Just when I thought the Michigan governor couldn’t get any worse, she has proven me wrong.

Yesterday, I get a mass text from the governor’s office saying our lockdown is going to 30 April. But there is a new twist.

As of midnight last night, I am no longer allowed to visit my property that is exactly a 35 minute drive from my house. No, not a joke. You can no longer visit an alternate property as of midnight last night. The governor has determined that it is no longer my right to do so, even if you own it and pay taxes on it. And....even though it is completely impossible for me to get or give the C19 virus. Doesn’t matter.

This is a teachable moment on the psyche of the democratic party in 2020.

In solidarity comrades,

The entire fiasco is a test run to see exactly what DemcoRATS.. and the Global Elite can get away with.. they are setting their baseline now... and then will be slowly pushing that boundary until we all are slaves to their desires...

our politiicans are being controlled by those that control the money....don't think so, just give it time..
and the old "it can't happen here' syndrome... ya better rethink that also...

The Global Elite want the population of this planet reduced by 90 %....

ya don't think this is their first steps in making that a reality?

Think again... what would you do if you were in their shoes, if ya don't believe it.
The democrat anti-American/socialist policies, rules, regulations, and taxes will destroy America forever if we do not vote the democrats out of power in the 2020 election. They should be removed from office and off all the ballots. They offer nothing for America or the people to make the country better.
Soon.

It's comin'.
#disregardthatorder. You couldn’t keep me from visiting my own property. That would be a big FU to the governor.
What a dumb twat

Yep!

We need more Ron Swansons in power.

That said - it's your DUTY as a free American to disobey any order that's horsechit and passed down without factual basis.

Ditto.... I hope a lawsuit gets filed - TODAY - against that effin' Dem...
What if you have livestock on the property ? You supposed to let your cows starve ?
Half-Whitmer again.
Do you Michiganers feel the cops will enforce?

Ya think?

Everyone around me is blowing this off like it’s cool. But the idea that the governor can arbitrarily do that is to me, unbelievable. The sheep will support her, but that’s what sheep do.

Remember, she is often spoken to be on Biden’s short list.
I'd be on the phone to your sheriff's office and I would not obey any of that stupid schit.

There are going to massive lawsuits against counties and municipalities when this is all over.
I'm going to keep my mouth shut if ever pulled for it but "jury nullification" would be the word of the day for me after this all shakes out and where applicable.

RAS - what's interesting, as a WI resident, I'll just buzz up to Bark River and visit property there - I don't answer to her.

Oh, no. Not another conspiracy theorist. They just tryin ta hep u out.
As has been said this is, Social Conditioning, just to see how far they can push this BS.
They can't keep you from feeding your stock, cops don't know. I know it's not hard to come up with something to feed.

The fact that a majority of people are totally fine to these types of orders that are being thrown around is a cause for concern. I can’t believe people are this clueless about their rights being stripped away.
I was planning a motorcycle ride next month. The only requirement was to bring a case of Corona and share it with everybody.
The 7 plagues.
This is really fu^ckin' stupid & really doesn't make much sense.

They say that you cannot travel to your cottage or 2nd residence, but so far, you are still allowed to hunt & fish..............so what's the difference?

I'm in MI right now, drove 75 miles from my house last week to a club on a river that I fish for steelhead as right now is prime time & intend to do so again next week.

Guess we'll see what happens over the next few days.

I really think the the not going to your cottage, etc., is driven by folks in the more remote NW & N areas wanting to keep the folks from SE MI away as that is where 90% of the active C-19 cases are from so the more remote people do not want travelers from the problem areas coming their way.

Whit-less is way, way over her head................if she wants martial law, then she should just declare it & see when the chips fall.

What does it matter if you go for a drive, your allowed to go for walks and walk your dog
I dont agree with it, but i can see her reasoning.

Allegedly, persons in the big cities or towns who have vacation properties fled the cities to their hideouts "to be safe". Unfortunately some were already infected and took the virus with them.

She needs a few other Governors to do it first cuz without them she can’t blame someone else.
There is a 0% chance I'd comply with that order.
So violation is a civil fine "of up to $1,000."

