Gents, I am going to purchase a 7mm08Remington soon.
What are you blokes using? Pictures please
I don't know how to post my pics here(I'm pretty new) but I have 2 rifles in 7mm-08, my personal favorite caliber. One is a 1988 Remington 700 mountain rifle and the other is a 1994 Winchester 70 featherweight classic. Both wear Leupold vx2 3x9's.
Same rifle as above with a different sack of pork chops..
Kimber Montana-
Winchester 70 Carbine
Skinny barreled 7-08’s are my favorites.
Kimber Montana. 6x on top. 162 AMax in Lapua brass.
Second from the bottom
most unique names
My favorite rifle:
Kimber Montana with 2.5x8
Remington 788 Carbine, now wears a 6x42 Leupold. Shoots 140gr Fusion handloads at 2,700.
Remington 660, rebarreled with a 7mm-08 SS 700 barrel at 20". No longer wears a ammo carrier. Now scoped with a Leupold 2.5-8. Shoots factory 139gr Interlock loads.
Remington 700 SS, cut to 20". Wears a Leupold 3-9x40 with LRD. Shoots 120TTSX.
How do you guys like those 2.5x8's?
I'd love to go lighter than my 6x SuperChicken but loath to give up the reliability.
Skinny barreled 7-08’s are my favorites.
I assume the tape on the muzzle is to keep out dirt or snow. What is the purpose of the tape just forward of the forearm? Thanks
How do you guys like those 2.5x8's?
I like it on a compact rig, but find the 3.5-10 version a touch easier to get behind. Both of those scopes, along with the later VX-II and VX-2 3-9x40 are easy for my eyes to work with. The 3-series glass seems a hair better.

Replace the tape at the end after you shoot.
Dang good looking 7-08 fellas. I’ve got a Tikka Compact 7-08 but I’m always on the lookout for a Montana or M70 Featherweight.
The Compact is my daughters but she’s kind enough to let me use it now and again!
7mm-08s are for sissies.

Nice rifle, If i had to guess on the bases they look like Talley's. Go to their website and verify. You'll need their vertical split rings. I don't think you'll need their quick attach rings since you have no iron sights unless you want to sight in two scopes.
I've never used them but they are an eloquent scope mounting system. Lot's of custom rifles use them

One of my favorite rifles on the fire. Love the contrast of the fiberglass stock with the bluing. Well done.

Thanks again!

I need to acquire a Kimber Montana 7mm-08 - Kevin dig yours!
But then I'd have to leave my Kimber 308 home......

Some beautiful rifles here lads. Thank you for sharing these with me.
I ended up purchasing a Haenel Jaeger Basic 10 (blind mag version) in 308Win (no 7mm08 option). Once I shouldered it I fell in love with the feel and price(laughing). Amazing bit of kit for the loot$.
A couple more 7mm-08's in the family:
My son's LVFS w/TI stock.
Daughter's M-7 CDL: (kind of hard to see, but you get the point)
Not a big deer but at least I had to walk to the top of our mountain to shoot it.
Kimber 84M. I got one of the accurate ones in the Kimber crapshoot.
Trick photography folks......move along.

Love the paint scheme on that stock.
The boy’s 700, milled follower, Timney, Mickey hunters edge, Zeiss conquest 3-9x. 140gr sgk’s over RL15 shoot tiny groups and kill everything he points it at. 4 Wt’s and a black bear.
8” hawk hill waiting to be spun on it now. Need to send it to Shaen just been busy.
NULA 7mm-08..........
My favorite photo on this thread... great!
Went thru LVSF, Custom shop MS and this one......never fell in love......
This is a campfire parts gun. I had the barrel cut back to 16” to run suppressed and suck it in a Ti takeoff “for the kids”.
Oldest used it for her first elk this fall.

Just picked that up last week Cooper Western Classic 7mm-08 with exhibition grade Turkish walnut stock
They weren't kidding, calling that "exhibition grade", for sure it's that.
Thanks for sharing. Bet it shoots as good as it looks. Coopers usually do, although their factory targets are not shot at 100 yds, they shoot well at a hundred, IME.

Rem 700 put-together with 700 Ti barrel OD Cerakote and 1st Gen Ti stock. Just bought off the classifieds. Waiting for Talley Lightweights and will wear a VX2 3-9x40 tactical.
Rem 700 Gander? 700 with factory Mtn Rifle barrel and 1st Gen Ti stock. Wearing a VX3 2.5-8 with M1 elevation. 2nd Pic - hunting weight with sling and 4 rounds.
Threw the Fieldcraft 7mm-08 in there for grins. Fencepost pic with Zeiss scope and Talley's I replaced with a Nightforce and pic rail and 3 shot 100 yd factory Federal 140 partition target below (it was very windy).
"Rem 700 Gander? 700 with factory Mtn Rifle barrel and 1st Gen Ti stock. "
Pretty sure the Mnt Guides had the TI barrel contour which was smaller than the standard Mnt rifle contour, at least on the few I measured.
One more.......

That next one begins - I'm sure it will be the bestest one yet
I love 7-08’s. I can’t decide if I want one with nice lumber or a ultra light rifle.
I love 7-08’s. I can’t decide if I want one with nice lumber or a ultra light rifle.
Obviously, you need both. One with some sweet walnut that you can admire while sitting in a tree stand on a beautiful fall day and one for the test of the time.
That next one begins - I'm sure it will be the bestest one yet
Looking good Frank!!
I had a 7mm-08 as my first deer rifle. Unfortunately, I was at the age where it was bought for me by my dad, who also chose to sell it soon after.
I eventually replaced it with the same rifle, but in a 270. I’ll have at least 1 more 7-08 soon. Best short action caliber ever made for deer.
I posted a couple of pics of my 7mm/08 on page 2, anyway, here's another one.
Here is my last deer I shot with a 7-08. 120 TTSX

The new one should be coming home soon, just needs to be coated and then ready to break in and go hunting
Finally got her set up! Just need to get some rounds loaded.... hopefully by next week!

I’d need to have someone perform an exorcism if any part of that pig were in my freezer. Probably will have nightmares of it living in my closet tonight.
Bringing this back up, as I'm about too ship one off to Shaen to rebarrel
Awesome I hope you post a few pictures when you get it back.
That's a great looking rifle, JGRaider. What are the particulars?
Well, reckon I can suss out the caliber, and I think its a Remington, but otherwise? Haha
That's actually a McWhorter built on a 700 action. It's a really fine, accurate rifle that shoots lots of different bullets very well.
Bobby Hart built 700, blueprinted action, 23" Hart barrel with Rem Sporter contour. Timney 510, 3-9x40 Conquest with elevation turret in Talley LW rings. McM Hunter's Edge, olive with black specks. It loves the 120 NBT and 140 Sierra HPBT. Have killed deer with both..
Here's a link on 7-08 loads. I like BG with 210 Fed.
