Didn’t Quantrill do quite a number on that town? But not before the red legs did the same to Butler, Chapel Hill, Clinton, Columbus, Harrisonville and Osceola... all in MO. It was where red leg Jim Lane lived. A Senator and one of their leaders. Capturing him was one of the main goals for the raid, but he made it to a cornfield and got away.
