Reed's Ammo & Research has 130gr Barnes TSX in stock. I just bought some .303 Savage from them and am very satisfied with the product.

Dumb luck my friend, dumb luck. I did see another a little later but the seller would not negotiate his inflated price and it was in worse shape so it went away.

Thank you mathman. I found a decent picture of the double tap ammo and I was heading that direction anyways. Thank you for your response Sir

You're welcome. In the interest of full disclosure, I'll say that length was arrived at by another site member who had it work well in a couple of rifles. My 300 Savage loading has not yet included that particular bullet.

I appreciate the disclosure. I just didn't want test every .003" LOL. I am going to test 2.656 to 2.585 in .005" increments and see what the targets tell us. Possibly testing next weekend but we'llsee how things go. I will post my findings. I appreciate the guidance.

You're not going to see appreciable differences between such small increments, unless you shoot a helluva pile of ammo to prove it statistically, not to mention eradicating all external aberrations (ie: bench technique, trigger control, wind, etc. etc., which we all assume every tester is a master of when internet handloading discussions take place). My advice: find a load that suits your purpose within reason, and move on to something else before you burn the throat out of a rifle chasing a Will O' the Wisp.

I load 43 grains of H4895 with the 130 TTSX. It does real fine on piggies, hit a 150 pounder at 200 yards, went through both shoulders to parts unknown. He went down right there.

I haven't loaded ammo for a few years. This copper bullets bullshit and ammo shortages caused us to rethink things.

Obviously these barnes bullets are much different. Loading within reason is sound advice. This is no PRS rifle LOL. Keeping expectations realistic for an 85 year old as well. Hopefully I can get to 1" but 1.5" @ 100 ain't to shabby for open sights if it's consistent enough.

Loaded at 2.600 I was just beginning to notice changes to my primer shape at lower then max charges. It appears that the barnes bullets are creating lower peak pressure when seated deeper. Has this been your experience?

[bleep]......... I'm becoming a loonie LOL

I appreciate you all. Thanks for sharing your knowledge

For the most part seating bullets a bit deeper in bottlenecked cartridges lowers pressure.
