How many rimfire rifles have you shot and thought, "this is a quality piece of equipment"? You may get that with the new Vudoo's and other upper echelon manufactures, but this thing is 72 years old!!!. Which one would you keep, if you sold all the rest?
My grandfather's Stevens Crackshot
[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]
I have a Remington 511-x I got in payment for chopping corn out of bean fields in 1972. (I was 12) Just refinished it for the 4th (maybe 5th) time.
Marlin 15Y.

I taught my kids safe firearm handling, and how to hit, with only one shot.

And my first ever rifle. Browning BL22

And my dads Savage click-clack semiautomatic.

And my Uncle’s Winchester 1906.

I do have some I will sell someday, but not these.
Man this is gonna be a tough one...
Not sure I have one, except maybe the 581 I got for Christmas in 1967, not that it’s any wonder-rifle, and certainly not because of its value.

I have a few other nice ones, but with no sentimental value as yet. Tomorrow, a nice older 39A is supposed to land at my FFL. Maybe it’ll be the one.
Savage Rascal. I'd take it over my Anschutz 54, 10-22 rifles, AR-conversion, Charger, and pistols. And I like all those others a bunch, and plus some others. I like how light, compact, and simple the Rascal is. We shoot CB Long, Colibri, CCI Quiet, and occasionally standard and high velocity ammo. For what it is, it's extremely accurate with just peep sight.

I know that I am probably in the minority, and actually value accurate/precise rifles as well as family "heirlooms", but I'm a sucker for the simplicity and need to judge holdover when shooting those slow rounds. I've had more fun with that Rascal, especially with my kids, than all my other firearms combined. And no hearing protection, with the quieter loads.
i'd never part with my Springfield 1922 M2 custom sporter.
Smith and Wesson Model 34 with square butt and 4 inch barrel. Even have a Tyler T grip on it. Anshutz 22 mag model 1720 shoots great. Have kept a Winchester 190 my whole life as it was the second gun I ever bought. The 190 is fun to shoot but not that Accurate. I also have a Weatherby 22 auto loader with tube magazine. It shoots great and hard to find with the tube magazine. So 4 I would hate to sell.
my H&K's--270 and 300
I also keep my 1922 custom shorter. has all the bells and stuff. walnut to die for and heck I had it built , it is mine and never leaving!
I have about a dozen 22 rifles & like them all for various reasons. But the one I'd have to keep probably has the least personality, & no nostalgia. A Ruger 77/22. It's my workhorse. Stainless synthetic with sights & rings. A 2-7 Weaver rounds it out.
Awfully hard to say. Probably my Ballard with Stevens-Pope barrel for shear pizazz, or my 1950-vintage BSA International for shear utter accuracy. The as-issued M2 is another one whose whimpering would give me pause if I passed on it.

None of the current crop of .22's so much as turn my eye, especially the plastic ones. I really don't care how well they shoot - they lack soul.

Plain old 1968 vintage Ruger 10/22 carbine, that's when they came with a walnut stock and metal buttplate and trigger group. It was my companion through high school, college and beyond and still wears the same Williams Foolproof peep sight I first put on it some 53 years ago. It doesn't get shot nearly as much as it used to but it and my Remington 1100 shotgun will be with me until the day my journey here ends.

[Linked Image]
My 541-S bought in the late ‘70’s
Winchester Model 52A purchased new by my Grandfather in the 1935 timeframe I believe. That one stays.
I have two one is a 1941 Marlin 39A and my Marlin 922m
My first rifle, CZ 452 Varmint in 17HMR.

My Cooper 17 HMR will stay with me forever.

It's a Super American with a fluted stainless barrel, and a Leupold 3.5X10 A. O. scope.

It's the finest rifle I've ever owned, and will go to my Daughter when I pass on.

gnoahhh don't need no stinkin' Voodu!

