And give in to the Demons demand to call witnesses?

I say yes they will, & this will drag on; also will give more cover to the 2-3 GOP senators who are not really Trump supporters.

McConnell needs to shut it down once & for all & get it over with; Demons should have made their case in the HoR, not be allowed to add to it in the Senate.

They didn't, they can't & it should be run right up their azzes.

Republicans are not known for having any ballzatall.

They usually roll over like a dog wanting a belly scratch.

This will probably drag on longer then it should. Remember the left-wing and right wing are on the same freaking bird. Deep down inside they all want to get rid of President Trump. So they can get back to conniving stealing and getting rich. It's the good ole boys club. You will never see any one of those pieces of [bleep] be indicted for anything.

True, and what's the best way to damage President Trump and lesson his chances for reelection?

Allow a few witnesses to testify only to be 1) ignored by the public and 2) maybe even help The President?

...or not call any witnesses, giving the Media campaign fodder saying the Republicans are engaged in a cover-up, These Republican Senators need to be gone, President Trump is guilty as hell and the Republicans refuse to allow the evidence to prove it, etc.etc.etc.

The Democrats don't want to call witnesses, they want the Senate to refuse their requests, allowing witnesses is that last thing they want, they want to continue on with accusation that cannot be proven or debunked. Allowing witnesses will end their scheme and finally officially acquit The President. They need to keep this Russia, Ukraine, Dictator narrative alive allowing witnesses will end it all, something they can't afford.

IMO, the Senate will not allow witnesses, they are fine with President Trump being forever accused and never acquitted in the public eye.
Good points; we'll find out soon enough this week.

Tomorrow will be the day the fun starts. Great consternation and gnashing of teeth. smile
If they do, we'll lose the senate, then country in short order!

They are damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Has there ever been an impeachment in the Senate without any witnesses called?

The case & the evidence should have already been done in the HoR as support for bringing impeachment charges...........IOW, the case should already be fully prepared.

The case should simply be presented as is, to the Senate, not being able to call new witnesses unless the defense desires to call them since they were not allowed to call any in the HoR.

Prosecution should already have made their case.

If they do, they will remove the democrats and the media's false narrative and campaign fodder.

It's akin to what the President did when this all started.
They accused him via a "whistle blower" and the accusation snowball was rolled down the hill.
President Trump immediately released the transcript of the phone call, something the democrats and the Deep State never ever thought he would do, and the snowball was blown to smithereens.
This forced the Democrats, the Media and the Deep State to shift gears and go to plan b-c-d...

This is the same tactic by the Democrats and the deep state. Make false accusation under the assumption that President Trump will invoke Executive Privilege. or that the Republicans will refuse to hear the witnesses.

Allowing Bolton to be deposed, testify and be cross examined, is the last thing they want, just like releasing the transcript was the last this they wanted.

They didn't call witnesses in the House for this very reason, to accuse both the President and the Republican controlled Senate of a Cover-up.

If they allow Bolton to testify, the cover-up accusation is blown to smithereens, something the Democrats are hoping and praying the Republicans won't allow.

If the Republican senators are smart, and that is debatable, they'll realize that the longer they allow this circus to drag itself out, the more long term damage that the GOP is going to suffer. The Democrats are going to hate whoever the Republican president is, it doesn't matter. If John McCain was resurrected from the grave, and became president, they would do whatever they thought was necessary to remove him from office. This has never been about anything Trump did, it's been about the fact that the Democrats are not in power.

No way they cave. Call witnesses and they lose their asses. Bolton alone could make impossible to vote to dismiss - and claim to be doing one's job as a senator and constitutional American.

Indeed, the longer they stall, the more irrefutable evidence will accumulate that Trump is guilty and should be removed. Best to eject this as fast as possible and then redirect attention elsewhere. Maybe another attack on Iraq/Iran or some such. Anything to put this in the rear view mirror ASAP.

The GOP can only lose the longer this game goes on.

Dumbass.

If $25M Mueller nothingburger, months of House nothingburger, and 3 years of media and commiecrat lies produced not one shred... one page... one scintilla of evidence Trump had done anything wrong or illegal, the deep state, fired, disgraced, hostile John Bolton won't make any difference either.

It's not Trump you are impeaching. It's everyone that voted for him. And our intelligence.
Posted By: jaguartx Re: Will the Senate GOP Cave? - 01/27/20
Muller investigation, FBI investigation, House investigation, Senate investigations too.

Yep, Schifty had proof of Trump Russia collusion then. Where is it?

Where is the Whistleblower Schiefty reported had Trump by the balls?

Schifty said they had plenty of proof to impeach but then when they got to the Senate, they didnt.

In fact, the articles they passed are not crimes.

If Trump asked for Bidens to be investigated, it isnt a crime.

Now la Roy and Jell0 believe every lie of Schifty. Wonder why? They are stupid.

Trump and those who voted for him are the enemy.
Typical liberal/democrat/mainstream media tactics, ala October surprise (pussy tape) and Kavanaugh hearings. Not surprising at all. What is surprising is that voters forget quickly.

All a democrat has to do under oath is the hillary defense - "I can't remember". "I don't recall."
"I have no recollection of that." and if it's really bad - "I take the 5th." Republicans will be
required to spill their guts.

Strange how two people observe the same thing and have entirely different opinions of what is happening. I see democrats trying to usurp the constitution by weakening the first and second Ammendments. Red flag laws violate the right to due process. Allowing unrestricted immigration into the country. Eliminating the electoral college. All these things and more are examples of democrats undermining the constitution. I will defer to other campfire members to offer more examples of democrats undermining the constitution. The thread will probably go longer than the thread about a helicopter crash.
The constitution is the foundation on which our country was built. There are provisions to change the constitution when necessary but a pen and a phone is not one of those provisions. Neither are career government employees making rules and regulations without consent of Congress. Trump is slowly undoing the unconstitutionalist changes politicians of both parties have implemented over the past two hundred years. Sadly eight years will probably not be long enough to save the nation from the past two hundred years of liberal activism. Liberals will eventually return to power as they have in Virginia. Heaven help us when that happens.

Whatever else the impeachment nonsense has done, it's made Biden totally unelectable,..and has the Democrat power machine in a tizzy about who should now be their candidate.

They don't want Bernie because a general election will shine a bright light on his Communist past. I don't think they really want Elizabeth Warren because she has all the charisma of a puckered up old elementary school teacher.

Indeed. The GAO calls Trump a law-breaker. Sounds like a trial is needed and trials have evidence and witnesses. But those are very dangerous to Trump.

It's also the most blatant attempt at interfering with the upcoming elections by the democraps.

They talk about election interference, all the while conducting an obvious coup to keep him from getting elected again.

The investigation into Trump's activity hit the wall the minute the transcript of the phone call was released.

Nothing there.
Never was.
Game over.

True,....but I don't think they thought this through.

If the trial actually goes on as it should, there's going to be a lot of witnesses that are going to have some serious explaining to do.

I could be wrong,...but I expect McConnell will shut it down without having a trial.

Too much dirt on too many people on both sides of the aisle for it to be presented to the public.