Are you getting a stimulus check? Seems like it'd nicely fund a civil fine savings account.

I'd be driving to my cabin with a middle finger out the window the entire way.

I tend to fall in the "take it seriously" side and choose to believe people generally want to do what's right and safe (versus this being some deep state coup) but this is just stupidity. You can drive across town to stand in a line at the grocery store, but can't drive alone to your own property??

[bleep] that.

Yep.
I think it might get interesting if they try to enforce that executive order...............what are they gonna do, set up roadblock checkpoints & start stopping all cars or randomly stopping cars on the roads?

Lots of back roads to get to most anywhere.......................

Agreed! I'm at the point in my life where I'd be willing to go to the morgue if some jackboot cop or national guardsman tried to stop me from visiting a second property owned by me. And I'd hate it for said person who tried to stop me, as he would likely be going to the morgue with me.

Are y'all ready?
You have to be a [bleep] moron to believe any of these preventative measures are doing anything.

That's what they're doing on North Carolina's outer banks - no backroads to the islands.

Lawsuits already filed:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/wset.c...ess-to-their-homes-want-borders-reopened
Just go ahead and visit your property. How would the cops know where you're going from and to? If you get stopped, say that you're going to the grocery store.

If I was a cop....wouldn't pull anybody over....

Put a bag of groceries in the front seat.....if you get pulled over just start coughing .....

There's no way its going to stop me from going to the farm that I lease 35 miles away and working on equipment, working ground and planting after last year total loss not getting any crops in.....

What about all the fisherman going to boat ramps launching there boats. They come from all over South eastern Michigan to fish the Detroit and St. Clair River.....

Haven't gone to a store since 3/10 and don't really need to....

I'am really pissed that I cannot go to my property in the UP....work needs to be done this time of the year ....mail box is full of junk mail....We never stop on the way up bring anything we need to eat and drink and have enough fuel stored there to make the trip back....

IIRC, but not 100% sure, I think it was banned there when it first was published.

MM
In NC the liquor stores have remained open. If I get stopped, I'm going to say I'm on my way HOME from the liquor store and have already chugged a 5th of bourbon - make the jackboot waste his time conducting field sobriety and breathalyzer tests on me. That will allow the rest of y'all to whizz on by and go turkey hunting on your property.

Wouldn’t you just be going “home”?
Order restricts TRAVEL between second or other homes, vacation property and rentals... but it also excluded that travel if for an essential job. Pretty sure for such as feeding cattle or live stock would be classed as an essential job.

The order added the restrictions for the very same reason you all were talking about last week.

Towns people traveling to rural property's they own to get away from high density areas, and bringing the virus with them.

Phil
Fortunately my north property has no structures on it so it is not a cottage or residence.
It is my own private park that I use for hiking (sometimes I might also be hunting).

Talking to friends and family - I wonder if 60% of the UP even knows about the quarantine...
Saw a facebook post from a woman in Curtis. She was running her mouth like people were bringing the bubonic plague with them.

I lived in The UP for eight years. Let’s just call some of those folks “different”. Under the best of circumstances they despise anyone who is not from the UP. I can’t even imagine what it’s like now.

I don't know about elitist, but cranky fu...k'n retires. I know of towns that would not allow an outsider in, let alone on a ATV.

Mostly the same - cliques all over I'm sure. Good people and the UP is VASTLY underrated for beauty when people talk about great places to see in the US.
They'd have to arrest me. I will be going back and forth between my two properties irrespective of any half-wits directive.
Just tell them you need to feed the refugees locked in your barn. Didn't the governor make it a sanctuary?

About the only time I experienced that was when my bil & I walked into a bar on Thanksgiving's day to watch the football game wearing lion's sweatshirts grin Generally speaking I've found them to be friendly and accommodating.
Ontario is as far left as Michigan—maybe further. The border is shut down no?
I know a guy from Wisconsin who owns a pretty nice cabin on pretty remote property. He came up last week with his wife—I talked to him on the phone. At the border he told me they took about a half hour to explain to him how he had to self-isolate. He cannot leave his property for 14 days—not for nothing. If he should need something it will have to be delivered and left outside his house—no interaction with anyone.
Point is they let him across.
Who’s gonna enforce this thing in the Yoop?
1/2 the Yoop is on snow machines and the other 1/2 on motorcycles right now. The Yoop in April - par for the course.
An applicable quote....."The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me."
The horse communities near Traverse have lost the ability to communicate with humans. They need to put a twitch on you before they can talk. Middle aged women on their horses have a single focus of control. They have lost the ability to discriminate between a human and horse.
All it would take is a couple of troopers at the bridge to tell folks to turn around. I don't think law enforcement, from what I've seen, has a taste for it.
I live in the UP, and I am not seeing the pushback that other parts of the country would be doing on this.

