stripper.
She dressed like a sunday school teacher.
She talked strictly technical like Mr Spock.
The other nerd engineers thought that was the brush off.

Just before the invention of the internet, there was the personal column in the back of a local farming magazine.
This "country girl" who liked horses and picking huckleberries wanted to meet an honest man of the same age for a long term commitment.
I called and had to leave a message.
She called back and had to leave a message.
I finally got ahold of her and we agreed to meet for coffee at Sheri's restaurant. Good thing it was a 24 hour joint because we sat there and talked for over four hours.

After that little chat, I knew deep down that she would be mine for the rest of my life no matter what should ever happen.

That was pretty close to twenty years ago. But it seems like yesterday.

Except mine, for some unfathomable reason I ended up with one of those that are eminently reasonable and puts her family first before herself...yep I have no idea what happened either!
Just loved reading these stories so here's ours......

We met at Purdue University in 1963. It was during Greek Week. I was a RA at a dorm and she was a pledge at a sorority. We both were forced to go to a party between her sorority and my fraternity; neither one of us wanted to be there. So I had to pick her up at her house and walk her back later. I got her number. We had a coke date soon after and then school was out for the summer. She was a cute chick but the world was full of cute chicks back in those days........

The next fall I tried to call her any number of times but never connected. TG I finally did. So we started dating (mostly study dates) that fall, got engaged at Christmas and got married two days after school was out in 1965. We had a one day honeymoon and took off for Boston to start grad school/ internships, etc. Fast forward to 53 years later. She means everything to me. We were blessed to have one son who married well and have two grandsons, who are my hunting and fishing buddies. She has been the most amazing wife, mother and grandmother ever. The Lord has blessed us abundantly and we will be in services later today to send praises up to HIM.
Blind date with stout resistance from both parties. Many mutual friends but our paths had never crossed.

Saw her in a store an hour before our date and commented to my pard about the beautiful slim blonde in the checkout line.Ironically he had set up the date through a mutual friend and didn't know her.

Going on 24 years. We've conquered several very rough patches.

I met my wife at a "hand tub" fireman's muster after a somewhat long challenging separation from a previous wife. Nancy has been by my side for 47 years this coming February. She also hunts and fishes with me.

Linda and I met on a blind date that was set up by a mutual friend. Next month we celebrate 35 years! I'd marry her again in a heartbeat!
Mine was picked for me after I screwed up looking for love. married two women I should have known and moved on from. Both cheated and left. Wife's mom and my teacher had been friends for 40 years and my teacher kept telling me she knew a girl I should meet. Both of us blew that off multiple times as we went thru college and life. Met at age 29 finally and have been best friends since. Married in 2012, she is my best shooting and fishing buddy as well. Out-fishes me a lot but I still love her.
On a street corner. Really. Was hanging out with some buddies on a closed gas station lot one snowy Sunday afternoon. This was on the main drag where the high school kids used to troll. Saw these 2 hot chicks drive by several times and finally lobbed a snowball their way. Married the red headed one 9 months later. That was 43 years ago. I was 18 and she 19.
Work.
She was my secretary at work until her cigarettes and lung cancer departed us. Then I found the wife, truck and our home on the Internet and all three have been great.
A friend and I were at a dance bar in PA back in 1979 (back in Disco days ) when she walked in, he wanted to talk to her but I beat him to it.

We just celebrated our 38 wedding anniversary.

A fraternity brother introduced me to my wife at a bar. She was the younger sister of another fraternity brother. Despite her brother's advice we married and remain married for 47 years, so far.
I met my wife at a wedding. She was the maid of honor and I was the best man. Our first encounter was at the rehearsal the night before and we just didn’t hit it off. Of course I was obliged to dance with her at the wedding reception but we still didn’t have a spark. At the end of the night and after a lot of alcohol we got a little bit more interested in each other. Well things picked up from there and we just celebrated our 25th anniversary.
Frat party first week of college. Buddy and I were trying to decide who to hit on, when two girls walked up downing bottles of Boones Farm. One of them finished her bottle and pitched it over her shoulder, hitting another girl in the head. I knew right then she was for me. Been married 27 years now.
To All,

I met her at an antique glass & china show in Dallas, on a Thursday evening.. - A soft/melodious/feminine voice said, "Sir, could you hand me that purple vase that's right by your left arm?"