Beautiful Ballard, very impressive rifle and shooting.
Of my five rimfires, I like my Ruger 77/22 RSI the best. It has a grown up action, weight, adjusted trigger pull and operating system. I’ve paired mine with a Leupold 3-9x33 A/O rimfire scope and it is set up perfectly for how I use a rimfire.

A Remington 581 in left hand..... walked into a local gun shop and there it was in the used rack. A few marks on
on the stock from storage yet one would think unfired.

My last "Want" in 22 rimfire is a Winchester 94/22 Classic.

Win 69 A.
BL-22 I got for graduation instead of a class ring.
Sav-Anschutz 141 bought new in '66. First firearm. Killed more critters than any other rifle I own(ed). Still goes to dairy farms for pigeon control. Plus red squirrels on the feeder. Plus eieio......

Dumbarse kid cleaned the heck out of it from day one with multi-piece rods even. Against Dieter Anschutz' advice to the contrary. Still does 3/8" to 3/4" for 5 at 50 w/CCI SV or sub-hps.

Has a Leup VX2 3-9 EFR on it. So far no rattling.
Winchester 1885 low wall in 17hmr.
My Springfield Jr. single shot I inherited from my Grandpa. I would have a hard time getting rid of my Winchester 9422 and Marlin 39.
Have several nice ones but the last to leave would be a Colt Officer Model made in 1937. 90-95% Reason being I have a matching one in 38 sp. 1937. 90% Thought I really had something then found out they came in 32 cal too. What are the odds I find one pristine made in 37?
Kimber 82
My 617 10 shot, 4” barrel.
I have a Ruger bearcat , I learned to shoot with and I inherited it from my dad , it's been in our family since it was new and it has a 3 digit serial number
Customized Stainless Ruger 77/22, Green Mountain fluted barrel, walnut stock, glass bedded, trigger light and crisp.

A Cooper 57. I splurged and had it stocked with a piece of Walnut my Grandfather and Uncle had cut off our farm in KY. It had been in the barn loft since about 1970 and was of a size that if I'd resawed and planed it I'd been left with about enough to make a box so a rifle stock seemed a good idea. My Grandfather would have approved.

Also had a bunch of nice add-ons done and it turned out well. Shoots just like you'd expect a Cooper with one hole groups at 50 yards using the SK rifle match.

That’s pretty cool pugs

One I won't sell is my first gun, a very, very used Winchester 1906. Some of the roll pins are a bit bunged up so taking it apart and reassembling it is harder than it should be but I've put over 100K rounds through it since I was about 10 and it was pretty well used when I got it. It just keeps shooting. CCI mini-mag HPs or Stingers ... 1/3 of an inch at 25 yards with the crude factory iron sights ... things in front of it just die. It is silly fun with CB longs, too. It is not a target gun, it is simply the bringer of death.

Sav-Anschutz 141M, Christmas gift from my mother, Christmas 1965. It has killed everything from red squirrels to deer. Currently wears a 3-9 Leupold EFR and still shoots an inch at 100 with Winchester and CCI 40 grain HP, a little better with 30 grain plastic tipped, a little worse with some stuff.
My 10-22, it has always done what I need a 22 to do.
My Mohawk brown Nylon 66. First gun my dad every gave me. Stupid thing just keeps on going, shoots okay but it still makes me smile every time I bring it out.

Rossi model 62 takedown. Got it for Christmas back in the late 70's. Was something my parents really could not afford at the time so it was a pretty special gift. Many a round pumped through it.
I have an old beat up and then reconditioned Winchester 9422 that would be hard to leave behind.

Had a friend ceracoat it, then sanded the wood and painted it black. The finish is matt, still shows some pitting, wood still shows a few dings.

[Linked Image]

None of mine.
My old Winchester 75. Can't find the best ammo because it shoots everything so well.
[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]
My, some beauties here. Bitter cling, forever!