But I wonder what would happen if someone tried to pull this in Texas? I lived in south Texas for four years.

In Texas, I think civil war would happen within 48 hours. In 72 hours, the governor would be hanging upside down in the public square. Citizens would be lined up a mile long to get a selfie with the body. It would be a family event.

For me personally it would be a case of to hell with what they say..
I would go to my property when I damn well felt like it.
Am a resident of Michigan with a place up north. Will be journeying up there to hunt turkeys soon. I am allowed to buy groceries, just so happens I am going to the store near my cabin. [bleep] it
Wow what a Fascist Cûnt.

Not even in Kommiefornia are they trying that move.

I predict a quick change or reversal to the fact of yes you can go to your 2nd+ properties for maintenance, security and other "essential" activities.

As reported seems extremely unconstitutional unless Martial Law has been declared which it hasn't.

Michigan can shut down all hunting and fish activities though.
The copper ground cable was cut off our cottage. We have video surveillance of the entire camp. Most cottages have surveillance now.
Why not just tell any officer that stops you that you have no statement to make. The lock down has exceptions. I would say "here is my drivers license. Am I being detained?" We have a curfew in our parish of 10pm to 5am. If I need to get out and kill a few hogs, I'm going. But I'm not making any statements about my activities or intentions. This is just bull shet and they can haul me to jail if they wish.
Im predicting some kind of Bundy Type standoff in the Nation somewhere before this Corona Crap is all through.

Name, rank and serial number.

You gotta be REALLY bad these days to get arrested. They don’t want to mess with ya. Don’t blame them.

I think they are using this as an opportunity to see just how much power they can exert on us in a crisis for future reference. The next time it might just be one a Democrat Administration makes up out of thin air to get some knee jerk bill passed as "emergency legislation" to grab power permanently. They are probably kicking themselves that they haven't thought of it sooner.
Happening here in PA. People in the Poconos are fired up about NY/NJ residents coming there to their summer homes "bringing the bug with them from the city". Trout season opened here earlier than normal on Tuesday and already people in the northern tier of PA are bitching about "damned flatlanders" coming up to their camps for trout season.

"Stay The Hell Home" is the prevailing thought on the prospective invasion of camp owners. Read a post on a northern tier news site this week.about the surprise trout opener. Half the profanity-laced comments had to do with warning camp owners to stay home, or else.

Last week PA Troopers stopped a girl for driving, in violation of our Governor's stay at home decree. Yesterday the county DA refused to accept the citation and dismissed it. Now the (D) Gov is considering releasing "low risk" inmates from state prisons so they don't get the bug. WTF? Why were they in prison, if they're no threat to the public?

This virus is serious schitt, but some are mighty quick to abuse their positions of power.

Hmmm... Maybe the operative word there is "visit".... A 'visit' is a temporary stay - hours or maybe a day or two... Just drive there and LIVE there for a week or three... Yer not visiting, per se....

And place a yard sign out front that sez "F-YOU govy"....

You don't get to fugging dictate what others do with their private personal property.

If you want to then buy them out and or pay for their property taxes.

You permanent Residents sure do enjoy all the damn money those part timers pump into your little ecosystem though.

Now the (D) Gov is considering releasing "low risk" inmates from state prisons so they don't get the bug. WTF? Why were they in prison, if they're no threat to the public?

This virus is serious schitt, but some are mighty quick to abuse their positions of power.

From what I read this morning this is happening. 1500 or 1800 or around there are to be released. Bunch of BS
Shows where our Gov's priorities are. I can't go anyplace, but prisoners can leave a prison where the virus is already present, so they don't get infected? BS is right.