I turned around & looked into the prettiest pair of big blue eyes that I'd ever seen. Truthfully, I fell heart-first into those lovely eyes. - After she examined the vase, I asked her if she would join me for coffee.

She said, "YES."

About 2 hours later, after several cups of expresso, I asked her if she would go to dinner with me.

She said, "YES."

After dinner, we went dancing & later that night she asked me to come home with her.

I said, YES" & the following Monday night I went home & back to work. = It really was "love at first sight." - We married about 100 days later.

Note: Besides her obvious beauty, my Darla is a dead shot with a Remington Model 7615 and will go fishing/boating/camping with me, though more often that not, instead of fishing she works on her tan, reads trashy romance novels and/or make special Sicilian treats for us. - We have "so many ways alike" that she could finish my sentences for me within 2 weeks of meeting me.
(She also tolerates my faults, of which I have many.)

I met my wife at a rifle range up here in Minnesota. She worked the desk in the office. I had taken a work transfer up here to run an optical lab and was looking for a place to shoot. That was over 30 years ago, and I was lucky enough to marry my best friend. She puts up with all my many imperfections, is a great mother, and great friend to all her many acquaintances. I can't imagine me being with anyone else.

Now we are winding down our working years and looking forward to buying land are retiring up north. We can't wait to get away from the city and just be able to gear down a bit. It will be nice to hunt on my own land, grow a nice garden, and just fade off into the sunset together.

I met my wife at work. As a matter of fact, she was one of the supervisors that interviewed me. My buds asked me if there were any babes there. I told them I had an eye on one. After I got hired and we worked together (lots of environmental field work) for about a year, I told her we were going to get married one day. She said that ain't gonna happen. My oldest son is in the application process for Med School and my daughter is in HS. I consider myself a blessed man.
June 11, 1983 at a Marine bar / hang out, the Saddleback Inn in Santa Ana, Ca. Not that far away from the now closed Marine Corps Air Stations El Toro and Tustin.

Earlier in the day a bunch of us Marines chartered a fishing boat out of Dana Point and spent the day fishing. We all made plans to go back to base, clean up and hit the town. We were all to meet at the Saddleback Inn that evening. Well, they all flaked out and I went alone. The future wife was to meet a group of her friends there. They all skipped out on her, also. So, I spy her there all alone. I walked over to her table and asked how she was doing. Her response, "I'm doing fine, thank you. But, I can do just as well on my own." Damn, shots fired! I love a challenge! We laughed, I pulled up a chair and we talked and danced all night. Went to breakfast and made arrangements to meet for another date. We've been together ever since.

She was the perfect Marines girlfriend and became the perfect cops wife. She never hassled me about missed dinners, holidays, sudden overtime and the likes. She stood beside me at lost partners funerals and saw me through to retirement.

It's still a love story in progress....

Blind date set up by my brother who's wife's father worked with her.

If I am honest with myself, there is a very good chance I'd still be unmarried, if I didn't phone her up and ask her out. I am not very socially inclined and I tended to look at a woman and ask if she would be someone I would marry. If the answer was no, I would not ask her out. With my standards set at such a high level, there was not much dating as I was not willing to invest time dating a woman I did not think was marriage material.

We have been married over 24 years.