I got a Browning 52 sporter from my Dad. I hot-rodded the trigger for him and it was, and still is, a killer. Has a few dings, but man, so nice. It will only go after I do.
Tough choice. I would keep my 1960’s vintage Remington 511-X purchased with money I earned hoeing the weeds out of a cotton field, “chopping cotton”.
I have a Ruger 22/45 I don't much care for. Other than that, I'd be hard pressed to sell any of my .22's.

I don't have any pictures of them but the first is a Remington Model 541T with a Burris 3-9x33 Compact scope and the second is a blued Ruger MK II Government Model.
My first rifle was a Marlin 60 which I received on my 5th birthday. My father is not an affectionate man, and it is the only gift that I know of (besides, strangely, Halo) that he got just for me on his own. Great shooter that is never going anywhere.
mossberg 144ls that my father taught me the finer shooting
Mine would be my Dakota 22. It was the 22 I always wanted and it won’t ever leave. Squirrel hunting with it and a Feedom Arms 97 22 is hard to beat!

I can’t blame you there. Those are two of the finest you can get.
This old Winchester 67. It was my Dad’s and I learned to shoot with it. Lots of squirrels, rabbits and grouse. A fair number of woodchucks and dispatched many trapped coon, fox and coyote.

[Linked Image from photos.smugmug.com]
I've got too many to pick from, but probably a synthetic stocked 16.25" suppressor-ready CZ 455, which seems to shoot most everything really well and handles pretty good. I've got a Leupold 3-9 rimfire scope on it, and it makes me smile every time I shoot it.
Stainless Single Six "star gun" that I bought new in 1976 weeks after enlisting in the Marines (delayed entry, lol. I could not speak or eat without permission after arriving at Parris Island).

Lots of great shooting and hunting memories wrapped up in that little revolver, over the past 45 years.

The pawl broke at about 35,000 rounds, sometime in the 90s. Other than that it has been perfect!
Winchester Model 47 Target and S&W Model 18
New to me but my CZ455 is now on that list along with my Winchester 67 Boys rifle.
Remington Model 33 that was my father's. The only .22 he ever owned, which passed to me upon his death. It's destined for my oldest son, his first grandson, when I go.

I’d say that’s not bad at all (especially the Fiochi)!!

Marlin Mdl 60
I have two. An early Cooper 57M Classic with a 6X36LR in super low rings, and a 1954 39A with similar vintage Lyman 56MC and sourdough front. My eyes aren’t good enough anymore to really make the 39A shoot, but I will never have it drilled and tapped for scope, wouldn’t be right! grin

OK, three. It doesn’t have the same emotional attachment as the first two, but my silhouette rifle is a forever rifle. A Holeshot Arms RBLP 2500X with Bix n’Andy 2-stage Tacsport trigger and 2-groove Benchmark in a Wooster stock with 25X Leupold on top. There’s no “up” from it.
My dad's S&W K-22 5-screw revolver I inherited.
I have my share of 22s, but If I had to pick one to keep, it would be my Winchester 320.
I'd likely keep my Rem 541 w/ sporter weight barrel over the others I currently have...
Handgun - Ruger MK-II slab-side. 2nd choice would be the Ruger SR22.
Rife: Rem M541T. 2nd choice would be (hunting/varmint) Savage MK-II blue/laminated or (SHTF ) Ruger 10-22.

Never thought I'd ever own a Savage, but this little MK-II is incredibly accurate and fun to shoot..
Have 50+ rimfire and couldn’t think of parting with any of them.
Browning Belgium made sa-22 1968 vintage I think
A High Standard Sentinel that was the first gun I ever shot
None of mine. Nope not even one. Wife/children can deal with them when I've crossed the big river.

