They've got some gorgeous wood.. now if they'd only learn how to cut a cheekpad onto a buttstock I'd be tempted.

If I'd known about Macon, I would have bought the 250 EG with no butt-stock I asked you about.

Well, I'll wait for you to get yours back. But if it's nice, I think they're about to be flooded with work.

PLAB: After reading yo thread, I contacted MACON with afew questions:
We can copy any stock you want to replace and have patterns for straight grip and curved grip types. We have only flat (shotgun style plate cut) currently in stock but can cut specialty butt cuts which are extra, unless we are already producing it.
Cost will be for machine inlet walnut or cherry and will require light fit and finish. We have finishing services available but that will be extra.
American walnut, english walnut, turkish walnut, claro walnut, cherry, myrtlewood, maple, hackberry, ash, pecan, and a few others. Cost will vary greatly from grade to grade.
We offer oil finish here and checkering, but for fully fit products, we will need your metal parts.
I hope I have covered everything and thanks for considering us. Let me know a little more about your project and I will put together more info for you.

Ok I got my stock from macon today . .. I don't know ??? it seems to have plenty of wood except around the cresent plate the top part of the plate where the wood is cut is not cut straight so when the plate lays in the recess it's at an angle I don't think I'm going to have enough wood to correct it. I haven't worked on it yet but I'm doubtful. I sent the plate with the old stock hoping to avoid this. to bad really cause it's a nice peice of wood. the color and grain match the forearm real good ..

If you went to the trouble of sending your old stock I'd challenge them on the misfit. That's just not right.

That's a shame.. I'll wait for your results, but I figured it might not be top of the line for $65.
Any chance you can show pics?

I went to their web site and looked at the pictures. Do you have to cut in your own pads into the sides of the buttstock?
