Well I figured you were talking about my gun room again. Stocks are doing just fine. I bought a bunch a few weeks ago. Didn’t hit the absolute bottom of the small correction, but got close. Now it’s time to rebuild my rainy day fund so I can buy the recession if Trump is elected. Every GOP President in the last 100 years has presided over a recession. Buying during those times can make you a lot of money if you’re a long term investor.
A recession is probably inevitable in a year or so regardless of the election outcome if the Fed is serious about fighting inflation because the only way they are going to bring it back to 2% is to create one. The situation is somewhat like when Volcker raised rates at the end of the Carter and beginning of Reagan administration.
The only difference is that if Biden and enough congressional democrats are elected and enact a 44% capital gains tax and a tax on unrealized gains, the dip in the markets is likely going to be deeper and may very well not recover within a year or so like all of us are used to. Yeah, I know its only on "the wealthy" but it would suit me to have them and their money participating in the markets. I knew if I was looking at 44% tax on my capital gains I don't think I would bother.
This may actually not happen because Biden is backed by billionaires. It could be nothing more than pandering to his commie base in an election year.
