What model is this, All of the pics I can find have a non tapered forarm.

Looks like a 1903 thats had the forearm changed.

M-14 mebee...or a M-25.

Looks like a 1903, But Sight Is Not, Pump Handle Changed.
and Slide- Fat Metal Part From Receiver to Handle too Long.

It's mag fed Jed, that knocks out the 25.

If I had to take a million dollar guess I'd say it's a 1903 with m25 wood installed on it.

YOUR 22 IS A MODEL 1903 CILP FEED AT WAS A MADE IN 1920. I HAVE ALWAYS CALLED IN THE 1903 MODEL 20. IT'S IN THE BOOKS BUT YOU HAVE TO READ VERY GOOD TO PICK IT OUT.

Phil, that wood isn't correct is it?

Thats a model 1903, very late model. I have seen them called the model 1921. It appears correct. It used the the same sight as the model 1914, same stock and forearm. On mine the bolt is slightly different from most 1903's and 1914's. Yours should have a serial number around 141,000. I have one just like it. I believe Savage was trying to use up 1903 parts and used 1914 parts to do so.

YES, THE WOOD IS RIGHT TO THE TEE. AND PACT IS RIGHT ON ALL THAT HE SAID ABOUT THE GUN. YOU DON'T SEE A LOT OF THEM AROUNDED LIKE YOU DO ALL THE OTHER MODEL IN SAVAGE 22'S.

I have its brother (3rd in photo) and also have a 1903 with round knob stock and long forearm (2nd in photo). Both serial numbered to the gun. Rick and I traded around some ads awhile back from savage that you could order a standard 1903 with the longer forearm for an extra charge. If the forearm had been changed the dovetail for the forearm (in the barrel) would have to be moved forward, that is one way to tell if it left the factory that way or was changed later.

I had an ad that got deleted that also stated that you could send your short forearm 1903's in to have them converted to the longer forearm. I wish I still had it, but computer crashed and no backup, here is the one I still have, see lower ad, "New dress for an old friend) upper ad is for the Savage 1909(short forearm, 20 inch round barrel and box magazine)....Ryan



1914's were the start of the Savages with tube magazines....

Great pics and info. Ill call the guy in the morning. I sure hope it has a good bore. He does mention and you can see in the pic that its missing one forarm screw. Common Size or hard to come by?

I do like the Savage 22's. Author Savage designed many pump 22. He designed the Stevens Gallery 80, Savage 1903, Meriden 15 and the Mossberg M, K. Grogel, the Winchester model 61 and 62 forearm screw will work in this rifle. It may need to be shortened alittle. I have some if needed.