Met my wife at work. Saw her at a sales meeting, stalked up some intel on her, took an opportunity to help at her office, and asked her out. We’d both had pretty bad experiences recently & had kids w/ other people. Knew within a month we would be married never proposed just told her. Met 10/21/98 married 05/24/99 and she is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Marriage (and parenthood) has been the greatest source of maturity & growth in my life. Not living for oneself but with a higher purpose... so grateful God put this woman and her daughter in front of me like He did.
The first time in kindergarden went all the way thru school together but never dated, she lived about 3 minutes away. Two years after high school we met again on New Years Eve. Her dad made her go to a party in the neighborhood I was kissing a school teacher, I was in the Coast Guard and she was a nursing student. I felt a tap on my shoulder and she said, don't you think you should come up air. We went out a warmed up her dads buick wildcat for a couple of hours. We were married a year later. That was 48 years ago. I do believe God set us up. I'am not smart enough to have realized how great she is.
I met a gin soaked barroom queen in Memphis.
She tried to take me upstairs for a ride.
She had to heave me right across her shoulder …

Then I - turned off my car radio and walked into the church
where I met my ever faithful loving wife!

I was out moose hunting in Kotsina on the side of the Mountain that the Army Corps. of Engineers flattened out to land Carter to dedicate Wrangell St. Elias Park near Lorraine Creek when I found a young bull moose that I shot at about 300 yards with a 270 winchester M700 Remington with Bushnell Scopechief scope and a green box 130 grain corebond. I had finished gutting and cutting up most of the moose when she came up with Ada Wilson picking berries. I was pretty shy but I gave them a moose quarter. I was 14 years old and she was 13 years old. We went steady during my freshman and sophomore year in high school. However, she decided to break up with me because she thought that she would get in the way of my Harvard journey and future. Her mother kicked her out of the house and she moved to Wasilla. She survived that and went through a lot of financially tough times. We got back together after I had finished my education and was teaching out in Ambler. She had a young son and was doing ok in Chitina but wasnt prosperous and was being treated pretty badly by the local tribal administrators. She came out to the Bush with me and we were married three years later. That was 20 years ago this Wednesday. She's better than any Radcliffe prima donna and I wouldnt want to experience life with anybody else.

Wifey knows I still care for the first one. She knows I could never get along with her.

I dated a former stripper for while. She was hard to get along with also.
In a country dance bar that I hung out at quite a bit after my divorce. I was pretty drunk but immediately noticed the pretty blonde when she walked in with her date. She was down in Denver from Laramie to go dancing. I ended up talking to her date for most of the night about hunting in WY. He promised to show me some prime mule deer country. She kept eyeing me and smiling but I didn't think it proper to cut in on another guy's lady. As the night ended, I gave the guy my card and got his info so we could stay in touch. She later told me that she was hoping and praying that I would giver her my card as well so she could call me, but I didn't. The next Monday, I emailed the guy and told him that it was nice to meet him and his girlfriend and to see if they wanted to get together sometime. Unbeknownst to me, he forwarded my email to his girl. A few hours later, I get a call from her and she says, "Do you remember me from Friday night?" and then asked if I wanted to go out with her. I asked about her boyfriend and she said he wasn't really her boyfriend, just a date, and it was nothing serious. So, I agreed to go out with her and to meet in Ft. Collins since that was half way between my place and Laramie. Turns out, the day we set for our first date was her birthday. I tried my darndest to change the day just so I wouldn't have the pressure of a first date and her birthday to deal with. She kept saying that it was fine, not to worry about her birthday, etc. Had a great first date and continued on. She only had 3 months left of law school and ended up spending most of her time at my place and commuting to Laramie for classes. How she passed, I don't know. After graduation, she moved in with me and we were married 3 months later. She was pregnant the day after we were married. We now have 3 kids and have been together for 17 years. The difference between her and my first wife is stark. Glad that she called me that day. Wish I would have met her 15 years prior. And, oh yeah, I never heard from her date that night again. Guess he didn't feel so generous about sharing his hunting spots with me after he lost his girl.

Yep Dean taught me how to trap. My wife was the daugther of Ed Teiga's girlfriend. Ed Teiga had a homestead next to Dean's. My wife still sells beadwork to Ada who runs a gift shop on 14 mile Edgerton. I am an original Kenny Laker and she is an original Chitina Chick.
My wife tells the kids we met at church but we actually met at a bar. Her room mate had a blind date with a buddy of mine and she went along to make sure he wasn't ted bundy or something. The buddy wasn't exactly a lady's man so 5 or 6 of us showed up to try and c block him. We started talking after she threw a quarter at me as she thought i was being a jerk. It's our 14th anniversary today.

