A mint pre-64 Win 100 in 308. It was an expensive single shot.

Remington 700 Classic in 35 Wheelen. Waited for it a long time. When it came the lug channels were overcut and the bolt would hang up as it "overotated", jammed and could not be retracted. And that is before I learned about all the other crap about glued bolt handles, fail on fire safeties and sheet metal extractors.
A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”

Remington 700 mountain rifle in 7x57. Grouped like a slingshot and woouldn't always feed. The killer is I sold a Ruger 77 RSI in .250-3000 so I could afford it. Oh, well, hindsight is 20/20.

Years ago I "had to have" a Remington Mountain rifle in 280. Biggest piece of crap I've ever owned. I never could get it to shoot, 5 inch groups at a 100 were about as good as it shot. Tried different scopes, and all the other tricks. Nothing. Sold it for nothing and moved on.

about 7 years ago it was 2 kimber cf rifles. neither would shoot better than 2-3" and numerous problems with chambering. sold both.
then it was a win m70 classic s/s in 30-06. never could get it to shoot. smith finally found that the barrel was screwed into the receiver at an angle. smith sold it for me.

Remington 700 ADL in .30-06. Bought it used. Tried it with open sights and scope. Messed with bedding. Had a classic stock put on it by a smith. Nothing could shrink the 6-8" groups that seemed to floar around the target. Sold it to a friend who thought he could fix it. He couldn't.

A Beretta Cougar 8040. I was using a Browning Hi-Power in .40 S&W at the time, and I thought that the Cougar would be an upgrade. It was way too big and clumsy for a .40, and it shot patterns with every load I tried in it, some of which went into 2 inches at 25 yds (from a rest) with the Browning.

Seems to be an abundance of Rugers and Remingtons mentioned.... Possibly proportional to the number of rifles out there.

A Ruger No 1 Light Sporter in 243, never did like it, it shot so so, I ended up giving it to a friend. No lost on my part, bought it used, from a guy we both knew. I think the barrel was the problem, then again that was the case with a lot of Ruger's from the 1970's.

Ruger mini 14, bought about 1973
Wouldn't group 12" at 100 yards with a scope. Traded it and ended up with another of the same era. That one was a 1 MOA rifle.
Also an Erma 22 LR Luger look-alike, bought in 1964. when It broke I took it back and traded it on a new Ruger BearCat...Wish I still had this one!!!

"glued bolt handles" what a goof... I'll put up a compendium of "Broken Off Rem Bolt Handles", with pics,..... FAILED "COPPER BRAZE" look for that over the next day or two. PATHETIC don't begin to describe, and "Glued on" is a compliment. GTC

One Sporterized 1917 Enfield Eddy Stone Action. Biggest piece of crap I've ever owned. It ranks right up there with one worn out Argentine '98 Mauser that a local gun hack tried to sell me years ago.
