Beautiful gun! Considering the store you say you found it in, I wonder if some kid traded in the rifle he inherited from his grandfather for an AR? I'm one of the sentimental types and have all of my grand, great-grand and even a couple of my great-great-grand dads guns. My cousin on the other hand.....well there's reason why I have all of them.

Congrats on the rifle sir.

All I need to do is find the right model 52 to make it a tri-fecta! Looking forward to it Gary.

Pugs, congratulations on obtaining a fine old rifle! Even though I don't hunt with it much, the first pre-64 rifle I bought was a 30-06 SPRG - still love having it just for its own sake.

The leather caps for the Alaskan complete the outfit, they've become pretty hard to find in decent condition lately.

Nice score Pugs. That rifle found its way into the right hands.

Thanks much. Alas a day in the shop and idle hands and all that. I moved the scope (which is a 2.5X). The borescope did reveal some rust in the last 4" of the barrel but most of it is pristine after a good scrubbing.

Pulled it out of the stock and cleaned up the grease laden bottom and trigger and waxed the stock. Just waiting on dies and brass now.

The more I look at this thread, on the Savage forums and in my Sedgley post, the more I am convinced about why I only have ONE plastic gun. smile
