I like to look around at different guns and equipment for Turkey hunting. Ran across a Benelli M2 Turkey gun, from the Benelli Performance Center, for $3400! Just can't wrap my head around that one!
Nor can I! Benellis are great guns, but I can't imagine dropping that much cash on any repeater for hunting.

Saw a catalog the other day with really pricey decoy setups, remote controls and all. I was amazed.

Will my 1953 vintage Ithaca 37 20 guage be enough only using 2 3/4” pheasant loads. It’s not my primary gun, but I think I’ll carry it a few times this year.
What the heck is going on when Benelli can't get a shotgun right the FIRST time for the money
they ask for them that they gotta add almost another $2k in the custom shop ??????

Can't understand why ANYONE would even buy a "stock" Benelli so long as there's Super X3's and Super X4's to be had............. Better guns for almost half the money.
While I do agree the custom shop stuff is overpriced, I like certain model benellis. Like the higher rib, safety is in the right place, not too heavy, I shoot them pretty well. Once prices get into O/U territory, doesn't make sense. Tried winchester, worked fine, wanted to like it but couldn't. For turkeys where you might only fire a couple shots or so a season, if you're lucky, doesn't add up. But to each their own. I would not buy a Mercedes or BMW either.

..absolutely not, Cheesy!

The powers granted in the lowly Ithaca pump for hunting feral feathered fowl stopped at 195-TWO.

Please throw it away by sending it to me, post haste. whistle grin

I only use mine as crutches.

it's not Benellis fault they are priced the way they are, blame it on Beretta. I have a M1 super 90 and a Vinci super Sport and would not think of paying 1500 for one nevermind 3400.
Who am I to say what I man spends his money on.

Got a buddy where turkey hunting is the most important think in his life outside his family. He just decked out a top of the line beretta 3 1/2, matching camo eotech, sent it off to be tuned and loads developed. Guarantee he has 2500 in it easily. He can afford it.

Problem with a benelli is getting them to shoot straight, every one I've owned I've fought with. Just had to put add a montefeltro cast shim, do some sanding on the drop shim, and some anxious barrel bending with the fork of a tree on an m1 to get it to shoot straight. Benelli rep told me that if center of pattern is within 9in of bullseye it passes inspection.
I can't figure why folks are willing to spend 500 - 1000.00 on a gun to shoot those nasty tastin', shyt eatin feathered rats, much less 3400.00.

Both my Benellis shoot like they have eyes of their own. I bought a few autos after I bought the M1 , I still have the M1.

Because we can and we like nicely balanced guns, I can't figure why guys would hunt or even use a POS Mossberg shotgun .

That's because you're an idiot. I own shotguns from Browning, Ithaca, Remington, Stevens, Mossberg and CZ. They're all just a pipe with a shotgun shell in one end and one will do about as well as the next.

Oldelkhumper,

Not in the least. And yes, I have earned a living building/repairing guns for 10 years.

I doubt it, sweeping the shop floor does not qualify. You seem to have an issue with those that have nicer things then you do. Envy is a real sad deal all around.

I suspect you know much about sweeping floors as you're obviously not bright enough to do much else. I could have any gun I want and do but thanks for your concern. Turkeys just ain't worth a hell of alot and I woudn't spend much on a special gun just to hunt them.

Don't be envious of others, it is a sin
Something I'm sure you're very familiar with.
I live a blessed life and am not envious of others wealth and possessions. You should try to work harder and rise above your circumstances.

I think wild turkey tastes much better than domestic ones myself. Rifles are just a pipe with a cartridge in one end and a hunk of lead coming out the other. One will kill game just as good as another.

I have already worked harder than most would in 5 lifetimes. I am working full time at a trade I always wanted to work in and am trained for. My home looks like a Cabela's exploded inside it. Every room full of guns, ammunition, optics, cutlery, calls, hunting clothing, antlers, fishing tackle, game and fish mounts, wildlife art and hunting/fishing antiques and collectibles. And above all I'm blessed with a wife that not only tolerates my hobbies and home decorating habits but actually participates in, enjoys and encourages them. Seems to me my "circumstances" are better than most and I am not jealous of those who buy and use over priced turkey guns and think those nasty feathered rats worth the expenditure.

Is everybody from North Carolina as mentally handicapped as you and oldelkhumper ?

Putting a halt to the inbreeding might help.

Benelli = Italian Mossberg. grin
I had an 835 once , bought it from a guy going thru a divorce. It didn't last long

My new turkey gun for this year https://gueriniusa.com/shotguns/tempio/
You can't use that for turkey, there's only Pheasant and Quail engraved on it! LOL!

its sacrilege
Yikes... $3400.
However if you do a multi-state spring tour and turkey hunting is your passion... go for it. Its your middle aged harley or convertable.

I went through my shotguns and found a price to performance gap and my mossberg 500A with its stiff trigger, finicky ejecting, and required optic to shoot straight went down the road. My franchi affinity will serve turkey duty until I get weak and buy a special shotgun. The light trigger, good pattern where aims, optic ready, and reliable function are worth the money.

As far as expensive guns I want... A browning citori cynergry in camo and turkey sights is calling to me, but I cant justify it hunting in one state only. I'm contemplating buying a mossberg Maverick O/U for $402 new online as a dedicated turkey gun, but fear it will have a terrible trigger or poor regulation...

I need to quit buying shotguns and love the one you're with.

:-(

Haha !!!

I had an 835 once. Bought it from a guy just about this time of year who owed Uncle Sam too much money. It didn't last long, either.
hmmm... I bought a 835 once too and sold it.

It was due to my impulsive habits more than a performance issue!
I've had a couple different 835's. Can possibly explain the first one, not so much the subsequent ones! Lol! 835's and the Benelli Nova, just can't warm up to them. I know plenty of people use them, and like them, but they're just not for me.

The 835 was lightly used by the previous owner, didn't feel right, pretty sure it was a very solid shotgun. I went the Nova Route as well ,It didn't last long .
The 835 I bought was an early one. Clunky piece of chit that felt like a 4x4 deckpost in the hands. Wouldn't pattern for crap. Sold it a week and a half later at a profit.

Not much of a Nova fan.........just a clunky Italian Mossberg.......but they DO seem to be the most consistently tight patterning pump gun going. I still ain't buying one.
I did break down and try some of the Apex TSS shells ; $60 for 5! But, I must say, they knocked this old bird off his feet like he had been hit with a baseball bat at 40yds Thursday. number 2 this year with these 7.5/9 shot loads. Though; that's a $500 Ithaca Turkeyslayer Storm leaning against the tree.

12 bucks a pop . Yikes. I guess in the grand scheme of things it is cheap insurance
Nice Cruiser1, congrats! I've found that ammo is usually the cheapest part of any hunt and have no problem buying/using premium ammo or components.

Is that a Cubs hat you're wearing?!

Not a Cub's hat; not much of a baseball fan. Maybe because I played so much as a kid. My team wears Crimson; in fact I usually ley our a big "ROLL TIDE" after the shot smile

You got to have titanium extended and ported choke tubes, and 12 ga 3.5” multi size tungsten shot at 1500 FPS, so you damn sure need a $3400 Benelli semi auto to get the job done on a 30 yard turkey shot.
