Related to FUG's post, see the link below: http://www.amoskeagauction.com/112/660.phpI have never seen one of these engraved F's nor seen one mentioned on the Forum. I was at the preview and read Roe Clark's letter. He went into some detail about seeing receivers stacked on the engraver's bench. He also stated that he believed that these rifles were only distributed by the salesmen themselves. David, if you can find out more info, this might be something for your next book. Hammer price was $3000, so $3450 after the Buyer's Premium.

There have been one or two others turn up (I have the serial of one). Savage engraver Siegfried Rentzke started in the later `50's and is reported to have engraved the 1,000,000 rifle that is in the NRA museum. He went on to engrave for S&W.

Any idea as to how many, like the one that just sold, were engraved? Or, how many have you seen/heard of?

I passed on one at the Denver show a few years ago for about $1500 bucks. I wasn't sure if it was factory. When I went back to look at it again it was gone. I will definitely want to include these in my next book. Who has one or knows someone who has one? David
