Wife on her way to work this morning arrived at the last light intersection before turning off to her office. Light is green she starts out into the intersection and BAM...motorcycle slams into the right side of our cherry '98 Chevy truck. Hit her hard enough to actuate the air bag and destroy right front passenger side. She starts vacation Monday and I'm retired so I guess we'll just sit and wait on the insurance companies. I've never seen one drive or look right after a T bone. Oh well, such is life. Damn, I loved that truck. powdr

*Thank God the man on the motorcycle only suffered a broken ankle.

T-boned

Hmmmmm

Is that code?
Posted By: Big Stick Re: Ever been T boned? - 06/08/19
Yep.

Driver's side on my brand new fhuqking crummy(had less than 100 miles on it). Gal ran a 4-way and I had no moves, but to cringe.

Adjuster said it could "be fixed" and I threw my keys in the center of his chest and told him to get fhuqked.

They cut me a check.

i ain't never had a insurance co. to tell me "it can be fixed."

their std story line is it's totaled.

Never been - but daughter T-Boned a drunk, turning in front of her.
First vehicles behind her were a deputy sheriff and a city cop.
When I got the call, the deputy told me "Your car is really screwed up!"
I answered "As long as the people involved are OK, it doesn't matter, it's an insurance problem"
Took me a bit to convince the cops that I DIDN'T CARE about the vehicles - just the people. Autos can be repaired or replaced. I'm no good at fixing folks - and really sorry at replacing them!

Stinky, did your new crummy come with a booster seat so you could see over the steering wheel and extended pads on the pedals so you little stubby feetys could reach them? I bet it was real cute. Stank like hell probably.

Got t boned by a car load of messicans. Spun my 3500 crew cab 180°, knocked the rear axel out of it, Truck landed on top the trunk of a Toyota and one of my tool boxes broke free and landed on yet another car. Found my Stihl cut off saw half a block down the road. I didn't have a cut, bruise or even get sore the next day.

Yep, in college we were in Chicago working over winter break. I was riding shotgun going thru an intersection downtown by the Presidential Towers when I look to my right and read the word "CADILLAC" from about 2 feet away, then lights out. When I came to, that darkly pigmented individual was screaming his head off about his new Fleetwood and how we blew a red light. Unfortunately, he failed to see the cop that was following us. Of course, no insurance. I got a concussion out of the deal and my buddy's Olds was totaled.

Later that night my buddy wanted his Alpine stereo out of the car, so he hopped a cab to the south side where the car was in a yard on MLK Boulevard. The messican cab driver tells us to keep our heads down; "they might shoot at me, but they'll sure as hell shoot at you." Great. He gave us two minutes to get in and out with the stereo.

Good times.

I got T- Boned by a drunk doing 65 mph.
He hit right behind my driver's seat in the extra cab of my Chevy 4x4.
The impact flipped my truck onto it's roof, caving in all of the glass.
We were hung upside down by our seat belts.
We climbed out the shattered windows to safety.
Horrible experience.

Don’t ask. Don’t tell.

Twice. Both times it was the other guy’s fault. Both times they totaled my truck. First truck was brand new... three weeks old. I hadn’t even made the firs payment yet.

In August of 2016 my wife and I were t-boned by a woman that ran a red light while texting. It blew all of the air bags and totaled our 2013 Avalanche with 32,000 miles on it. She hit about two feet in front of my drivers side door and the cops couldn't believe we walked away. Her engine was damn near out of the car pretty much held in by belts and hoses. Bonus to the whole thing is that she was uninsured.

Back in the mid 70's I acquired a 1960 International Scout 4x4 that was in pretty good shape but had some rust through spots and needed paint. I spent many hours fixing it up and painting it and shortly after I had it cherry some dumb ass t-boned the drivers side. I wasn't seriously hurt but boy was I pissed!

No t-bone but rear ended two weeks ago. Only caused couple grand in damage to my truck. The lady that hit me, along with her kids were ok. That's all that matters, her insurance called me next day said they were taking full responsibility and it's in the shop right now. The story she was telling the kids to be quiet she turned saw green light smashed the gas pedal propelling the suburban right into the back of my truck.

Kenworth pulling doubles changed lanes and hit my Toyota just behind the real wheel, spun me in front of him, hit me again in the drivers side door and pushed me sideways about fifty yards, sure glad the KW had a low bumper and didn't roll right over me.
Still got a clear memory of the grill trying to climb in the window, actually more accurate to say trying to climb in my ear, since I think my head was against the truck.

No, but I done the T-bone'n once. Kid decides to pull right out in front of me in dad's Escalade. He was crossing the road and decided to wait till I was two car lengths away to do so.
Posted By: MadMooner Re: Ever been T boned? - 06/08/19
I T-Boned a car a few years ago. Small four door, hit ‘em right in the back door going 50ish. Popped all the airbags in both cars. Both totaled.

16-17 YO kid in the other car ended up with a broken jaw, the rest of us were GTG for the most part.

It was actually kinda fun. That fear/anger/excitement thing is pretty intense.

Big stick is speaking Loggernese, I think CHI or Helifor dialect.

Crummy is the crew truck, bus or whatever to get everyone to the work site from either camp or town.

My mom ran a red light in a Dodge Dakota and got t-boned on the passenger side by a full size SUV. My 75 year old grandmother was in the passenger seat. The Dakota looked like a horse shoe. The passenger side door was pushed in almost to the center of the cab. Broke Mom's arm and about half scalped her when her head got raked across the rear view mirror.

My grandmother, who was sitting on the side that got hit, bit her tongue. That's it.

When I got to the hospital my mom was in a bed with her head stitched up. My grandmother was sitting in a chair reading a magazine.

I'll never understand how my grandmother didn't die in that wreck,....and she didn't even have any serious injuries.

I t-boned another pick up, we were both doing 30-35 mph through an intersection. The other driver started in about me blowing through a red light but I was following another car through the light and had another behind me stating the light was green. The cop was writing out a ticket for the other driver when I looked up and saw the light was green for both ways. It got the other driver out of a ticket but he was so obnoxious about it the cop said he wanted to right me up for telling the other driver.

It was a 5 year old Chevy and the insurance company repaired it as damages was just below half the value of the truck.

Another time I hit a woman when she cut in front of me at an intersection. A moving truck blocked her view and she turned left in front of me. I folded the front quarter panel of my 7 month old Ranger but was able to get enough clearance to drive it. The next evening I chained the front frame to the tow hooks of our back up engine and backed up while a coworker smacked the folded metal with a 3 pound sledge and a block of wood. We got most of the dent out and I drove it like that for several years.

I responded to a vehicle accident on the highway in my home town. Coming up to the intersection I commented to the crew that one of the cars looked like my mom's car. I then blew it off as it was more than hour before she normally left for work. Got closer and I changed my mind when I got a better look at the car. A minivan hit just forward the driver's door and ripped the front end off her '78 Malibou station wagon and the other one. She had a slice along the side of her head but nothing else noticeable at the scene.

When we got back to the station I hopped in my car and arrived at the ER just in time to hear the Dr tell my mom she needed 11 or 12 stitches to close up the cut. I told him to make it 12 as we didn't want to lose any rocks.