She was mad at her dad, so I drove her home - turned out to be 55 miles, the way we had to go (due to a bad snow storm)

As I told a friend last evening "I'm brighter than she is - look who I married! "

I was a widower when I met my wife on a Christian online dating site. Sometime you can meet a good one that way but you sure have to sort through the chaff. It'll be 10 years in November.
It was interesting to see how many women from the Philippines had profiles exactly matching mine. Yeah, right.
Internet. Got two daughters and one son out of the deal. She stays home and raises the kiddos, and I fish my ass off to pay the bills. Life is good.
Rock Chuck, you and I both did the same thing after the widower thing. I took a woman out for dinner one night and she was complaining that there was not a lot of good guys out there anymore. They were all either married or gay she figured and then she said that even the Internet dating sites hadn't been working out for her. It was like an epiphany for me, so I thought well why not? What do I have to lose? I can find near anything else that I want on the Internet. Well holy smokes! You put up a few good pictures, write a few well written paragraphs... and you get inundated with messages from women who want to meet you. Professional women too who don't have the time to go honey hunting out on the streets. You need to have something to bring to the table too, but they are out there and from what I can tell, there are way more nice women than nice guys out there looking.
The dating site I used took all of 2 hours to find me a wife. I posted my profile and only 2 hrs later I got a reply from someone who looked interesting. We got married a year later. Needless to say, it doesn't always work out that way.
Very interesting topic. Thanks for sharing.

We met casually in high school once or twice, but went to rival schools on opposite ends of the county so we didn't get to know each other. Freshman year of college (1998), she and her girl friends spent a lot of time hanging out with me and my roommates and friends, because we had an apartment and they all lived in the dorm. Our place was party central and was always the hub of activity. 2nd or 3rd week of school, I asked her out and we went to dinner with another couple. She seemed disinterested (turns out she was just shy), so I moved on and chased other girls for the rest of the semester. Because we had so many mutual friends, we always ended up together at the same parties or hanging out with the group, probably seeing each other 3 or 4 days a week and becoming really good friends. Finally, during the last weekend of that first semester, she was out partying with friends (I had no idea) and I was supposed to have a study date with another girl, but I got stood up and studied alone. About midnight the phone rang and it was a friend that had just got back from the bar and told me to get off my ass and meet them for "late night" at his apartment and that all our friends were headed that way. When I got there, the first person I saw was her. 30 mins later we snuck out of the party and walked back to my place, where I put some music on, turned the lights down and asked her to dance (cheesy, but it worked!!!). That was 20 years ago this fall and we've been together ever since. We got married in 2003, and have 2 beautiful daughters now.

And that, Gentlemen, is the whole crux of the thing.
Met my wife when I was a Sr. in High School, a classmates younger sister ( 2 yrs younger than me). She was very pretty, but still young. I joined the Army after graduating in '71, and a few months later she starts writing me, just casual. I didn't see her again until a year later, on furlough from GE. She had "blossomed", OMG! ha Typical 70's girl, long golden blonde hair to her belt, parted down the middle, bell bottom jeans/sandals, crop top. She is short ( I'm tall) but she looks like a Miniature Barbi Doll, ha. Had one date, went back overseas. We wrote constantly and once I month I paid $90 for an overseas phone call! When I got out the following year, started dating , saw her almost everyday for 8 mos, then I asked her dad for her hand in marriage. she was still a Sr. in HS! We had twin girls right off the bat. Still married, soon be 45yrs. She is a strong Type A ( of course I'm a "stronger" Type B!) and if she had been 6ft tall I might have killed her, she's a very strong woman ( I like that, raised my girls to be the same way!) and ended up in prison, ha. But, at 5ft 2" she's just real cute, very classy and has a way of standing her ground that makes you like it...:)