I have the single shot version of your 320, the Win 310. They are sweet rifles.
My very first gun that my parents gave me on my 8th birthday, a Remington 580. Got several others I love, but that one is going to a loved friend or family member when I die.
My uncle's m62 Winchester he bought in the 30s by selling pulpwood he cut with a two man saw.
Japan made Winchester Mod 52 heavy barrel made for Zander Sporting Goods

🦫
My old Anschutz 54 Sporter. I have a Anschutz 1710HB that will slightly outshoot it, but the 54 was purchased new by my father in the 70's so there's sentimental value as well.
Either of my Remington 5mm Magnums.

The 591M is ~98% with a period Redfield Widefield Low-Profile 3-9

The 592M wears a 4.5-14 Burris Fullfield II and is no a beauty queen. But it shoots the first run Centurion ammo exceptionally well. I've notched 'chucks way out there with it and know it'll go farther. Personal best, to date, is 280 yards.
Another keeper is a flat gate Ruger Single Six my son gifted me at Christmas. He had gotten it from a friend, the original factory grips were broken beyond repair. I fit these ebony grips, installed Ruger medallions and had it checkered. Guns like that aren't trading inventory. Besides it's very accurate, trigger is really good.

I'm embarrassed to say that I have one of these and I have never shot it. I ran across one at a local gun store, great condition, only one little safe ding. I think I paid 640 for it, thought it was a fair deal and took it home.

Never thought I'd ever own a Savage, but this little MK-II is incredibly accurate and fun to shoot..

While my 1949 model 52 takes the cake for "fun to shoot" because you get a sense of extraordinary quality, my Savage MKI FVT single shot takes a close second. I'll admit, I think the savage is every bit as accurate as the old winchester. One of the reasons I recently bought a MKII FVT target rifle. I've been cleaning up with the single shot at my clubs know your limits shoots with the single shot savage. The rifle is a shooter. With the right ammo, it will drive tacks. At 50 yards, those 1/4" targets don't seem so hard to hit with the savage. We've had guys from other clubs join in the fun and those guys are using souped up rifles that are known for exceptional accuracy, but none of them shoot on par with the Savage. I'm hoping my new Savage shoots as well as the single shot MKI:

[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]

I'll drop it into a laminated stock, like I did with the MKI pictured above^^^^^
All I have I would hate to part with the 2 52s are amazing but they would go before the Ruger boat paddle. And probbly the bearcat. My kids all learned to shoot wit those and now the grand kids are comming up on themp
My VUDOO, don’t think I have ever enjoyed a gun this much! Everything else seems to stay in the safe now.
My Freedom Arms model 97. 5/-1/2 inch barrel.
Marlin model 97 Cowboy with octagon barrel, buckhorn sights.....purchased it new through a good friend that owned a sporting goods store.....he let me order anything at his cost due to our friendship......he passed from Pacreatic Cancer, was a good man, miss his laughter.

Frog----out!
I enjoy my .22s more than any other arms that I own. Choosing just one would be difficult and painful. I such a choice had to be made, I guess I would keep a James Anderson custom 22 made from a Brno Model 1.

Holy crap!
My old made in Belgium Browning T-Bolt and my old S&W J Frame .22 Kit Gun that often lives in my back pack. Both are blued steel with walnut, they are beautiful and shoot better then I can.
An Anschutz 1415 my wife bought for me right after we got married while stationed in Germany.
A 1973 Ruger Single Six Convertible my father in law gave me.
I might need to hang on to this Cooper for a while

Used to squirrel hunt w that (Dad's) .22 back when I was in college
There's a lot of very nice rimfire's here. Thanks to everyone that has shared with stories and pictures. I'm still holding strong to keeping the one I mentioned in the op, but there's also one that I forgot to mention, since others have mentioned rifles with sentimental value. I have to bring up my dads Mossberg chuckster 22 WMR. While it looks new, my dad did his best to wear this rifle out when he was a kid. I'm serious. I had to replace a lot of parts on this rifle, from extractor, ejector, trigger, various springs and I also upgraded the iron sights. Its a cool little rifle and I actually used it in my clubs rimfire matches back before I bought my model 52 and the savage target rifles I have now:

[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]
[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]

