Well, I just found out the other day I won the lottery of life....no, really! I am the winner in the 1 in a million
male breast cancer lottery....yeah, it still sounds weird to say "I have male BREAST cancer".....
they took a sample and did the biopsy....yep, I win....go for the PET scan on Monday...and them I guess I will find out what comes next.....from the biopsy they call it stage 2B....so that is better than 4 so there is that.
If anyone of y'all know of anyone who has gone through this, and would like to share their experience, I would appreciate it. Long history of the big C in my family so having it is not a surprise, but having MALE
BREAST cancer is a shock. I am the third in the last year here in High Point so it is not common. Sigh...and on goes the circle of life.....................
The best to you, hang in there.
Good luck. Glad they caught it early. Did you find a lump?
Yeah, lump has been under, or behind, nipple for a while....kept waiting for it to go away...wife has had heart problems and the lump was not important. Finally asked her to check it 2 weeks ago and away we went.
Told me how dumb I was to not say anything......I really thought it would just go away.............................
Good luck, prayers sent!
Good luck!

Didn't Pat Sajak's announcer have that too?
Keep a positive attitude. Gal down at work had stage 4 breast cancer and they cured it, she's cancer free now.
Thoughts and prayers from Iowa.
Sorry to hear this! Please keep a positive attitude - a friend was diagnosed with this about 20 years ago and he is still going strong. My wife was diagnosed with a rare breast cancer over 15 years ago. We were told that the type of cancer she had was fatal 97% of the time. We talked to my nephew, who is an oncologist, and he gave us the name of a specialist in the field. My wife had a double mastectomy and was on chemo for five years - but - she is alive and well today. Do not go to a local dr /hospital who may or may not know what they are doing. Get on the phone and call people!! Google is your friend - call drs all over the country and see if you can find someone who is recommended. If we had taken the advice of the local drs. I would be a widower right now.

Fighting cancer is a lonely thing but you and your family are the best advocates for YOU! Make the calls and find the docs!

Please keep us informed. There is a wealth of knowledge and experience on this board and lots of wonderful, wonderful folks who will help and support you if you let them.

We will be praying for you!
Prayers sent !!!
Done! Sounds like you still caught it early, and I expect you will beat it.
Prayers sent.
Done here. Hang in there. Believe. Fight.
If ( probably when) I get cancer, I’m going to the Mayo Clinic. Might as well try to get the best treatment available.
Prayers sent.

Prayers for you bud , listen to Johnny Dollar ........
Glad you caught it early. Prayers for you and your family.

Chin up, lock horns with that SOB and kick it's ass!! You got this Bro.
I understand the shock and you will be in my prayers. I will offer a different perspective on some advice you've been given so far.

This past February I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Papillary Carcinoma, the most common type of thyroid cancer. As with breast cancer, it's also more common in women, but not to such a degree. I live in Wyoming, so not very close to any major medical center. I have family in Houston, including a DIL who is a nurse at the MD Anderson Cancer Center there. I had a lot of encouragement to go there for my treatment. But I trusted my doctors here. I had a good relationship with my oncologist, I had his cell number and could call or text him any time. I'm not sure you'll get that at the Mayo Clinic. To me the cost and stress of traveling to get treatment in a different location was outweighed by the benefits of staying home. I suggest you trust your gut on this one. I went through two surgeries and radiation here in Wyoming and have no regrets. I have had two consecutive blood tests that are good.

I am hoping and praying for the best for you.
Thoughts and prayers from far Northern California. Several women on my Mom's side of the family have had breast cancer, and all beat it, except my Mom. I have often wondered if I have a greater chance of getting breast cancer because of that. God luck and best wishes.
Hey nifty....look into genetic testing....because of my family history, and my wife's, we both had it done this week...waiting on results...as they told us, breast cancer runs in bunches...so you may be at risk also.
thanks.
Prayers to you and yours
Praying for you.
Keep us in your loop, we'll keep praying for you.
Sorry to hear this, prayer's sent! Hang in there!
Sorry to hear this. I know it's easier said than done, but you need to remain positive. That, and having a positive support group of family and friends can work wonders. Best of luck to you. Don't let it get you down!
Prayers for healing and strength.
Sorry to hear this. I had a lump checked out ~15 years ago - it was a cyst.
"The Warden" has had 2 rounds with breast cancer, one in 2010 - and one in 2017.
We didn't know that 2 of her cousins had it, until one of them died (waited too long), then one of her sisters had to have a lumpectomy.

We've been down that 2--track road, and know how rough it is!

Breast cancer is NOT uncommon in males.

I could also recommend the Cancer Treatment Centers of America - assuming your insurance will send you to one of them.
Ours wouldn't send her out of state for the second go-round. frown
Sir, you have my prayers. Stay strong and be with God's Peace.

Prayers sent. Its a fight and ya have to be in it to win it, will it get bad yea,but if ya start with the right mind set ya can do it.
PET scan detects if the cancer mover to another area. The test is easy, the put radioactive tagged sugar in your arm and see where it goes. Cancer is hungry, so the radiation tag will show if there are other tumors.

