Oldest daughter made a casserole called: "Green Chili Chicken" last night. It's a favorite of mine, served with rice. I'm surprised there aren't any restaurants serving a similar dish. Anyone else have special casseroles that can only be prepared from home?

Not a casserole, but I do make what I call bambischnitzel, which is jagerschnitzel with morel gravy over homemade spaetzle. Add some cucumber salad, bread and a good kolsch or hefeweizen and it’s good eats. Haven’t seen it in a restaurant yet

To add she leaves it in the oven and extra 10 min or so to get the cheese and coating to just turn dark brown on edges just for me.

When she makes it for outside the family its much lighter and more what you might see in a restaurant.

You guy's are killing me with those pics!
It's about time to order chile's from New Mexico to roast and freeze.

I've made a chile relleno casserole but it doesn't look as good as that.

How about some recipes, especially for Chili Relleno casserole. I had a good one but it disappeared into a recipe black hole.

Did you ask her to share it to get you out of Dutch with the guys on the Fire or just cower away?

Those sure look good. I would add my name to those requesting recipes.

This might hold one over until the other recipe comes up.

No photo, but my wife makes stuffed peppers with green enchilada sauce instead of tomatoes and mixes in a good quantity of green chile. Top with sharp shredded cheese and bake until the cheese melts.Ground meat and rice is cooked ahead of time. We had it tonight .

Close! If not the actual recipe!! Man, it's good!

I don’t like the richness of straight cream cheese. I think the wife mixes it with cream of chicken.

We obviously have some very gifted cooks among our ranks. Every time a food thread runs on here I'm impressed by the offerings. We make all kinds of casseroles-of course here in Minnesota, you're outed as a traitor to the state if you don't call them "hotdish". That green chili chiken really looks good.

Poblanos so usually mild however depending on where they are grown you can get some in the lower jalapeño range of heat. Especially since the chilies are roasted which causes the heat chemicals to permeate the chilies.

I wonder why this thread here rather than the food area?

Anyway I think one can leave out the cream cheese and add 1 can of Cream of Chicken soup
