On an bit of a side note ...... A couple of the 35WHELENs I've owned upon firing full 250gr loads at the bench would open the chamber on it's own. I've even had on one or two occasions the empty brass fully eject and fall to the side of the rifle.

At first I was quite concerned about this, but the rifles functioned perfectly otherwise and later found out online that other had had this same experience in their 35s.

This may be a function of how you hold the gun. I've had more than one 7600 and big marlin lever come part way open when shooting from the bench, but never when I'm standing on my hind legs to shoot.

I thought that as well, but this was off the bench off plain old sand bags. I wasn't holding the forend at all. Others have confirmed this. smile

The trigger needs mucho help though.

Who is the go to trigger guy on 760/7600's? I think a name was recommended here some years back?

Contact Redneck on here. All I had to do was send him my trigger assembly. Good job and fast turnaround.

My '06 opens a bit with 165's & 180's off the bench, when I'm not holding the slide.

We may know the time Ben Carson lied, but does anyone know the time Hillary Clinton told the truth?

Had a 35 Whelen and was spooked by the self - opening of the action as I shot it. Never explored the possibilities of that feature. Just sold it as soon as possible. One of those regrets in life. Got quite a bit of cash for it. More than I paid for it, made me think maybe I should have kept it. Now I'm convinced I wouldn't have bought two of my 358 Winchester rifles if I had kept it. Be Well, Rustyzipper.