Someone show us where the government had previously ignored the Constitution, when tens of thousands of us were dying from seasonal flu over the years? And yeah, COViD 19 is not seasonal flu. However, there have been years when the flu killed 40 to 60 thousand Americans. Over a few decades the seasonal average was over 20 thousand annual flu deaths.
Some on here thought that it was a swell idea and anyone who opposed it is a Denier!

So far, hunting, fishing & outdoor recreation in general has not been banned so in your case, you're just going hunting...................doesn't really matter where.

This is the problem with the order................it's pretty contradictory.

Pretty quick like, I'm thinking they will resolve it by either banning all outdoor activities or by doing away with the mandate to not go to a 2nd residence.

Either way is not an acceptable resolution.

Michigan Medicine will not open field hospital due to curve 'significantly flattening'

Quote
Michigan Medicine will not open a field hospital as it was initially planned due to the curve "significantly flattening."

It continues to plan for a potential need, but there is no definite date on which the field hospital would open at this time.

"It appears from current COVID-19 cases and modeling that the curve is significantly flattening," a Michigan Medicine spokeswoman said.

Michigan Medicine is still in communication with state officials to coordinate and determine future need.

"Our ongoing focus is on our current capacity and readiness to serve patients in our existing hospital facilities."

There are really two different issues going on with this. The guys posting here that want to go turkey hunting or fishing at their remote Northern Michigan cabin are not posing a problem if they practice social distancing as related to stores, gas stations, etc. They are remote and will stay that way.

On the other hand, the Oakland County resident that wants to hang out at his 6000' "cabin" in TC or on Walloon or Torch while expecting his vacation lifestyle is a whole different issue. This person likes participating in a high density urban existence. This is not being remote and can be a health threat to the northern residents.

FWIW, motorized boats and PWC are now off limits. That's going to piss cold water on the walleye opener in 2-3 weeks.

You’d have a field day with them. It’d be funny to watch.
Should read what the order actually says. Basically it is directed toward people who own more than one home. It says pick one and stay there until this is over. Not going to your 2nd home on weekends and back to the city on Monday. Apparently fishing, hunting, camping etc., are still allowed on your property. I see nothing either way about public land.

And she didn't just pull this out of a hat. The idea came from citizens in rural communities where lots of second homes are located. These people didn't want people from large cities coming into their communities and bringing the virus with them. Odds are pretty good if the request came from small rural communities the people asking for this were conservatives. And personally I don't blame them.

Nothing new about this. In 1918 the stay at home orders were much stricter, and more strictly enforced. Local deputies set up road blocks at the city limits and turned people around who tried to come into their towns. Same at train stations where they wouldn't let people off trains in their communities.
How did the demotwat get elected? Did lots of conservatives stay at home on election day? Be Well, Rustyzipper.

You can no longer visit an alternate property as of midnight last night. The governor has determined that it is no longer my right to do so, even if you own it and pay taxes on it. That’s funny.
Not saying I agree or disagree BUT...folks up my way are calling the police on the downstaters and the police are passing out fines for violation.

Constitutional or not the medical systems in remote areas cannot handle a huge influx of tourists and their friends/relatives in the midst of a pandemic. It was the local jurisdictions that persuaded her to put that into law...
At first I was pissed to see the tourists return but after some thought I realized that I would do that exact same thing...governor be damned

I wouldn’t want to be downstate right now with my family that’s for sure
I thought Halfwit was gonna "FIX THE DAM ROADS" well the roads won't need to be fixed now because were all quarantined to our homes.
She talked about all the hospitals full to capacity....has anybody actually been in one to see? My cousin was in for possible stroke and his wife
could not even go in to see him!!

Maybe in Wayne/Oakland county. But basically nowhere else is the hospital to capacity
This conversation has raised a question in my mind, and please forgive me if it has been asked before - I have not seen it. Is it legal for the governor to issue an executive order that includes fines and punishment. As I remember from Civics classes (those things that used to be taught to make us better citizens) an executive order is issued to dictate how a law is to be implemented. It would have to be a legislative session to enact a law with specific punishment. I guess I am saying that all the executive orders, at both federal and state level, seem to have usurped the duty of the legislature. Please correct me if I am wrong.

