I am really surprised over and over again how well she shoots
Well, hell...a Rem 76000 OUGHT to shoot well!
At least 10-X better than a 7600
And the 760 AIN'T even in its league..
I had one in Kodiak and it was indeed a fantastic shooter. I always wanted a stainless one in a "Guide Gun" configuration. Would have been the ultimate fast action, close quarters medicine for coastal browns.
Why? Most of them shoot like that. Regardless of the caliber.

People who have never owned or used one claim that the Remington pump guns are not as accurate as their bolt guns.
And the people who own and shoot them just chuckle at those statements.
I acquired the smaller brother of the 76000, the Rem 7600 in 35 Whelen.
It was my #1 Deer Killer for over a decade. The Whelenizer is the SCHIZZ.
My EX was lightning with a pump action, she shot one for skeet and trap doubles. Unless you were paying attention you couldn't see her work the action she was so fast and accurate. I bought her a 760 in 270 to replace her Rem 700. It was very accurate, rivalling some of my best varmint rifles.
Since then I picked up a 760 in 35 Rem that I leave at my BinL's incase I decide to fly back home for a deer hunt.
My 7600 is a great one as well. Just a hammer for me.
My 7600 in .30-06 also groups quite well. Top group is 165 Game Kings...bottom is LC 168 grain match.

That is true, on a general basis. That said I did not expect .85" at 100 yards from the 200 TSX and certainly not .54" from the TTSX!

I know...I fixed it. Sausage fingers on a small phone!

Yep.
I have an old 760 that I think would be a dandy in 9.3x62 with a ghost ring set up.
The trigger needs mucho help though.
Who is the go to trigger guy on 760/7600's? I think a name was recommended here some years back?
How is your dental work holding up to the recoil of that thing? What's weight with a scope...5 pounds! ?

They’re not bad at all.
I love my Carbine. It too loves the 200gr TTSX. I need to start loading for it.
Weighs 6-1/2lbs bare.
Not as loud as I thought it would be. However there’s a small fireball when touched off.
Nah. The only profession with more halfasses hanging a shingle might be real estate. I’d rather send it out to a known commodity.
Anyway, nice shooting, Fotis!

Perhaps the name was Timney.
Timney sells a kit to improve 870/7400/7600 triggers.
I've owned 3 over the years. All were good shooters.
Mine shoots well enough (11/2”) with 225 Sierra Game Kings at 2725fps. It’s a real deer hammer. It did take a while to appreciate that pressure on the forearm impacted accuracy....

I'm shocked......
I may have to put away the .35 rem carbine this year and let its big brother out to play.
George
The guy behind the bang switch knows what he's doing to I reckon
My 7600 is a great one as well. Just a hammer for me.
Yep. And the couple in 35 Whelen that I've owned were a hammer ON me too.
Rem 7600 35 Whelen with a bull I shot years ago. 250 GR Speer
Great picture.
It's too bad Remington could never figure out how to put a recoil pad on a walnut stocked 760 or 7600.

Mine has the plastic butt plate so I use the PAST recoil shield for any range work. I’m not sure I’d wanna go toe to toe with it on the range without it.
I load 225’s around 2675 and can’t find the need to ask for more. Ha!

what is your load?
My Whelen is a rebored pre'64 M/70, for years 225gr. Sierra Game Kings were my go to whitetail load. Years of late I have gone to 200gr. Hornady Inter-lok RN over IMR 3031, accuracy is outstanding and performance on game is too. 100 yd. 3 shot groups are often cloverleafs, heading to the range this morning prior to leaving for KY deer hunt next week.
I have been looking for a decent Rem 7600 in .308 or .35 Whelen the last few years. I have seen an old beat up one in .30-06 that is more than a new one ever was, and then saw a decent one in 35 Rem this weekend at a gun show. Outside of that, those rifles just don't seem that popular here in SC AK.
35 Rem would be sweet!
Looking at a couple older threads, Nathan Chesney and Gary Sullivan came up as two that folks had sent the trigger group off to for work and were very pleased.
I wonder if a Burris Speed Bead would fit on a 7600/760 with a Fast Fire?
I once bought a real nice 2nd gen 760 35 Rem in VG original condition. I was going to have it re-chambered to 358Win but couldn't bring myself to ruin such a nice old rifle, so I sold it off.
Down the road, I wished I'd kept it and enjoyed it as is.
In Oregon about 78 a local Bend Or Smith showed me his Elk Rifle a Rem 760 in 35 Whelen that he converted to 35 Whelen from a 35 Remington! Said guys from Remington had looked at it. So I had to have one, converted one from 35 Remington but Anchorge smith did not get head space right.
A lot of those converted 760,s do not have correct headspace, and not much you can do about it after the fact.
Ended up buying one in 7600 in 35 Whelen. Thanks Mel (Ol Blue)!

I found best accuracy with IMR 4064 at 60 grains. Cases fall out of the chamber and primers show no flattening. I have no need for more velocity. If I need more power, I step up to a 340wby.
On an bit of a side note ...... A couple of the 35WHELENs I've owned upon firing full 250gr loads at the bench would open the chamber on it's own. I've even had on one or two occasions the empty brass fully eject and fall to the side of the rifle.
At first I was quite concerned about this, but the rifles functioned perfectly otherwise and later found out online that other had had this same experience in their 35s.

This may be a function of how you hold the gun. I've had more than one 7600 and big marlin lever come part way open when shooting from the bench, but never when I'm standing on my hind legs to shoot.

I thought that as well, but this was off the bench off plain old sand bags. I wasn't holding the forend at all. Others have confirmed this.

Contact Redneck on here. All I had to do was send him my trigger assembly. Good job and fast turnaround.
I am selling mine for those who might be interested. Link to ad:

My '06 opens a bit with 165's & 180's off the bench, when I'm not holding the slide.
Had a 35 Whelen and was spooked by the self - opening of the action as I shot it. Never explored the possibilities of that feature. Just sold it as soon as possible. One of those regrets in life. Got quite a bit of cash for it. More than I paid for it, made me think maybe I should have kept it. Now I'm convinced I wouldn't have bought two of my 358 Winchester rifles if I had kept it. Be Well, Rustyzipper.