Try to eat good food to keep up your nutrition. The radiation knocked the pss out of me. I had a throat cancer, but the 30 days of radiation get tough after day 15. You will sleep lot, and the radiation is like a bad bruise and sunburn. Doesn't hurt that much. I think the worst part was worry, and not being able to do anything physical. At the end I had a hard time lifting a gallon of milk.
Takes about a year to get close to normal.
Not knowing the experience was probably the toughest part. I lost about 40 pounds because I could not swallow, and no appetite. I had to drink ensure for nutrients, and they aint too bad. I had a 30% chance of survival, so being stubborn helps.

You don't feel the radiation much. My neck would spasm a little, but no real sensation. In my hospital all cancer patients go to a physiologist because cancer patients do the suicide thing often, that kinda shocked me.

Waiting room for radiation is kinda wild because you see some serious suffering, some don't make it. That is tough to see. Women were a lot tougher than the men. Most women had breast cancer, and they were psychologically tougher.

Best wishes, kick a$$.
Lamentations 3:22-23 New International Version (NIV)

22 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.

Wake up every day with this verse.
Hang tough, you can beat this.
Prayers from Maine. Stay strong!
Thanks guys!
My Dads brother had breast cancer.

They found it after his stent in the med.corp.

He lived to be 82 years old.

Hope they get it all.
Finally got a "good " phone call....surgeon just called and wants to see me tomorrow...PET scan yesterday
results showed no other spots other than the original breast cancer. Told him he could cut today if he wanted to but he is doing surgery on others today. So thanks for all the prayers and kind thoughts....seems like they worked. God is good!
Now keep in mind it could happen to you.....or others in your family ....don't say to yourself like I did: it will go away...maybe yes, maybe no.....

Thank you God.
Wishing you All the Best. May your doctors have the skills, may you have the resolve, and may the many prayers for you be answered! memtb

I missed the initial post, sir, but am delighted to hear of the outcome! Yes, God is Good! Amen!!
Glad to hear it's still localized. Still going to pray here.

Ed
update; met with surgeon this afternoon and he scheduled surgery for two weeks from tomorrow for complete mastectomy....figures to go get all of it and lymph nodes as well.
Still waiting for last hormone test to determine if and how much chemo I will need. Not much hopefully. His comment was that all would be well and healed in four weeks. We shall see!
Thanks for thoughts and prayers/

Ain't no seems Brother! Amen.

Cancer got it's ass kicked once again, it's a good day.
Well someone shot my optimism full of holes yesterday...that someone was my oncologist with the news that he finally got the last of the tests back...the hormone tests...and they were NOT good. So my choice(?) is either chemo first NOW or surgery NOW AND chemo later...either way I am not getting out of chemo....and radiation later. I kinda want this stuff out but the DR's are thinking chemo first is the thing to do.....but all the testing is done with it on women and there is not enough on men to really know...sooooooo......
at this point I just don't know which evil I want....I was really pumped the other day thinking in 4-6 weeks all this would be over and life would be back to 'normal'.....guess that is not going to happen.
Thanks for all your prayers and thoughts. I really appreciate them.
Sorry to hear this. God bless. Prayers sent.
how close are you to Duke UMC ?

My prayers go out to you. I know what you are going through. I have been through it with wife. Cancer Sucks. Now you are going to be dealing with the medical oncology / cancer business. And trust me, it is a business.

I am not suggesting that you disregard what your doctors are suggesting. But what I am suggesting is that you might want to investigate adjunctive and complimentary treatments that have a basis in medical science. Here is a starting point that involves a guy by the name of Joe Tippens:

https://www.mycancerstory.rocks/

https://www.wellness-speaks.com/episode-040-wellness-speaks-with-joe-tippens-about-his-cancer-story/

PLEASE take the time to read his blog / follow up on the medical research sources he has listed (which are from prestigious publications) and listen to the pod cast interview of Joe.

If you want to discuss this further, please contact me privately.

Best of luck to you!

will do
The fun starts tomorrow. Short surgery to install chemo port in upper left chest. Seems the final hormone report came back a big surprise...Dr called it HR 2 Positive which means chemo NOW for 6 cycles , one every 3 weeks...then surgery and a month after that radiation every day for 2-3-4 weeks (?)....don't remember how many that Dr said...no matter that will start next year. Hang boys the ride is gonna get rough!
Again, thanks for your thoughts and prayers.
Wishing you all the best. Stay positive. Prayers will continue.

Prayers from Rowan for a fellow Carolinian. Please keep us updated on how things are going.

fgold, I've been following this and praying for you daily, and that will continue.. It can be difficult enough to have such a surprise diagnosis and try to figure out how you will deal with the consequences. But, to get a rather positive report after the PET and then - shortly thereafter - to be told that another reading shows significantly greater threat and the need for much more invasive treatment - that can hit a fellow hard. Don't become discouraged - you are still fighting the same battle but just with newer and better info about your enemy, and with different weapons. You are up to this and can beat the disease. Trust your fighting spirit, your doctors and God. Holding you up to our God.
