Put new line on the poles last night, tyring out that Gorilla stuff. Going to take the Son and Grandson down to the WMA tomorrow evening and see how much damage we can do to the Bass population.

Sweet. I did a little fishing last night - caught some, nothing big, but a good evening fishing nonetheless. Got cut short by a mini-'cane (August T-storm), so the lakes and rivers are gonna be a bit muddy and high for a few days. Hmmmm, should make the pasture grass green and tasty for whistlepigs, though... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Haven't tried that Gorilla stuff, let me know how it works. The spider stuff works well, but it's all I can do to intentionally put anything spider-related near me...eight legs is just too many...

I went for the Gorilla cause I STILL can't get next to that newfangled monofiliment stuff, just gotta be braided for me.
Compared to monofilament, new Berkley Gorilla Tough braid offers twice the strength at half the diameter - with virtually no stretch. This long-lasting, sinking braid is easy on your rod guides and reels. A tremendous value compared to other braids in its class!

I'm probably going to regret asking this, but what is "spider stuff?" :shudder:

Going out to Breton Island for the weekend tomorrow. Good tides, river is low so the water should be clean. Specks and reds have been tearing them up this week. Some of the boys a little spooky about wade fishing after all the shark stuff, but I figure that's right up there with being hit by lightning for something to worry about.

Although, strangely, a neighbor's wife was hit by lightning on a crowded beach not a half mile from where that girl was killed by the shark in Destin. Weird, huh? She's still rehabbing---it's like a super massive stroke. Forgot how to do everything.

I think I'm getting it on my own... it's some sort of fishing line, right?

Hmmmmm, I might have to try that out - sounds like it should work beautifully for ultra-light rigs and small stream native fishing.

Still, for 99% of my fishing, it's amazing how well the ol' Stren and Trilene stuff still works. Guess that kinda relates to my theories on rifles and cartridges, too...

Hmmm, thanks for the fishin' lesson there, T_each. Class over for the day?

Alright, y'all done convinced me; I might have to go fishin' again tonight. Given the rain last night, I might have to go up to the little native streams, maybe a little WET-wading and small spinner or terrestrial dry fly action will get a few native brookies.

Jed, it's one of THOSE summer time days in the 'dacks, today, ain't it? Cold-front just push through? Man, I am jealous - I do miss those days up there.

I sure wish I had some smallmouths around. You gonna take me fishing? I just love the idea of wet wading a stream and catching some smallies.

Of course brookies will be just fine also. I really can't say one trout is prettier than another, but those brookies as just about at the top.....

Drag your carcass up here and we'll go fishin'.

Bring a flyrod between 4 and 7 weight, with 5-6 being about perfect, and a spinning rod or two (one UL and one Med.) with panther martins, a few small rapalas, anything in a crawfish pattern, and some bare hooks. You can get by with only one of the above, and any more is not needed.

Yeah, the brookies are my favorites as well - now, if TU can just get 'm repopulated in the mtns. down here in the SE...