One target that I will never forget is one I shot with that rifle. Not because it was a "possible", but because it was a stupid mistake on my part. I fired off the first shot and it was high and to the right, so I made an adjustment with the sights and then just fired off 9 more shots without looking through the spotter:
[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]

It was during a rimfire match my club was putting on about 5 years ago. It was a good learning experience for me. That rifle will put them all in the 10 ring, if I don't screw it up... Its a great shooting old 22 magnum that I will keep for the rest of my life.
I have 2 I'll never part with. The first is a Winchester 9422 that my Dad bought brand new back in 1976 and handed down to me a few years ago. It is still in beautiful shape, works smooth as butter, and is very accurate with 40 grainers.

The other is an old Savage/Stevens single shot bolt I inherited from my Grandpa. It is not a great shooter and is nothing to look at. It's in the white with a stock that may or may not actually be pine (whatever it is is very soft wood with almost no grain), but it was purchased by my great grandpa during the depression for pot hunting, so it will continue to stay in the family.
My favorite shooter would be the CZ-455 Thumbhole Laminate fluted barrel model. But for sheer sentimental value it's the Model 67 Winchester my dad got in the latter 1930's. Still in great shape and as accurate as I could ever shoot with old eyes & iron sights. Dad brought home a lot of small game before WW2 when money was still tight and my grandmother used lots of small game meat like rabbit, in things like stew because beef was a little above their budget limit back then.
A .22 handgun that I'd never get rid of is my Sig Sauer P226 with .22 RF conversion. A robust gun that's fun to shoot, accurate too !
My 1965 Remington 512X. Christmas gift from my dad. Has a Ted Williams 4X scope and a stock that I refinished back in 1969 with the Herters STock refinishing kit. Beautiful and a great shooter. My first gun!

My M320 Winchester, made by Omark Australia in the early 70s. Or as my hunting bud called it, the "Near Kimber". Got lucky about 20 years ago and found a NIB spare mag at a gun show.

Had a chance to acquire the single shot version M310 years ago, but by then the price had shot up to several hundred dollars and passed. Mine cost $60, new. All these years later, it still love Mini Mags.
My Win 62A, and my Colt Woodsman and Huntsman. No maybe my Ruger Mark 1 bull bbl. But then there's my Win 94/22, there's others so not sure.

I'll have to get back to you, need some thinking time.

My Rem 24. Shoots the hell out of my wizz-bang bell-ringing arcade target.
I have a couple .22’s, but the one I wouldn’t be able to sell would be the CZ 452 my wife got me as my wedding present.
An Oregon Kimber in the low 600 range and my Pre Woodsman. The rest ain't going anywhere either but these are the top two.
My current Browning BL-22 grade II. It is dead accurate, light and smooth action.
I bought a used Kimber K-22 about 5yrs ago, nice looking and shoots way better. Also a blued Ruger MkII Slabside I found NIB and bought about 12yrs ago. Those would be hardest for me to sell, but no sentimental value to either so there is a price!
1947 Marlin 39 a and a Remington Nylon 11

couple mid 70's Marlin Mountie 39s are on that list

How many rimfire rifles have you shot and thought, "this is a quality piece of equipment"? You may get that with the new Vudoo's and other upper echelon manufactures, but this thing is 72 years old!!!. Which one would you keep, if you sold all the rest?

Very nice!!!
It's 2 actually and I don't have either one in my possession currently...dad still does. The Marlin model 99 that dad taught myself and my siblings how to shoot with. And the little Remington that we would take trapping each fall to dispatch raccoon's with. Both are still in the gun cabinet at my folk's farm. There will be a day but I hope it is a ways off yet...
My Savage 6A with the factory aperture sight. Absolutely SUPERB with CCI standard velocity, Aguila super extra 40s and Eley Contact.
Handgun? Only have one, a 1960 Ruger MK1. Happily, it likes the same ammo as the Savage!
