There is a left handed Sako Mannlicher on gun broker (it is in 9.3x62). It is being advertised as new. While I'm sure it is rare, the price is already over $2,500. However, it has not reached the reserve price yet.
Pretty sweet rifle though. My local gunshop had one in 375 H&H 3 yrs ago. I should have bought it...
Here is a link if anyone is interested:
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=393753572I have nothing to do with this listing.
I stumbled across that listing last night. While the LH Steyr mentioned in the other post might be more rare than a LH Sako, I really like the thought of a LH Sako in 9.3x82. And a Mannlicher doesn't hurt...
Unfortunately, they are both out of my price range already with another 7 to 8 days left on each auction. Pretty rifles though...
That Sako is one to drool over, but that's all I could afford to do.
Awesome rifle; just the thing for moose hunting in Sweden. Needs a nice 3X Leupold in low Sako mounts and it would be ready.
Bob
I have it in 25-06 and 30-06......Ausome wood.....
Wow I think that's the first left handed mannlicher of any brand I've seen. Very cool and too rich for my blood
I should have a mannlicher 7x57 on a Zastava action before the year is out.
For those of you that have this rifle (or a similar one) what type of scope would you recommend for one chambered in 308?
It should be small and light, otherwise it would overpower the trim rifle. Straight tube scopes have their fans, but they do not gather enough light for me. Leupold would be where I started looking because their scopes are small and light. A fixed 4x, a 2-7x, or a 2.5-8x would be at the top of my list.
Leupold 2.5x8 , or straight Leupold 6 power

Bea, I like your "To Do List"... LOL when I first read it...

Who is making the stock?
Cool! Looking forward to seeing pics.
There was a brief thread discussing the project a while back, with some pictures of the pattern stock.
LH mannlicher stock
Here is a pic of my LH Mannlicher collection...I love full stock rifles!!!

Curiosity. Who did the stock on the right most rifle ? I like the open grip.

Oh, we have got to learn about those...
Beauties!! No disrespect, but the lines of the other 4 rifles make the Sako look chubby.
beware. this looks like the same rifle listed on armslist and at 2,500 which is below the gunbroker high bid........
In my opinion Armslist is the firearms Craigslist.......full of fraud. I've found several guns on armslist that were also on Gunbroker, but at a reduced price. I know Gunbroker isn't perfect, but at least there's some checks and balances. I won't consider anything on Armslist that I can't do a face to face purchase. Call that guy with the Sako on Armslist and tell him you're in the area and would like to look at it. Betcha he'll have an excuse why you can't meet.
I actually have no interest in this gun. Was just posting an FYI. If I was interested, I would not be at this point as you cannot be certain how the fraud may or may not impact taking ownership of the gun....

9.3x62 on a Mauser action
6.5x55 on a Mauser action
Sako 280
7x57 on a ruger action
350 rem on a Montana action
The two mausers were done by the late Gary Stiles. He was working on a 8x57 for me at the time of his passing. He was a great friend and is still missed!
The Sako actually handles great despite the look in the pic
The 7x57 was picked up used and came from Canada.
The 350 was built by rod Rogers of Serengeti rifles.

Those two Mauser's are treasures! They have a "just right" look to them.

Roscoe, was the LH Sako in 280 a factory build?
I have never seen one in 280!
I have the same gun in 308 and it handles very very well.

I really would love to see a photo essay on that collection of lefty Mannlichers. Getting a detailed look at them would be great.
The Sako is indeed a factory rifle. I have never seen another like it. My favorite of the bunch is the 9.3x62. It has a perfect balance and feel. I have several other photos of these guns posted on AR. Will have to go back several years to find them.
I don't have much time to spend on forums these days. Life has gotten complicated.
Wow, those are beautiful rifles and in a great selection of calibers. Well done.
That may well be more left handed mannlichers in one photo than I may have ever seen.
Thanks ...........now got to find lh mannlichers...........ugh will it never end????????
The price is outrageous, but, this rifle keeps haunting me. Wish someone would buy it so I didn't keep tripping over it on GB.
