A real nice 584 is for sale on Gunbroker, no bids so far at $750. I already have one, and I strongly recommend this gun to anyone who "needs" a good 12 ga/ .30-06 combination gun for less than the price of a Harley. It will weigh about 7.2 lbs. and, if if's anything like mine, will shoot very accurately.
These guns were made in Czechoslavakia. Any resemblence to the CZ-USA guns made in Turkey, or to the Baikal guns from Russia, is purely coincidental.

These are pretty good guns, AND the rifle trigger is single set.

It has 2 triggers, are they still set? How do you mount a scope on it?

The rear trigger is the shotgun trigger and the front trigger is the rifle trigger. The front trigger will function as a standard trigger or by pushing forward on it you can SET it so now when you pull it it only has a few ounces to a lb. to fire it. That's why it is called a "Set Trigger" and being as you push forward on the trigger to set it is a "single set trigger"
On some Muzzleloaders, target rifles and even some hunting rifles you will find "double set triggers" only one trigger fires the gun the other trigger is used to set the other trigger for a lighter pull. They come in many different confiqurations, some you pull the rear trigger to set the front, another you pull the front to set the rear and in another the front trigger appeers to be installed backward and you push forward on the front trigger to set the rear.
To mount the scope the CZ 584 has a dovetail rib on the top at the rear of the reqular barrel rib, it is much like the mounting system on a 22 rifle. My Bernedelli and Marrochi have 11mm dovetail ribs. I believe they also come in 13mm and there are probly some propietory sizes so you can only use the companies mounting system. I'm not sure of the size on the CZ.
Hoped that helped.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

I own several CZ 550's so I know how the set trigger works. I would seriously consider getting this if I knew for sure I could mount a low power scope. Would a dovetail mount hold under 30-06 and 12 ga recoil?

If you look closely at the dovetail part of the top rib on the CZ 584 you will see that there is a cut out in the rib for a recoil lug. Here are a couple of different ring sets I've tried on my Bernedelli. This is a one piece unit with four clamp screws it has a drop down recoil lug that fits in a recess in the rib. It mounted the scope too high for my taste. This is a set of HD Weaver style rings with a pair of Weaver to 11mm adaptors I tapped a hole in the adaptor and made my own recoil lug. Here are Leupold 11mm rimfire rings, again I tapped the underside of one of the rings and installed a recoil lug. I wasn't sure how strong the the Leupold rimfire rings were so added anextra one. All of these have held just fine with 2 3/4" magnum #4 Buck and heavy BB loads. Only the 11mm to Weaver adaptor got the scope low enough for me. You could always tap the rib and install a set of low/extra low Talley one piece ring/mount sets.

Nice looking gun, where did you find it? I've been looking a for a nice combo for a long time. I always seem to miss them. I was the one asking about the Winchester and got talked out of it due to the regulation issuses. I think I'll try for the CZ. Know of any more nice combo's at reasonable price?

I wanted one of these in either 7x65R or 7x57R and had every intention of ordering one. As usual, I kept buying other stuff and d*cked around until they stopped importing them. CZ sold a proper scope mount that might still be available by special order if they can import them. They also offered a .22LR insert for the shotgun barrel that would make for one heck of a do everything gun. Alas, I have zero interest in a .30-06....

I've seen that Zoli. Is it one of the good Zoli's or one to avoid. Why do all the combo's have dovetail mounts. It just seems like there are better ways to do it

Antonio Zolis are better guns. The Angelo Zolis tend to be rougher.
The 11MM dovetail is common on Italian and other European combo guns. It was their equivalent of the picatinny we now use.

Not all the combos have dovetail mounts, but it is the least expensive way to have a mount that will slide on and off and keep zero. Higher end combos will have claw mounts but they are very expensive about $1500 for the bases and rings. All used guns are a crap shoot, at least you can have Cabelas ship it to you local Cabelas store so you can inspect it. It costs a non refundable $25. but if you decide to take the gun they will apply it to the purchase price.
If you realy doubt whether you can pick a good one or would have a hard time moving one that doesn't work out for you you might want to think about a new gun there are some new Valmet and BRNO's that CZ is importing. Just saw that the BRNO's are discontinued.
