For the money...and try and remember....I am broke AF.......Evan Williams green label is the best cheap whiskey you can drink.

Its almost half again as cheap as the other cheapies I drink. Wild Turkey and Old Granddad.

I like a splash ditch.

Its a glass full of whiskey with just a splash of water. Couple ice cubes if your wife is watching and thinks you should go to rehab.......

Try it.

Its the weekend anyway.
Posted By: slumlord Re: Evan Williams - 06/09/20
It’s your house, why use a glass? grin
Posted By: Jim_Conrad Re: Evan Williams - 06/09/20
They look at me funny if I dont!

Especially if I am sitting in the dumpster chair next to my blood pressure medicine.....
Posted By: EthanEdwards Re: Evan Williams - 06/09/20
That is some rank shixt. It don't compare to Wild Turkey. I'd as soon drink freakin' Ten High as drink Even Williams. You'll be sorry the next day unless you water that shixt down. Buy some Old Crow if you're that broke.
Posted By: BuckHaggard Re: Evan Williams - 06/09/20
Nothing wrong with Evan Williams. Legit.

I expect if you're used to drinkin' horse piss. Always Indoors and ScroatumSpecialist both say Evan Williams is almost as good as the piss sucked out of a horse's dong.
Posted By: Jim_Conrad Re: Evan Williams - 06/09/20
No, Ten High aint no fuggin good.

Old Crow....yeah. Me and an old man used to drink that.

Not bad.

By god....for the money............this green label is okay.
Posted By: Morewood Re: Evan Williams - 06/09/20
I like Evan Williams. Didn't know they had a green label variety. I've only seen the black label.

Ten High will make you go blind.
Posted By: Jim_Conrad Re: Evan Williams - 06/09/20
Hahaha!

I used to drink 10 too.

I think standards have fallen......
Posted By: Valsdad Re: Evan Williams - 06/09/20
Is Early Times still around?

Big ol' bottles with a handle on 'em?

That was some good stuff.

Not as good as the private label down at the grocery chain store. But that was hit or miss depending on who's whiskey was being bottled.
Posted By: Jim_Conrad Re: Evan Williams - 06/09/20
Yes sir!

Early Times is still available.......to the Indians.
Posted By: MadMooner Re: Evan Williams - 06/09/20
EW don’t hurt my feelings at all.
Ditch splash, bourbon and branch....whatever ya call it is a fine elixir.

Currently into some cheap gin. Amsterdam I believe. Been laid off for near 3 months!
Posted By: slumlord Re: Evan Williams - 06/09/20
Early Times, that’s mailbox smashin liquor
Posted By: Certifiable Re: Evan Williams - 06/09/20
Around these parts a 1.75 of Jim Beam is 16.99 at Costco. It’s my go not just because of price but also I just find it perfectly drinkable.. there may be some other decent cheap ones out there like your EW Conrad, but I just can’t seem to stray..
If there’s a cheaper one you like go for it
Basil Hayden’s when I splurge and it’s 32 bucks a 750.

I only buy booze at Costco cause it makes no sense to buy it elsewhere else

EZRA BROOKS. Nuf said. Thank me later.

Take care, Willie

Had a friend who's dad was a SERIOUS Early Times drinker. Whenever we teenagers needed a drinkie poo, we'd just look around the shop at his business. There were bottles everywhere. His name was Earl too.

Costco labeled booze is usually a sore dick deal.

Scotch, tequila, you name it.

But I drink cheap beer too, Like Busch Light and Miller High life Light. with a few Shiners thrown in for good measure.

My cheap is Jim Beam. When there is occasion it is Beam Black. Tonight it is Gordons white...

I would sooner drink Savon Vodka out of the plastic bottle than that Evan Williams piss.

Cheap London style gin, i.e., think martinis...
Posted By: kevinJ Re: Evan Williams - 06/09/20
There was a time in my life I drank Evan Williams green label as my go to.

The label is green because that’s the color your face will be after drinking it!

Honestly it’s not terrible, but definitely not “good”bourbon. There are a lot of bourbons with age statements and way better for under 30$ a 750ml. I do think it’s hard to beat under 20$ though as it’s aged 4 years vs most at that price point only 2. I buy it for bourbon mixed drinks from time to time

First thing you gotta figure out is if you like a wheated or rye bourbon the best, then you can find the diamonds in the rough( subjective of course).
Posted By: mathman Re: Evan Williams - 06/09/20
Yeah, I've heard of Canadian whiskey. We've got a few Crown Royal drinkers around here, not that they would know whiskey from Gulf Lite.

You all oughta see the retirees filling up shopping carts with schitt loads of "miltary special" brand liquors at the class 6 at the end of the month.

Mostly bulbous nose red flushed face types in full blown alcohlic appearance mode. To lump em in a catch all sterotype.....

Stuff is like 12 to 15 bucks a plastic half gallon.

Literally a shopping cart full of booze.
Sometimes the bottom rack of the cart and cart botton itself palletized with beer and the half gallons like ducks in a row stacked on top.

Then the other catagory is old korean dependant spouse types filling up shopping carts to sell at their cheap dive bars some joes go to cause they cant swing american chicks.

Kinda sad actually...

Dad taught me at a very young age, drink the good stuff, you'll appreciate it the next morning. Even when I was 20 and everyone was drinking $1 well drinks, I'd order the good stuff.

Dad was right.

Has Jim ever explained the water quality of the highline water ? That is no doubt a factor when selecting what you drink.

Maybe Birdwatcher can ring in on this.
Posted By: Henryseale Re: Evan Williams - 06/09/20
A while back someone here strongly touted how wonderful Evan Williams 100 proof bottled in bond was. It was supposed to be a real mostly unknown treasure of a great bourbon sold at a bargain price. I found a 1.75 litre of it at my favorite liquor store and thought I would give it a try. Not bad, but sure ain't worth buying again. I will eventually drink it all, but I'm in no hurry at all. Give me Buffalo Trace, Bulliet, Jim Beam, Weller, Basil Heyden, Old Forester, etc., etc., any day over that stuff.
Posted By: Stormin_Norman Re: Evan Williams - 06/09/20
