Have a buddy in Denver with a problem. Gun safe in garage with freshly rusting guns. Some nice family guns affected. Anyone know someone close to Denver that can clean these guns before it is too damn late. May even entail reblueing.

I don't know if CO School of Trades (gunsmithing) in Lakewood is still in existence- I graduated in 1980 from there. They always needed guns for the sudents to work on. I think there is (was?) one in Trinidad also.
Note- I figure I went out of there with a 4th grade education. After 5 years in business I was up to 6th grade, maybe- then had to get honest work to support the rug-rats i'd bred.
But refinishing is pretty basic.

I am a 1978 graduate of Trinidad State College's gunsmithing program, their bluing work is far superior to Colorade School of Trades. I have examined guns reblued by their students, they're overbuffed and not quality work.

I.d talk to two gunsmiths. Robert Parker, Parker Arm And Gunsmithing in Wheat Ridge and/or Pete Hubbard Homeland Gunsmithing in Kiowa. Both have done work for me; both are honest and highly skilled.

Curious, does your friend have Golden Rod Heater or desiccant in the gun safe?

A buddy of mine had a similar situation. Several guns needed cleaning/reblueing after a roof leak and he took them to a gunsmith who we both used. The gunsmith passed away with my buddy's guns apart and scattered all over the shop. Working with the son he was finally able to get all of the parts back and get everything reassembled by another smith. I wish you better luck.
I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all. Jack O'Connor
