That's what I have to say about this ole 1949 Marlin 336 in 30-30

Buddy dropped it off to me....action locked up....stock broken....zip lock bag of parts......

So luckily scoring a stock here in the ads...thanx Kent AKA 'skinner'

Had some serious cleaning...polishing/buffing to do....loading gate screw needed shortened

Finally got 'er back together & running smooth......ready to get back in the saddle scabbard...

pic one...shows the ole cowboy used a copper rivet in place of the carrier/elevator screw....

I really think this ole girl was left in the barn & forgotten.....for a year.........or two......

pic two.....epoxy was used to so so secure stock to receiver...... cry

I told ya that would buff out.
Beautiful!
all that needs is a 4-16x50 on see throughs and it will be perfect
Wonderful post rifle. I hope that it shoots as good as it looks.
It's got character only years of use can give!

I like character like that!
That is sweet-- shoot it-- kill something!!
Thinking that's the way the sucker ought to look.

A few guns I have have good stories to tell. The rest............. "oh I just spent most of my life in a steel vault or hung on a wall while my friends went out to play."

Dang it! a regret. In another life I would try to have a few that were worn to nub.

Life is backwards for some when it comes to knowledge, money & energy.
Way to salvage a classic!
Very nice job with that !!!
Nice,
Very awesome on getting that back to functional again!

Just curious, does it still shoot well?
You did well. It came out good. Go kill something.
Nice job, tikkanut.
Any idea on the history of this rifle?
Nice job bringing this old gal back to life.
Very nice work! Looks like it was a great day in Podunk yesterday.
Looking great. I’m glad that stock worked out for you.
Working guns are the best!
Now that's a man's gun.
Well done!
got some before pictures?

what did the bore look like?

have you tied it into a tire and pulled the trigger with a string yet?
You will love it! I’ve got one made in 1951 that I won’t part with.
There's one I would like to see. Years ago, a guy here in so. Idaho was hunting out in the sagebrush. He shot a large buck and needed both hands to drag it out so he laid his 30-30 against a sagebrush to come back for it. He couldn't find it.
Forward 30 years...he was hunting in the same area and there it was, still leaning against the sagebrush. The summers in sage country are pretty sunny and there's lots of UV. I doubt it was coated with UV resistant varnish. I wonder what it looked like.
I thought this thread was about Pamela Anderson.
That came out nicely.
I love the look of a well used rifle...
Very nice work! How does the bore look? I bet the action is smooth as silk.