The only place that hospitals are the least bit busy is in the Detroit Metro area.

I'm in west MI & they've laid personnel off in all the hospitals & they are dead azz empty...............my wife is an RN.

My son is a PA in a major hospital & his fiance is a doc in the same place in west Milwaukee area...................they are both on furlough, subject to on-call.

Hospitals are going broke for lack of routine (actual paying) business. No routine surgeries or anything else except accident or urgent care treatment going on. Fact, period.

We can't go visit our other property, can't plant a garden because we can't buy the seeds from the store, can't go fishing because we can't use motorboats.

While I can sympathize with your sentiments, I don't think they really hold up to logic. What do you do for a living?

The US has widely respected property rights. I'm sure you might feel differently if you invested a lot of money (including taxes, maintenance, and supporting the local businesses there) in a second home or a vacation property elsewhere, and someone told you to stay away.

I wonder if any of the Northern Michigan businesses and their employees would suffer if all that money from the wealthy down-stater's wasn't welcome in your community? I wonder what your communities tax resources would look like if all those rich people's multi-million dollar coast and lake properties disappeared?

I wonder if any one you know, or any of your kids might suffer the effects of that kind of thinking?

Hey, at least we also have our First Amendment rights...

Best wishes from down-state,

Stay happy and healthy!
Does she have a phat a.ss?
Yes, I am selfish, I worry about my family and friend. Those who complain about the request to stay home are the "me" people, all they care about is "me" I'll go where I want, screw anybody else, I don't care if I kill your grandmother, I only care about me, I don't care if your wife goes to the hospital for a week, I can go where ever I want, f#$K your kids, so they get sick, I'm enjoying my cabin. Screw the LEO who pulled me over, if he left me alone, he wouldn't be sick, it's me, I'm the only important person, Constitution says so, Ya, so enjoy your "me" life.
Now it's not like she's depriving them of shelter, I'm sure their home down state is much nicer than the Up North Cabin,
Well from what I read, she's on the short list for VP with Biden, and we all know if he gets elected, old Sleepy Joe ain't going to make it through 4 years (age and health), so maybe Michigan will get rid of her, but the Nation may have to call her Mrs. President.

Many of those who panic are fat, diabetic, smokers who made a lifetime of poor choices and now want everyone else to pay for their poor decisions. Who is it predominately killing? Those who demand that business owners and healthy worker give up all that they have earned in order to protect the slow aren't selfish? It's funny when the selfish point to the individual anomalies among those who have died, but lump business as a whole, totally ignoring the individual. "Business will bounce right back. Stronger than ever!" As a whole, possibly. But many individuals are being destroyed. Screw them. As long as I'm safe? Might check the mirror.

If you're allergic to peanuts, don't eat peanuts. Other are free to eat peanuts. Perhaps not around you, but eat they can. Sequester those who are high risk. No need to lock down the healthy. Studies are showing no correlation between areas that locked down, didn't lock down, locked down early, locked down later. The lock-downs came too late to be credited with flattening the curve, due to the incubation period.

I don't see many who are behaving as you described. The vast majority are taking precautions. Is it possible that there is a middle ground? Could rationality be an answer?

No here its the "Up North" people pissing and moaning because people rightfully so are heading to properties they own in more sparsely populated areas. My uncle with cancer headed North long before this lockdown. He would be DOA if he caught the virus. But my Uncle is less important than an Uncle that lives north of M-10. What these mouth breathers fail to understand is that delivery drivers go north every day from the evil "downstate" area. I guarantee theres a truck headed north right now from the hottest of spots in Detroit getting ready to drop groceries/beer/pop/whatever. There isnt $hit for warehousing/food distribution north of M-57. I'm in restaurant supply and we send multiple trucks north every day 7 days a week. i was all over the place around Houghton lake yesterday and now i'm back home at my Corona palace downstate. Nearly EVERYTHING for sale up there came from down here. Your out of your mind if you think if myself and my wife weren't considered essential (I even have a card and a legal letter to prove it HAHA) I wouldn't be headed north.
